Yeah different level design, a more flushed out economic portion and a more coherent story. Possibility to go in with more mechs, possibility to capture assets for income. etc etc.

I think they got a solid core here, but now they need to really build it out.

coop would be a lot of fun too.

RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth
I've started playing this (got it for free on GOG), how's the difficulty scales? Is it only in enemies number/types, enemies IA or is there some kind of number scaling, making you weaker/enemies stronger?

Regarding the story, is it explained who are we working for? (I haven't finished the campaign, but I don't mind spoilers)

The difficulty curve is peculiar, higher tier missions are of course harder and you're rewarded far more if you complete missions with shit vehicles (pardon, "skill-based" vehicles). There's a fascinating system behind the pseudo random campaigns linked to the vehicle unlocks ( powerful vehicles are cheap and shitty ones are expensive but they give you more rewards) and pilots influence the enemy density you get in pseudo random campaigns.

The problem is, by the time you'll finish the standard missions, you'll have already seen everything the game has to offer ten times over and why the fuck should you grind randomly generated maps?

Also, you're a megacorp stooge, there's no great reveal and the plot is perfunctory. Think of it as if Castro died in the 90ies and a bunch of bloodthirsty megacorps invaded Cuba to get casinos and exploitation up again in two days.

Gotta give credit to Stellar Jockeys for handling it as well as they did. Basically used Mandalore's review (which came out the same Friday they made the apology) to completely cover up the extremely small negative reception they got because of the leaked posts via positive review bomb as well as announcing a delay for Brigador Killers to 2021 before writing the "apology" a few days later. Even if Jack was taking a break (which I doubt since he's the co-founder of both Stellar Jockeys and Gaussworks as well as the fact that he "stepped down" to an "official consultant" role and the fact that his profile is still on their official website) he's been writing new lore stuff for Killers on their Discord which is already a sign he's more or less back on the project fully. Add in all the other "MeToo" shit that was conveniently coming out within that time frame that was much bigger such as the Ubisoft allegations, and they got away with it mostly scot-free. Doubly so given the free giveaway on GOG last December. The fairly pitiful views on that video and the general like/dislike ratio is a very good sign of how little of a fuck people give/know about the scenario. So long as Sseth reviews Killers near launch, it'll absolutely stifle any chance of this biting them in the ass.

BIG UPDATE INCOMING FOR BRIGADOR
Back up your modded version just in case

ATTENTION ALL MODDERS
A detailed changelog will come with the update to Brigador: Up-Armored Edition itself, but like with our last update in December 2020, the update is going to affect both the game's assets packfile and reset the global.json to the intended state.
This will nullify whatever mods you may have set up or other alterations you have made to the game's data
. Click below to find out how to back up a copy of the game.

How to Back Up Brigador

ATTENTION ALL NON-MODDERS
Nothing to worry about - but maybe check out the game's existing community compilation within the modkit when you're ready? We have a guide on how to get started, how to make maps, and so on.

Welcome to
The Blood Anniversary
update for Brigador: Up-Armored Edition! Today we celebrate our fifth anniversary since our 1.0 launch with new visual effects, new content and a very special week-long sale of
66% off everything
that
ends June 14th 10:00 Pacific Time
. Whether you only just discovered us in the past year, or have been following the game all the way since its closed alpha in 2014 - thank you.
BLOOD
Non-mechanical NPCs now meet a more obviously gruesome end

HatQqxB.gif

You may find that the first campaign level
Awake On Foreign Shores
will now feel a little different to play (this feature can be toggled on/off in
SETTINGS
).

CRATERS
Several weapons will now leave impact craters on the ground tiles in levels (this feature can be toggled on/off in
SETTINGS
).

But wait there's more

✈️PILOTS
We spoke to our friends at Fractal Softworks and Consumer Softproducts, who have informed us that
three new Brigadors
are available for Freelance operations. Spoilers ahead, only click if you want to know before booting up.

Show Spoilers

These guest cameo pilots will all exclusively fight wildcard spawnlists if you choose them as your pilot in Freelance mode.

CAMPAIGN
Four optional missions have been added to
Campaign mode
that are powersuit-focused (completion of these missions is not required to progress the campaign).

x2ZeVZU.gif

FREELANCE
All runs in Freelance now have a chance to spawn a "wildcard" list of enemies during play. Previously, the game would pick a faction to spawn and choose a palette of enemy vehicles for that faction, while the difficulty of that palette would be according to both your run progress and pilot choice.

Wildcard spawnlists still pick a faction, but on a particular theme. For example, a Spacer wildcard spawnlist might be a couple of boss vehicles, with a swarm of kamikaze agravs in tow, while a Corvid wildcard spawnlist would be almost all fast vehicles like tread bikes and grav bikes.

With this change we hope to introduce more variety to Freelance runs and keep players on their toes.

VEHICLES
The
Zed Prime
is now available for use in Freelance mode. It is an Ultra-class agrav with twin heavy hardpoints. Please be sure to keep an eye on your ammo count when using double Otomos.

BS9Luru.gif

Currently,
eleven more vehicles are now available for play
(we will be adding more playable vehicles to the roster in a follow-up patch later this month). Meanwhile, several vehicles - like the Corvid
Rat King
, the Loyalist
Monarch
and the Spacer
Usul
- now have additional auto-firing turrets.

FxNu9cO.gif

Auto-firing weapons have a separate ammo count in green and
do not affect your primary and secondary weapon choices
. You can toggle the auto fire function on and off by pressing V on your keyboard, which can be rebound in
SETTINGS
.

