Combining your suggestions, what you will try to do is:Go help the man busy with the opponent + the centipede, kill the centipede first (seems it's small enough to be within our martial reach). Afterwards, take him and go help the guys fighting against the horsemen. If those people are not there, try to hunt for the tattooed man (if you find him) All the while, try to look out for arrows, and to see archers if you can.
Thanks for your votes, it's nice seeing a good debate
53 – Fight in the night
You decide that the man to your left is the one most in need of your help. For a brief moment you think of fleeing in the night, but it would be too coward when you don't even know if the fight can be won or not. The small centipede seems to be something you could kill, and so you start to run in its direction. Giving the two fighting men a wide berth, you reach the flank of the soldier and with a feint you quickly kill the small centipede. Truth to be told, it's not a difficult opponent, you just have to make sure he can't bite you since you're almost sure he's poisonous. But he's not very big. He tried to bite your lower leg but you quickly moved it out of the way and plunged the sword in its body.
Satisfied that the insect is dead, you turn around and start attacking the enemy soldier trying to stay the opposite side of your ally. You're not very good with the sword actually, but the enemy doesn't know, and trying to avoid being surrounded he lets his guard down against the soldier. This mistake is fatal, as a sword cuts through his chain mail, leaving him agonizing on the ground. The soldier thanks you with a quick nod, then after a couple of words you both run to help the men fighting against enemy horsemen.
With your arrival, the tide turns and those enemies are quickly killed as well. You do not score any vital hit, but you are a distraction at least, and that's all your allies need to finish your foes. You are slightly injured though, a shallow cut on your left arm. Nothing serious luckily, but you guess you should really learn how to dodge as well...
You are wondering what to do right now, when an arrow embeds itself in the side of one of the soldiers. The arrow seems to have come from somewhere close. You exchange a quick glance with the soldiers, then you all start to charge towards the place where the arrow came from. You have no choice, there is no possible cover all around, the terrain is completely flat. You do let the soldiers run ahead though, after all they have shields and you do not.
You leave the lit area around the campfire, and after a few meters you find a group of two enemy archers. The fight is violent and chaotic, the light is scarce. Your heart beats loudly, you feel no tiredness at all. Soon, it is over. You had no losses, though one of the soldiers is slightly injured. You were not hit, but your blade is now smeared in blood. You feel sick, it's the first time you hit another human being. But now is not the time to think about that.
The soldiers are uncertain about what to do. There still seems to be some serious fighting going on in the center of the caravan. You try to persuade them, saying decisively that you need to go where you can help the most. They agree after a moment's hesitation, maybe they know that you are an advisor of sort to Kalz. You quickly look around, trying to assess what is going on. As you are now outside of the lit area, you can actually see better. You have four men with you, all professional soldiers and mostly unhurt.
The fight seems to be rather violent, but you do not see that many enemies. At most fifteen you think. Your guards should outnumber the enemies more or less two to one from what you can see. The fight is concentrated on the central area of the encampment, and the enemy soldiers are divided in three main groups. A small group on the right side, facing off against an equal number of your soldiers. A bigger group in the middle, outnumbered but rather compact. And a couple of lone enemies on the left side. You could potentially attack any of these groups from behind. A few, arm-sized centipedes are running around the camp.
You are about to speak when you hear something. A chilling, unnatural sound that is somewhat familiar. You strain you eyes in the darkness, and notice a small group of enemies far away from the main fight. You think there's three men, and you are sure the sound is coming from one of them. It might be the same as the sound the tattooed man made at Qoor.... You think there's a couple of rather small things crawling on the ground with them, maybe centipedes.
You have no more time to look around, the soldiers are starting to get impatient.
What are you going to to Kyoss? You think the soldiers will follow your directions if they make sense. Another open update, obviously
