We're going back to the original pre-season team setup anyways of 2 back throwers and bursting receivers run through the flanks.
Judging from satael's timezone, the match may be as early as tonight.

Deus Vult!
And we shall know no fear!

.....uh... keep the Carlsberg.
Update:

bwaahahah.png

Necro drew with Inferno. The perfect result. This means both teams failed to climb up the table. Inferno level on points with us, but they can't climb over us.

The Darkest Knights

01.jpg

Hello and welcome back to Blood Bowl. Tonight we're having two teams with somewhat mixed fortunes. Knights of Codexia, unbeaten so far in the season have lost a highly valued player, and lies just within the top 4 spot after a heart-breaking draw. Missing tonight will be their favorite runner, stabby with a fractured arm. Let's see what their coach has planned in replacement.

Meanwhile, Vast Mountain Raiders are possibly staring at their last game of the season. If they lose here, they'd be lying at 0 points from four games, disastrous. It is extremely unlikely the top four will finish with less than 9 points a piece - hence the pressure is on them to grab 3 points from tonight.

02.jpg

Wonderful crowd on a sunny morning.

03.jpg

Looks like Knights won a coin toss... what are they gonna pick?

04.jpg

They want to ball and looky here! We have TWO new players on the Knights' rank! It's... Garm , the new Catcher and Corporate_Jew_Master .... AKA John Riccitiello! Holy crap, shit just got real. It looks like Knights are reverting to their pre-season favorite line-up. No Big Guys, just honest, fast passing game.

05.jpg

These two coaches have played plenty of pre-season and Satael has only managed to beat the Knights once out of 5-6 matches. Let's see if he take something out of this game with his favored team instead.

06.jpg

Raiders with the kick!

07.jpg

And already, nature is working against the Knights. That sun is gonna fuck up a lot of passes today.

08.jpg

The kick is long, landing just behind Xenomorph...

09.jpg

There's plenty of gap to exploit on the flanks though, and the Knights didn't hesitate to take the route on the sides. Azira and Garm going at each route, slipping past the orcish lines...

10.jpg

Ricky can't reach the ball.

11.jpg

Looks like they're going left - Gondolin moving in for the guard assist.

12.jpg

Whitewolf to blitz!

13.jpg

Only a push. It's gonna be hard to injure any orcs today with those uber thick armor.

14.jpg

Jaedar goes back to cover the ball.

15.jpg

Turns out Xeno doesn't need it. Where will he go?

16.jpg

A little bit forward. Getting ready to fire that killer pass. Turnover.

17.jpg

Azira gets company.

18.jpg

Garm too, goes at it alone. Here comes a lone blitzer...

19.jpg

Makes that Go-for-it to pressure Xenomorph!

20.jpg

Elsewhere - Gondolin gets stunned!

21.jpg

While Whitewolf maintains his footing.

22.jpg

The less said about the human line, the better...

23.jpg

Utterly demolished.

24.jpg

Brother None, gets knocked back to the line. Danger! Turn over.

25.jpg

None, gets up again. Throwing away any concern for his safety.

26.jpg

The Line is back up.

27.jpg

Xeno needs a little troubleshooting - but Ricky didn't give a fuck and move upwards.

28.jpg

Jaedar to shoot down the trouble.

29.jpg

Stuns it! Xeno is free, strange, another day would've seen the quarterback dodging out and firing a long ball. A change of policy perhaps? No receivers are free yet...so he's not going to fire it that early.

30.jpg

Azira dodges out.

31.jpg

Garm to do it as well.

32.jpg

Trouble as his marker is a good tackler~!

33.jpg

Team reroll and barely makes it out! Turn over!

34.jpg

They're not going to let Azira go...

35.jpg

Brother None flies towards the crowd, but aside from several bruises, he's ok!

36.jpg

The line is holding.

37.jpg

Riccitiello taking a blitz from a very angry black orc!

JR.jpg

Turn on your DRM, peasant.

38.jpg

AND THE ORC FAILS THE GO FOR IT! TURN OVER! THE CROWD ROARS IN AMAZEMENT! RICKY DID IT !