LORE
The
SNC Informatics Division
notes the addition of new material, available for perusal in the
INTEL
section of
ACQUISITIONS
, pending the transfer of necessary funds.

Zkbfoe7.gif

LIGHTING
Prior to 2017's Up-Armored Edition, the game had different lighting for Freelance levels. We have included the old lighting data for these levels which you can toggle to via the new USE OLD LIGHTING option in
SETTINGS
.

RFglMgt.gif

In order to apply old lighting, you will need to
restart
a level via the pause menu.

CHEATS & EASTER EGGS
You can now activate various cheats via the
SETTINGS
menu. Please note that using these toggles
will
disable achievements. The Easter Eggs toggle you see in the Settings menu will become fully functional later this month in a follow up patch.

ACHIEVEMENTS
Two new achievements have been added, which will be bestowed upon you pending completion of the new campaign missions, as well as unlocking all the new additions to
ACQUISITIONS
. As of time of posting, the new achievements may not yet be fully functional - we are working on addressing this.

⚙STABILITY & PERFORMANCE
We have made some performance improvements to the engine that should hopefully impact lower-end machines. With the assistance of our community, we have also done a more thorough benchmarking of the game's hardware requirements on PC and Linux. The game's
minimum specs
to get an acceptable constant 60 fps at 720p (providing you turn off VSYNC, set NORMAL DETAILS to Low and turn off both POINT SHADOWS and DIRECTIONAL SHADOWS) on Windows are now:
OS: Windows 10
Processor: Dual core CPU with Passmark score of 2900 or more
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon 5770 / NVIDIA GTX 460 or better
Storage: 1 GB available space
on Linux:
OS: Debian 10 or Ubuntu 20.04
Processor: Dual core CPU with Passmark score of 2900 or more
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon 5770 / NVIDIA GTX 460 or better
Storage: 1 GB available space

Special thanks to Eschaton, Loki and Hara in particular for running benchmarking tests.

Lastly the game is now a stable 64 bit version for Windows, Mac and Linux.

MODKIT
We warned in our news post last week that modders should back up their copy of the game if they wished to preserve any changes. If you have not yet done so, the
simplest
way to back up a modded version of the game is to make a copy of your Brigador folder somewhere else on your computer. By default on PC this is usually
C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Brigador

Due to the update we are still in the process of updating the community compilation to work with the new version of the game. In the next few weeks the Modkit & Map Editor DLC will be updated, along with a new community compilation in it after our follow up patch (many thanks to SCOREGOBLIN and our Discord Modding Experts for their feedback and work).

However, that won't prevent you from modding your copy of Brigador. If you are new to modding, we have a guide on how to get started (check out Section 4). You will still be able to tinker via the debug panel and change weapon damage values or fool around with other data in the game.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL MAC USERS
This update will be the
last
update for Mac OS platforms. This is for - but not limited to - two big reasons:

Both of these together mark a fundamental change in how Mac machines function. From this point on it is only a matter of time until OpenGL itself disappears from Apple's operating systems, and with it the ability to run Brigador. Though projects like MoltenGL exist, the amount of work that would be required to make Brigador functional on a modern Apple machine will be unjustifiable. That said, we don't expect any
major
updates to Brigador after this update, but from this point on we will no longer continue to support Mac devices. If you are a Mac user reading this in the future, please contact us✉ about your store purchase.

I think it's pretty lame all things considered. The tutorial is like 500 missions long, gameplay is pretty unvaried and gets boring real fast and this whole reddit tier le epic 80's soundtrack is completely out of place seeing as nothing about the game screams 80's. Controls and visual feedback are not as good as they could be either. What bothers me the most is that it just fails at the basics of an action game. This is mostly due to lacklustre sfx and art direction. If I'm piloting a 20 ft tall mech I don't want it to make the sound of a mobility scooter when it walks around and when I stomp entire blocks with it, I don't want it to sound like I knocked over a garbage can. When I blow up another mech with a 90mm howitzer I want that bitch to go flying in a million pieces not just go click-poof and turn into a greyed out version of itself. That shit needs to go EEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOO-PBBGNBNGNBNGNBNGNBNMYLEG. If you catch my drift

Fun fact my steam review for the game got deleted most likely at the request by butthurt devs. I also pointed out how one of the main devs was a cringy holocaust denier so that was probably it.

Answered in the corresponding thread, the previous one already got sidtracked a lot.
Contrary to popular belief, the infamous "80's synthwave aesthetic" don't have a lot to do with the actual 80's , it's a weird case of mandela effect plus phantasmed past.
The whole isometric 3d shenanigan indeed have sometimes very awkward shooting angle.
Also, as Baud pointed, with how much dezoomed the camera is, it's more some sort of tactical shooting game than close-up action.
The game has flaw, but I still think most people are disappointed in it because the game is not what you wan it to be.

I keep Brigador always installed and give it a whirl when i just want to lay back while listening to a podcast.
Haven't played in a few months and now that i come back to it i find out that there are new vehicles to test.
Now i have a few more reasons to play it.

Yeah, they still update it relatively frequently, by adding new vehicle and new map. They probably want to keep the community alive and around before releasing the sequel.

Lmao there actually isn't one single bit of news on Killers. Journos and reddit got nothing and they haven't tweeted since last winter. My theory is that they only planned a sequel to mitigate the subpar sales from the first game but abandoned that thought after the Mandalorebux came flowing in.

For now, they seems to concentrate on keeping regular brigador updated, but I have this nagging feeling you don't really care either way.
