Original Johnny concept art.

Anyway remember that random reddit "leak" from "game developer"

"Our original Johnny was heavily inspired by David Hayter's Solid Snake from the first MGS and believe it or not "

Could there be some truth to that?
Reminds me off that "You're a white male!!!" guy
AIDs Skrillex is his name, and it suits OG Johnny just as well.

Even the stuff for some of the space scenes gets spawned in to the open world map above Rocky Ridge (mild ending spoilers I guess)

The model of Crystal Palace (the space station) is small, which isn't really surprising.
Also, Earth is hollow confirmed :D

In case it has not been posted, here is a concept art for the original Evelyn (have to link, can't upload now)
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/3dx40B

After seeing that, it made me remember what bothered me about her, as an example how CDPR made awsome setpieces that did not really fit into the narrative.

When you meet her at Lizzie's she is an excellent femme fatale from a film noir. Cunning, beautiful, mysterious, confident, scheming... all that. And it seems she is a high class escort, that got hired for the job due to her exclusive clientel.
That sequence was so well done, you happily want to experience again.

Then you find out she is a doll from clouds and things fall apart. Dolls are shown to be ditzy trailer trash, disposable meat only hired for their looks, who only git gud when the chip takes over.

Evelyn suddently goes from someone used to serving clients at Konpeki Plaza to a depressed bottom feeder whining to Judy about her sorry lot she wants to escape from?
Does not work.

Lizzie's does not work either. Bouncer stresses it's basically just a VR porn booth with no physical contact, yet Judy tells you she gets her BD material from Moxes doing it with their clients. Wut. Make up your goddamn mind game. :argh:

And, unless I mix it up, another example is the Riot club.
When Johnny takes over and goes there, it's a brightly lit neon stripclub (and when he has an accident after driving a few minutes he is still in front of it, because...reasons), but when the player gets access to it, it's a dim lit industrial club with a stage. :hahano:
Because the interior was made for Kerry's mission (and reused for Lizzy).
The city is yuge, with countless unused clubs and buildings available. Nope, we use this one.

It always makes me feel like there were two seperate teams at CDPR: the game designers and a bunch of wannabe movie artists as some higher up's pet project.
They did not talk to each other, they just got told to put it in.
Sad. Just sad.

Shit, when you you start thinking too much about it, nothing really makes sense.
Like the Street Kid origin: V grew up in Heywood, where everyone leaves or joins the Failentinos, yet she never joined them, nor is she on good terms with them. She frequents the Coyote Coyo enough to be chummy with Pepe. She knows Padre, the cop, Mama Wells, but never met Jackie. Or Misty, who grew up there as well.

Only the Nomad makes sense, being a newcomer with no knowledge of the city, just like the player.

Makes you wonder even more if that was the original plan: a fixed Nomad character. Certainly gave me the best.... immershun.

Funfact: the lifepath pictures are actually reused Bushido movie poster with the lower half missing. :hahano:
All three of them are hanging in the gym area of V's megablock.

Bah, think it's time for another break. Tried playing a bit last night but I simply ended up getting annoyed. No bugs or anything, just the game itself.

Skipped some time to see if I could get the Cthulhu Quadra and check if a mod works and bam, Panam calls again. Seriously, this chick's got more issues than a Cyberpunk bug tracker. So away I go and it's more of walk to quest marker, press button, receive "heartfelt cinematic moment" and repeat, and I just can't take it anymore. Doesn't help that Panam's not very sympathetic to begin with - same problem with authority that Silverhand has, minus the humour. These walking simulator sequences are getting really tedious, there's the odd bit of fun gameplay to be had, but it's wrapped in too much vacuous character drama.

Need to cleanse my palate with something, but I just finished my latest DX replay. Maybe I'll fuck around in Enderal for a bit.

Eh, you're not wrong.

But you're overthinking it IMO. You approach it as it were some kind of art.
Meanwhile its consumer entertainment... one pretty flawed, at that.
Relax. Chill. Be entertained...
Sure, there are gaps. Holes even. The game resembles patchwork in some places.
Still, it oozes atmosphere. And the real question should IMO be:
Is it fun?