39.jpg

He runs forth, to back the lonely Garm. Just one blitzer marking him, but that blitzer has tackle...

40.jpg

Doesn't matter, Jaedar to clear the path!

41.jpg

Oh my, time for the Knights to sweat it!

42.jpg

Gets it! A push is sufficient!

43.jpg

XENO - A FAMILIAR SIGHT! DEFIES THE WRATH OF THE SUN!

44.jpg

45.jpg

PERFECT CATCH BY THE NEWCOMER!

46.jpg

Is he gonna wait it out or blaze a trail?!

47.jpg

CRESCENDO OF CHEERS AS HE NEARS THE END OF THE LINE!

48.jpg

MAKES IT! GARM SCORES ON HIS DEBUT! KNIGHTS WITH AN EARLY TOUCHDOWN!

In The Brightest Day
Crowd is loving this, early score and it's still an open game. The orks definitely felt the line opening when that blitz went into a turnover.

01.jpg

Let's see what happens on this drive.

02.jpg

03.jpg

More support for the Knights, they can't ask for anything more.

04.jpg

Ball lands far back.

05.jpg

A stunning blow on LundB.

06.jpg

That line merc didn't survive the KO attempt.

07.jpg

Turnover. Odd, why go right?

08.jpg

A very fatal mistake as the second frenzy isn't assisted by his comrades.

09.jpg

TURNOVER as the Knights blunders!

10.jpg

There's no way they can hold up against this assault!

11.jpg

Oh my, Riccitiello is down!

12.jpg

OH GOD. That was his first match too! Apothecary? Yes, it looks like they're going to save the most hated man in the gaming industry. The Corporate Jew Master receives treatment as the coach twiddles his thumbs...

13.jpg

He's alive!

14.jpg

JR.jpg

Close, close call. But the scary part isn't over yet. The left flank is so weak that the orcs will have no trouble breaking through.

15.jpg

16.jpg

With Whitewolf and co. trapped on the right, there's no way the Knights can mount sufficient pressure!

17.jpg

Hellraiser gets back up.

18.jpg

19.jpg

Whitewolf rises and takes down his men, blitzing away towards the ball carrier!

20.jpg

Jaedar, trying to get there as well!

21.jpg

Makes it!

22.jpg

Xeno going left...

23.jpg

Looks like the elf play is starting to show here, the Knights, abandoning their bashing play immediately the moment the numbers no longer seem feasible.

24.jpg

Gondolin somehow making it.

25.jpg

26.jpg

So does Angelo. Turnover.

27.jpg

Whitewolf, closely marked.

28.jpg

Angelo, taken down.

29.jpg

Brother None, once again, backs to the line.

30.jpg

LundB bashed from 3 directions, but still alive.

31.jpg

Somehow the Knights' line isn't playing the game, but still in the game. If that makes any sense.

32.jpg

Xeno with a desperate blitz.

33.jpg

Takes out his man, but goes out of his position, probably a fuck up by his coach. They're gonna pay for that.

34.jpg

A terrible play that everyone will call bullshit if it works out...typical.

35.jpg

36.jpg

37.jpg

Yep, Knights losing the plot. The coach seems to not have a plan.

38.jpg

Easy handoff.

39.jpg

40.jpg

A double skull, but reroll was spent.

41.jpg

eklektyk, taken down.

42.jpg

Brother None surviving his second trip to the crowd...

43.jpg

Xenomorph, stunned. Turnover.

44.jpg

None of the Knights are standing, a complete rout. This looks like a nightmare scenario of some sort...

45.jpg

Not even eklektyk can mount any resistance.

51.jpg

1-1, a painful finish for the Knights as they surrendered the lead meekly! With the orcs receiving in the second half, nobody will deny that they're putting themselves in a very shitty position. Is the coach cracking under pressure? Let's find out!

You know the scary part of this half?
We didn't even successfully block more than 3 times.

