Is it considered bad form to catch up on sleep during the slow parts of a game?

It's mainly just talking anyway. You can wake up when you hear 'Roll initiative.'

Sir, why are you posting this in the public library?

You can't fool me like that, this time I'm sure it's the gazebo.

Given the combat in most systems with no homebrew, "roll initiative" should be replaced with "it's your turn".

Is the GM that BORING or just inexperienced? Usually people fall asleep during combat.

If you're sleeping during a game, if the GM is worth his salt, the wake up call should be:
"Roll for anal circumference!"

In Shadowrun the boring part IS the combat.
It's even more boring when you don't have magic and the magic users start arguing about the mechanics of their Hogwarts shit.
