Burning Stars is a 4X turn based strategy game Im doing now for the past several years, and Id like to finally take the opportunity to introduce it here to the forums:

Concept stuff

Starting point for the game concept was the almighty Master of Orion I (MoO II had better graphics, but I found the concept of the game much less attractive) but I want to add the following technical features:
  • modern screen resolution support
  • better multiplayer support (up to 16 players, matchmaking, game lobby)
Gamplay (in relation to MoO I)
  • much bigger maps with more AOIs like derelict starbases and colonies
  • more than one planet per star system
  • individual building types you can build multiple times
  • resource harvesting
  • thee stage production (i.e. resource -> factory -> shipyard) / two stage research
  • colonies on starbases and asteroids
  • hidden colonies
  • RTS ship combat (which limits the amount of ships in a battle somewhat)
Setting

The setting I have in mind is pretty dark, with the player actually Resettling the galaxy some decades after the human empire collapsed and most of the galaxy being ravaged and poisoned in a great civil war.

More Information

The game website is http://burningstarsonline.com (please don't flame for it, its in dire need of some updates, but I have only recently continued working on the game after a long pause due to several reasons, birth of children and lots of work being among them), and lately Ive been showing my progress on twitter (@skelet0nstudi0s).

Project Status

As for the status of the project, Id estimate its 70% complete for PC and MAC. Galaxy generation is working, you have your fist colony (as well as the AI if selected), you can construct new buildings and design and build ships, research is working and ships are firing in RTS battle.
Whats missing is the construction of new starbases, some more RTS AI and tons of game art and game asset (ships, technologies, ...) definitions.

Id be very happy to listen to your comments, suggestions, questions and of course (constructive?) criticism on my mission and am hoping to use this thread tocollect feedback on a regular basis. Have a nice weekend!

Skeletor If this game still in the development/feedback collection phase, you might want to ask for this thread to be moved to the Codex Workshop forum.

I humbly ask, after finding no way to do it myself ;)