Half time. Backs to the wall. 1-1.
Our enemy is at our door.
I... I have failed.
There's no doubt about it. If I look back on the first half, we were extremely lucky to score.
And conceding that equalizer shook me up. I realized I wasn't thinking right. There was no strategy that would've called that blitz to nowhere a good decision.

With just barely minutes to make up my mind on our second half kick off. I know. I just know, we can't let them score. Nuffle was kind enough to let the 5th and 6th place draw the game. To lose this match would waste his gift. A win would be glorious, but a fully powered orc team is always a crazy proposition to take head-on. If only Ulminati is here. But no. We cannot face strength with strength. That much is clear. We need to take risks. Not stupid risks, but risks that would let us win.

Many... many times I considered pulling the plug on my modem.
But I knew, that would be the end of me. If I get away with the first, there would be no end of it.
I would do it again. It is the whispers of deceit that would certainly poison my integrity.
The temptation was so, so close.

To think it even crossed my mind. I knew, that I lost my nerve.
This is my shame.

And this is my answer.

The Answer

The%20Line.jpg

01.jpg

Knights are lining up for the kick... oh what's this? An unusually forward formation. Are they taking the orcs head-on?

02.jpg

No fear from the bench... here comes the kick!

03.jpg

Guts that certainly is appreciated by the crowd. The Knights need that extra bit of steel in there, but without an ogre to punch a hole, it is very doubtful they can win this power contest

04.jpg

A slightly short kick..

05.jpg

Oh my! TURNOVER! THE KNIGHTS SHOUTING IN UNISON! WHAT IS THIS?!

06.jpg

DEUSSSS VULTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

07.jpg

Whitewolf only gets a push! DANGER AS HE ENTERS A SECOND PUSH AGAINST THE BLACK ORK UNASSISTED!

08.jpg

ESCAPED WITH A PUSH!

THERE'S THE HOLE!

ALL IN!

The Longest Drive

Danger as Azira hangs on to the prize... yet the the Raiders knew their drive is undone by an insane Knights' assault.

16.jpg

The Raiders, enraged by the drive disruption assaults Azira, knocking him aside, the ball, coming loose!

18.jpg

As they desperately try to shake off their marker, the Knight's line gave their all to hold the ground.

19.jpg

Whitewolf, refuses to fall.

20.jpg

LundB, giving his best to stay alive.

21.jpg

A ray of hope as an attack on the line is undone! Turn over!

22.jpg

Hellraiser, not giving up the good fight.

23.jpg

Xenomorph, draws closer to the prize.

24.jpg

Knights rally to break down their opponent, but the blocks would not penetrate!

25.jpg

Azira stands.

26.jpg

Gondolin and Jaedar tries his best.

27.jpg

They brought down their opponents but could not break their armor.

28.jpg

Brother None snatches the prize!

29.jpg

Yet for a fatal misstep!

30.jpg

Garm, to reposition himself!

31.jpg

Success! Turn over. The orcs knew - if the Knights score here, it is all over.

32.jpg

Garm, utterely demolished.

33.jpg

Alas, Brother None failed in his duty!

34.jpg

The ball went out of bounds!

36.jpg

No catch by the orc thrower as the ball is thrown back in!

37.jpg

eklektyk could not hold...knocked out!

38.jpg

Xenomorph gets double-teamed and falls! Dire situation as the Knights are losing ground on the fight for the ball.

39.jpg

As the turn is over, Jaedar succumbs to a stunning blow. Adding further weakness to the Knights's skirmish line.

40.jpg

Brother None, tries his best to free the ball zone...

41.jpg

No.

42.jpg

A reroll had to spent. Push back! Desperation.

44.jpg

Azira to challenge the gods.

45.jpg

And fail miserably.

47.jpg

Brother None falls over, stunned.

48.jpg

As the Raiders secure the ball in their own back field, realization dawns: they cannot afford this draw.

49.jpg

Whitewolf, standing against all odds.

50.jpg

Xenomorph is defiant still.

52.jpg

Angelo, still fighting the good fight, holding down the Black Ork, taking blow after blow.

53.jpg

LundB, soldiering on. Turn over.

