I will bring back Shoutbox permanently - but only for those who donated - if this year's current campaign raises it's $6k target.
So technically, a donation of $0.01 qualifies for shoutbox access if the $6000 is reached (which it probably won't)?
Well I could set a $100 minimum but if it's going to happen, it's more likely someone will donate some stupid amount and everyone else will pile on.

Also the probability of it happening is low so I'm also not really worried?

The alternative is I get another $5k in the PayPal account. There's no bad outcome for me under this scenario.

What about shoutbox packages ? Pay $1 per reply. Buy packs of 50. Easy money.

I'm sure at some point, in a desperate bid to raise funds once this plan fails, we will find some way to monetise the shoutbox.

it's amazing how former eager users of shoutbox, who literally used to live there, suddenly become their worst opponents. The most prominent example is probably Crispy who never seems to tire of neglecting his former burning desire for it.
If shoutbox would be really so unpopular, why was it always bursting with people and conversations, one has to ask

The most vocal opponents of its return were always among the top 20 shoutboxers. Granted a lot of them have ejected since.

i'm fairly certain that from a psychological point of view there is a technical term for this

Insert Title Here Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut
Last time I donated, half the money was given to crispy and the other half was used to pay for the buggiest forum software in existence, so clearly there is zero financial acumen here. Instead we should solve this as gentlemen in a Warband tournament to the death.

What? Suddenly become whose worst opponents? Their own? Do you even English?

The most prominent example is probably Crispy who never seems to tire of neglecting his former burning desire for it.
What does this even mean? I've said clearly several times I don't want Shoutbox back. I think Codex is better off without it. If you're (still) upset about something I said to you in it, get over it.

By the way, to neglect something is to mistreat it. How would I somehow be mistreating my "former" "burning desire" to... have Shoutbox back?

Please stop posting here. You're stupid.

I guess. ESL does particularly irritate me.
