Since it's based on a P&P game it's obviously junk.

PnP systems are not junk, they are just simplified for our little minds to be able to handle the calculations on the fly. Also, any decent session is a lot more fun than any cRPG ever made.
And finally, Sawyer knows the shit he knows because he plays PnP, hes hardly insightful, as everything he says has been said before by half decent, experienced DMs all over the world at one time or another. Kudos to him for getting it tho, thats a lot more than most game devs are capable of.

Heythere!

I'm community Manager at Daedalic Entertainment.
It's nice to see your reactions and discussion to our Early Access of Blackguards. If you have any questions or comments about the game I'd ask you to have a look into our deticated steamforum.
To be honest I'm not too much into the game and therefore not able to help you out with answers...
But our blackguards developers are active and try to answer any questions and try to provide information and feedback on ideas and features from the community (this is you ;D )

Thank you very much for your support! :)

Our forum is perhaps five million times better than steam. Ask the devs to come here instead!

A Community Manager who doesn't know what the game is about? What could possibly go wrong?

They're an adventure game company experimenting with a new genre for (I think) the first time. This is not surprising.

No, Infinitron, it's not surprising, it's completely fucked up. Jesus! You were a beta tester? Stockholm syndromed much?

I wasn't a beta tester.

And I didn't say it was acceptable - I said it was not surprising.

So you're saying they're incompetent at keeping relevant staff informed on in-house projects, as well as continuing the modern day trend of appointing customer service staff who know nothing about the company's products?

Or do you have a better reason for saying it's not surprising?

I said that it's not surprising that a small company that specializes in adventure games has some support staff that don't know much about CRPGs. Don't see why that's a controversial statement.

It's definitely pretty lame. Feel free to email Daedalic and ask them to fire the guy.

Heythere! I'ts not like I don't know anything from the game. I just wanted to let you know that I cannot answer specific questions in terms of balancing etc.
+ I don't really get the connection at all. I mean it is good that I don't work on the game itself because I would screw things up badly. The guys in the team itself are busy tuning and working on the game...

Be assured that the game is pretty much in late beta and shouldn't cause any crashes or major problems. The main reason the game is in early access is to get feedback from you guys

Even a cRPG that they're developing? And the 'support staff' is the Community Manager for the game?

Is this a Doritos and Mountain Dew moment?

Well as a 'community manager' who claims to know nothing about the game and tells Codexers to post on steam instead.... if he does get fired I'm sure he'll be snapped up by Guido's campaign.

As Infinitron said, until recently they where mostly about Adventure games.
We don't know much about when or why he became a community manager, but who the fuck cares about facts when we can vent some of the usuable spite and negativity, right?

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.

Dude, you've been here almost three years. I'm sure you've done plenty of venting yourself.

Besides from what I've seen, Codex enjoys smiting devs with ungodly wrath for far lesser transgressions than that.

I said that it's not surprising that a small company that specializes in adventure games has some support staff that don't know much about CRPGs.

Let's add some things to that rationale, shall we:

In my experience, a community manager acts as bridge between the developers and a dedicated forum. What he does is compile the fan's suggestion and instigate discussion. While it is very likely that knowledge of the game is useful in this office (especially in the occasional time they come to answer fan questions) he's very likely not the head of marketing. But that's not all.

There are likely to be more than a single community manager. Indeed, there seems to be more than one CM in the Steam forum alone -- judging from multiple accounts who posted pinned threads. Furthermore, currently, Daedalic is developing two games and one of them is their usual Adventure stock.

So its entirely possible that the kind poster who bothered stooping into the dephts of the Codex (something that hundreds of guests [should] never dared to do) is a CM for the other game. Or even is a recent hire.

Or maybe this is indeed a Mountain Dew moment. Who wouldn't want to befriend Infinitron to control the monumentous influence the Codex garners on the internet? (Man, isn't that rich?)

Besides, can Daedalic even pay a Melnorme's prices?

Welcome to the Codex Mr. Malone, You have only seen the surface of what any statement can cause here.
And dont worry, you dont need to answer any specific question about the game, as long as you have played it, and your people skills are adquate it should be good enough to represent your product as a community manager.
We would, however, apretiate if you could send us a blonde big breasted cock tease with a fetish for basement dwellers that suffer from obsenity shouting tourette disorder. as a representative of your product. This would, in all likelihood, result in a spike on your sales with the codex demographic. This individual does not, and i repeat, does not need to be of the female gender.

If only they were balanced too.

Because of the people involved, not the rules, which are always junk. One can have a comparable amount of fun with a well-balanced board or card game.