54.jpg

Counter attack! Whitewolf, lands a stunning blow! Freeing Gondolin!

55.jpg

Blitz!

56.jpg

Just a push! Azira demands the God's answer once more!

57.jpg

They granted his first wish...

58.jpg

Will they grant the second?

59.jpg

He's down! Badly hurt! That run took a toll on his legs...pain claims him and he's out of this match. Knights in a serious dilemma! TURN OVER!

61.jpg

Raiders hold the ball, however, an unexpected turnover rears its ugly head as a block goes awry!

62.jpg

Raiders are running out of time.

64.jpg

65.jpg

No dice on the block. Knights having an awful day on the offense today!

66.jpg

Xeno taking the chance - solo!

67.jpg

Just a push - more misery awaits.

68.jpg

Whitewolf tries to reposition and had to burn a reroll to avoid danger...

69.jpg

Can LundB make it?

70.jpg

Failed on the final hurdle.

71.jpg

Raiders needs to break out. Now!

72.jpg

Gondolin gets pushed aside!

73.jpg

A handover, he's FREE!

74.jpg

DESPAIR!

75.jpg

KNIGHTS ARE ABOUT TO LOSE IT! TURN OVER!

76.jpg

DESPERATION TIME!

77.jpg

BLOCK AFTER BLOCK AMOUNTING NOTHING MORE THAN A PUSH!

78.jpg

THE GODS HAVE STRUCK DOWN THE KNIGHTS! TURN OVER!

79.jpg

80.jpg

Is this it?

Is this going to be the Raiders first victory? The Knights putting up a valiant fight, but having nothing to show for it?!

I disagree. After watching a Halfling kill a Beast of Nurgle after a failed block, I would say that Nuffle simply has a sick sense of humour. He also just likes to give occasional reminders of who exactly is in charge.

He...fell? From a go for it?

02.jpg

...... !!!

That's it. It's impossible for the Raiders' thrower to get up and finish the down... even if he gets the ball.

03.jpg

The Knights ... against the run of play...has secured the draw. ANYTHING ELSE NOW IS A BONUS!

04.jpg

05.jpg

06.jpg

What in the world?

07.jpg

They still want the ball?! Turn over as Angelo fails a dodge and gets KO'ed.

09.jpg

Brother None says 'Fuck this' and goes off KO'ed.

10.jpg

Raiders, knowing that it's game over decides to just bash the fuck out of every knights player within range.

11.jpg

It's amazing no one else is injured in this match...

12.jpg

..For real?

13.jpg

Yes, he makes it,.... but what the hell...

14.jpg

Good god, if he makes this one I swear ...

15.jpg

Oh thank god, enough drama!

16.jpg

IT'S A ONE - ALL FINISH! MY GOD, WHAT A CRACKER! Both sides, going all out, but having just a point to show for it. It's gotta be a heartbreaker for the Raiders, who lies on 7th place with just a point out of 4 matches. They're not out yet... but their chances of making to fourth place... is very, very slim.

17.jpg

Knights baffled with the MVP decision going to the lone mercenary lineman, but whatever, they escaped with a precious point. This would surely baffle the whole division as Knights just rode their luck so far. I was so sure they're going to taste their first defeat of the season. That downcast expression when the Raiders made that hand-off...but my god...that Go-For-It....fatal!

I'm sure the coach is riding a mix of emotions right now. With that point, they increased the gap to 1 point between 4th and 5th place. They're still in full control of their qualification chances as they take on the 8 Eyes next week! What an undeserved draw ... and I'm sure the fans think the same as well. Unbeaten for 4 matches...yet...here they are at 4th place.

But sometimes, being good is just not enough - so many bad luck today - with a fair share of bad plays coming from the Knights' coach - but that 2nd half answer. What a ride.

I hope you enjoyed tonight's match as I did - and here comes the stats screen now...

ImageMatchReport.aspx

6 out of 30 successful blocks. The hell happened out there? Knights were really out-powered in the field.
But that doesn't change the result.

Until then. See you next week for Knights of Codexia vs 8 Eyes!
(And hopefully not another draw)
