While the thread is still resurrected, what happened to this super duper contest? Which story won?

HiddenHand we get it, you're disappointed with Mass Effect 3.

But if you're just annoyed with ME3's ending then the Codex isn't the place to bitch about it. Barely anyone here gives a fuck about Mass Effect and the only thing most of us know about the ending is that it's so glorious in the butthurt it has generated. If you want a place to actually vent about ME3's ending BSN would be a better fit.

On the other hand if you're keen to play some actually good crpgs go check out the holy trinity i.e. Fallout, PST, Arcanum and other games recommended in the RPG codex top RPGs list- you don't need Bioware and you'll realise that Mass Effect and Dragon Age are just cheap imitations compared to the truly great RPGs.

Thanks for advise; already played some of them years ago by the way it's theHiddenHand but you can call me the ;)

You want to make a good DA:O sequel? Head over the KULT boards and steal their content, that would make up for the most devious and grimdark Bioware game ever.

Pretty sure this was just an attempt to use fanfics for DA3. Writing team can't write so they steal their fan's ideas for use in DA3.

bros allow me to encourage Golden Pigsy to post bad videogame literature related material in general gaming's best thread ever, we are definitely missing a specialist in that regard

GoldenPigsy, I hope you get around to reviewing Asunder soon. I'd love to read more reactions to "He guzzled ominously" paragraphs- plus your criticism in general of his writing style is great.

Holy shit! I'm one of your biggest fans. Actually, I think it was me who introduced the Codex to your blog. I also remember posting the link to your Stolen Throne review on the BSN - in a thread celebrating the release of one of Gaider's novels, no less. He even replied to that post, something to the effect of "who cares what that guy thinks". Keep fighting the good fight, sir.

Edit: Haha, there we go: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/260/index/7637176/9

I'd like to think he either didn't read it or was cut pretty deep by what he had read. But, we both know Gaider simply belongs to a caste of creative minds who are convinced great art is made in spite of criticism. Which may be true when we're talking about original ideas and concepts, not the kind of uninspired - or should I say, heavily inspired - fantasy Gaider is known for.

Coming soon: Dragon Age: Asunder

Can't wait. :bro:

I actually tried to alert the best thread ever about the Bioware writing contest when it was embryonic. And since it looks like D. Gaider's on an indefinite break from writing books, I don't know if I'll be paying attention to bad video game writers attempting to write bad novels. I suppose I could always start poking at Drew Karpyshyn.

I remember when you linked that on BSN! My traffic exploded and I received a few upset e-mails and comments. Hilarious stuff.

Unfortunately, you might have to wait a bit to read my review of Asunder; it's taking all the will power I have to actually sit down and read it.
