Do Witcher 1 on a shoestring budget yet almost every quest branches in some way: flex

Do Witcher 2 with less content but more narrative branching and one of the biggest forks in gaming: it ain't no thing brah

Do Witcher 3 which is basically a GTA/C&C hybrid, shame Grunker's prediction that this will kill any narrative branching and thus annihilate the only worthwhile part of the Witcher-series: yeah you know we poles we pay slave wages we can build this shit you dumb danish cunt

Do Witcher 3 with guns: HOLY SHIT WHAT IS THIS BRANCHING QUEST DESIGN THIS CANNOT BE DONE IT IS SURELY HELL
The cycle of a western RPG series is like a tree from top to bottom: at first there's loads of branches. Some small, some big, but they contribute to the whole in an organic fashion. Then there's still branches, big ones that from what we've got that still provide ample shape but it lacks the wide spread of what we had first. Then we reach the main trunk, where there's no branches and there's just a single path going in a straight line. And then we reach the bottom of the trunk, where it goes INTO THE FUCKING GROUND.

CDPR is bsing and selling cope for their fanboys, Witcher 2 had a really good branching narrative that branched right on the end of act 1 and placed Witcher 3 and Cyberbug to shame, the real reason developers think non linearity is that hard is for marketing reasons not design reasons, they make games for the normie herd that care about something like 200 Oblivion dungeons on the box.

Also, any developer that come with bullshit hyperbole falacy of linear movie vs combinatorial explosion is selling cope and he is a hack, there is a nice middle ground between linear movie and combinatorial explosion, the probably didnt do it because Keanu Reeves would be too expensive and their plan of cruching 100% of the time and pray that everything goes alright on the last year of the project didnt work out.

- They are hiring non stop for C77 since release. CDPR page is still full of jobs too. "Next Gen" version is 100% in works for PS5/Xbpxserieswhateverfuckitnamewas along with TW3 "next gen" update.
All that tells me is that the company is experiencing a massive turnover of workers, which is never a good thing, and indicative of a miserable work environment and incompetent management.

- C77 also had planned 2 expansions and huge multiplayer mode coming nearly 2 years after release (afte two expansions).
First they would need to fix the glaring issues with the gameplay, before adding more pointless content on top. That being said, it's obvious they either lack the talent or the ability to improve optimization and core game systems.

Also, who gives a flying fuck about a multiplayer mode for a game this badly coded and optimized?

- They recently hired team of modders who released wolvenkit for C77. They will be working on modding tools for C77.
You know who else hired modders to work on a game? John Romero.

Do you want to know what said modders ultimately delivered? Daikatana.

Codex Year of the Donut
Company with thousands of employees hiring more to work on a game already released is not something to brag about.
I'd be more impressed when they fire half their workers randomly.

why are you twisting around argument? It was response to claim that title is abandoned. Nothing about game turning 360 degrees

They did the branching quest design in chapter 1. That quest in the factory where you have to buy the robot/drone was very well done. (you know, the only one they always showed people before release)

After that money, time and/or ambition run out for the rest of the game.
That mission is what I like to call a "press demo area". Done way early in the development cycle, a lot more time and effort go into that, to be repeatedly shown to journalists, making them believe this non-linearity to be representative for the whole game. When in reality it isn't. Not intentionally tho, CDPR just woke up and realized they cannot put that many slave hours into everything. It's a bit like a prototype.
Actually the entire Watson area is a "press demo". The whole reason it gets closed is just so the youtubers can play a hands on for some hours without seeing too much. So Watson also got as many Gigs and encounters as half of the city together.

You could pretty much say: "The Pickup" was what they wanted to do... if only they had 10 years more time. :hahano:

What they showed off still had more options than what ended up in the game.

They said they will never do something like that again though.

So is this game good yet?

Doesn't seem like it'll ever be. In contrast to witchers there has been almost no patching or word on major content updates. Seems abandoned tbh

Facts:
- They are hiring non stop for C77 since release. CDPR page is still full of jobs too. "Next Gen" version is 100% in works for PS5/Xbpxserieswhateverfuckitnamewas along with TW3 "next gen" update.
- C77 also had planned 2 expansions and huge multiplayer mode coming nearly 2 years after release (afte two expansions).
- They recently hired team of modders who released wolvenkit for C77. They will be working on modding tools for C77.

So probably the "enchanced edition" coming will be substential rework/expansion. PR is an eye of baholder and they probably want to concetrate good PR around launch so no reason to release major updates other than fixing bugs when overall pecepcion of game on consoles is bad.
I bet you also bought several Star Citizen ships.

A lot of new people bought the game on sale, played a few hours and gave it a positive review. Because CP77 IS a good game for the first few hours.

It will be interesting to see how many will change their rating after finishing the game.

Looks great if you have a computer built to fight god. Even after a year of patches, the game is rather unstable at times, and some of the graphical glitches are unfortunate. Gameplay is serviceable, story is good with glimmers of greatness. Either way, could use some more time in the oven
