What do you think will be the biggest disappointments of 2022? My pick: Starfield.

Nobody can possibly still be disappointed by Bethesda.

They will do everything in their power to prove that Fallout 76 was a one-time misstep. And people make huge mistakes when working under huge pressure.

… But it obviously wasn’t? Even if you’re a normie who loved Oblivion and FO3 (lol), FO4 was widely considered a disappointment. That’s part of the reason the FO76 backlash was so severe.

Fallout 4 was problematic, but not on the scale of F76. Initial patches and mods fixed the most glaring problems. There was nothing on the scale of nylon bag scandal, multiplayer hacking or the leak of personal information. It still sold well so from financial standpoint it was not a failure. It is true, however, that F4 cost Bethesda a lot of goodwill.

F76 was an entirely new level of a disaster with problems never before experienced by Bethesda and its customers.

It's more accurate to say that Morrowind was a one-time accidental good game from them. Everything else Bethesda made was bad, their only redeeming factor being that at least they made it easy to mod their games and salvage them from "bad" into "almost good but not really."

Daggerfall disagrees with you.

Daggerfall hasn’t aged particularly well (I rarely play it today), but it blew my mind when it came out; can’t say that about any of Bethesda’s other games.

Regarding Elder Scrolls, are you all excited to see what everyone's favorite RPG designer is going to unveil after the release of Starfield?

I think the new Rainbow Six and Saints Row games look like they're going to go over badly. Though what I would pick that someone on the Codex might actually be hyped for is Flashback 2.

Imagine Skyrim being released today. A game about a race of white, blonde, blue-eyed Aryan folk, trying to drive out a decadent (((Empire))) puppeted by (((Elves))) and secure a future for Nord children. Todd would get cancelled before you could say It Just Works. Sad to see them go full SJW. The chance of Starfield or Elder Scrolls VI being good was already extremely low, though. Maybe if Starfield flops they'll change direction in time to save ESVI, but I doubt it.
