Totally incoherent story that makes no sense
It makes sense,but it is still stupid and bloated by trying to tackle a lot of stuff(fate,pollution,nature vs technology,etc) and failing hard.
Repetitive and boring combat that gives you nothing
The combat gives you materials which you will need to buy weapons/armor.You can also get elements with traps and items with steal.
Sprigg also learns enemy forms from combat.
The system feels unrewarding because the usual combat reward jrpg system has added a additional step that was not needed.
Obnoxious and generic characters you don't care about
Minus Kid,not really seeing this.
Most of the characters barely get any screen time to be obnoxious.
Generic,no.This game has :
-A pirate
-A mushroom
-Clown girl
-Wrestler
-Old stage magician
-Robot
Generic ,party members they are not.You could potentially break the tropes down by type(animal/plant guy and similar),but even then the deign are unique enough.
The picture speaks for itself.
Almost no real variation in the environments.
Hell no.Some locations:
There is a major tropical theme(which is the point).But,there is plenty of variations.I mean just compare any of the starting locations to the dead isle.
And even among the tropical locations there is plenty of difference in detail.
The only good thing about it what the intro FMV.
And the music,and the graphics are pretty good for a psx game.