You don't like staring at her ass? Are you... gay???? :hahano:

But I get you, she is irritating, needy and yells all the time. And she is always right in the end, making my "strong womyn feminist agenda writing" sense tingle far too often. :argh:

I prefer (old) Rogue. That's how you do a stronk independant womyn. Best waifu. Dat hip sway.

V: "Do you have any more jobs for me?"
Rogue: "Kid you had one job and fucked it up spectacularly. How would I look putting you on a crew? Go do what you... do best."

Sad.

Yeah, it was frankly a bit surprising how Panam casually made up an elaborate plan how to bring that transport AV down using a local contraption (and carelessly interrupting power supply to the city). All on her own, on the spot, like it was nothing out of the ordinary for her. V was basically a pawn in these missions.

That reminds me: has anyone played that mission without 10 tech?
For me that line replaced the yellow line and the dialog later did not really match what was happening. Johnny was ranting in the car to get away while we were already far away as if EMP burst were hitting us. Does something like that happen if you DON'T have the tech to ovenload it inside?

I had no music when I got there as well. And the bartender was complaining that he needed sound filtering implants to survive lmao

(I assume the music is Samizdat Radio, which is also funny, because that radio station consists of a total of 5(five) songs all by the same DJ)

Funniest part about that club is when you use the cameras: look at the DJ on stage, switch to the camera outside, switch back and... omg, a new DJ already! Didn't I see her outside 2 seconds ago? :hahano:

While she slept no less! And in the end it didn't work and she spawns a SAM and shoots it down. Why not just start with that? :hahano:

Well, to be honest, it did affect the AV. It probably might have used countermeasures against that rocket attack, were it not for the EMP pulse.

I did. You still overload it. Only V suffers a surge from each breaker/whatever. Eventually he's hardly able to move on his own.

I think my Tech was lower when I did that mission but I don't know exactly what's supposed to change. I went in, pressed some buttons (shocker, I know), then started getting distortions and Silverhand freaking out as we drove away.

P.S. Just for you.

So it is exactly the same with or without the tech line.

BTW, if you decide to leave Silverhand in V(alerie)'s body, does it mean he is a tranny?
And if your Valerie had a peanus to begin with, have you come full circle?

Reminds me of Mr "impressive cock"s line: "Your parts are either too small or too big."
I am sorry that her peanus intimidates you dude, at least Rogue did not complain. :hahano:

Fuck that Oda guy!! "shimEEE... shimmmEEY.... SHIMEEEEYY!!"

His fight really emphasizes how sluggish and and awkward movement is, avoiding his melee attacks with dodge is excruciating, feels like V is stuck in quicksand the whole fight. Oda finally bugged out at around 20% health and got stuck in mid air so I could just nail him in his stupid face with my gigantic sniper rifle. I guess I got lucky that he bugged out next to a platform so I could actually reach him to interact and continue mission.

For all this suffering, you could have just positioned himself from him behind one of those walls

At this stage of the game, Act 3, drives home how schizophrenic the design is. The "you are about to die, main quest is urgent, URGENT" is laid on really thick, I feel like doing anything other than finishing the game completely destroys any verisimilitude with the character and the story. But I could spend another 40 hours bumbling around Night City doing peoples laundry and rescuing stray cats...

This shit has gotta stop, if you wanna make 100+ hour open world game STOP making 'world is ending, or I am dying' main quests, do something that actually fits with narrative flow of open world design.

:brofist:

It's the same in almost every modern open world game now, starting from Witcher 2's "I need to rescue Triss ASAP, clock is ticking" and TW3 obviously all the way. And then you have, among others, "BOSS we received a contract to extract a prisoner from execution/Cipher's caravan is on its way/there's no telling(...)", "Orthur, you need to rescue Sean/John/Micah/Reverend/Tilly/the X is tonight", "I need to find Dad ASAP/Shaun ASAP/2nd Battle of Hoover Dam can happen any moment now!"

All of that just makes you appreciate Fallout 1's honesty. "You have X days and that's it."

Might be. Haven't been to that one yet, but since he ended outside Riot, I assumed he came from there. Welp, that explains how he did't get far in the car then. :hahano:
