While Mass Effect deals with its activation limit, BioShock has completely removed theirs. According to the 2K Forums:

Good news! As promised, all activation restrictions, including install limits, have been removed from BioShock PC as of today. You don’t have to patch or install anything for this to go into effect for your copy of BioShock – it’s already done!

Enjoy your time in Rapture, and thank you for supporting BioShock and the 2K teams.

It's always nice when companies allow you to use the products you've paid for.

I thought they already removed all limitations after a few weeks. Anyway, lets hope this whole DRM thingie goes the way of the dodo as soon as possible. It's one of the most customer unfriendly things I've seen in the games industry.

Agreed, and I don't like piracy. I wish it were handled as in with books - once you buy it its yours. You can install it where you like, lend it to your friends, make a copy (if you insist), and so on.

The only thing that shouldn't be allowed is sharing it via internet. This DRM though is intrusive and not really going to achieve what they want to achieve - unless their goal is to frustrate customers.

Seems its only the activation limit thats gone, securom is still there, and you still need those pesky activation servers which could mean its still phoning home but now you won't have to go hat in hand to beg for activations anymore if something happens.
Still too little too late , since i am sure the people who purchased the game, decided not to put up with the limits and used the cracked exe.
Which proves had they wanted to they could have fixed this thing from the start instead of spending months working on activation revoke tools and upping the amount of activation you got, bunch of assholes.

It's not "giving up." Games have just become so blockbusterized that, like the theatrical movie business, they make the vast majority of their profit in the first few weeks of release, so hindering piracy for a month or so is the only mission of DRM and it's never going away.

note that they did NOT remove the DRM, they only removed the install limit, you still need to activate it, and it still installs the dreaded securom semi-rootkit that causes all kinds of problems to some hardware and blacklists some programs.

this crap will only go away once Europe or the US passes some law forcing software either not to have DRM, or to patch it out after x ammount of time on sale, nag your senators for it.
