Oh for fuck's sake, this just keeps getting worse and worse. The Codex will scale to your level in Project Eternity:

http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/60883-level-scaling-confirmed/

Actually, we've known for a while now that the game would have some form of level scaling.

Somehow the Codex didn't rage too much over it.

Morrowind had some scaling and nobody cared. What the codex hates is the "goblins are now as strong as your demigod" kind of level scaling.

I wonder what MCA thought when he saw the fellatio for $1,000 part of the post. On the front page of the prestigious RPG Codex magazine, of all the places!

I wonder if he... considered...

You motherfucking ninja cockbags.

I don't know. I've just been getting increasingly bad feelings about this Obsidian KS and nothing they've shown me has convinced me that I'll care about this game. My benefit of the doubt can only stretch so far. I did say "Until further notice" though and not "Fuck those losers forever!" Admit it though: They look like they are scrambling to make shit up as they go here. And not in a very convincing way.

Reading all of the quotes on the front page, it really sounds like the cooldowns are more likely replacing the rest system while you will still have to make choices about what spells you have available to cast.
Thank you for reading what I wrote.

I don't know where this topic came from, but I don't expect to use level scaling much, if at all, in PE.

Sub guise.

Fair enough. It IS your money after all. But why then did you blindly back WL2? It is as vague in exact specifics as is this Obsidian game.

But why then did you blindly back WL2?

At the time it was the first and only hope. And come on...Wasteland 2! We'd been waiting forever for that news! Annnnnd knowing they'd (BF and JA) already worked on a significant portion of the game (at least enough to have been pitching it for some time).

Plus, man, the PA setting (sci-fi), guns, and party creation turn based tactical combat for me. Also old (important as they probably haven't been diseased with decline too much and it won't give them ideas :D ) W1 devs and Mark Morgan music. :bounce:

It would be funny if the cooldowns would be like in D&D, 8 hours for spellmemorization and a day in divine magic (or something like that). There would be some serious flip-flopping among the people here. :D

I don't think you understand what flip-flopping means, Matt-san.
Random devs says: There will be cooldowns.
The Codex: Fuck this shit, I withdraw my pledge
Tim Cain says: Thre was some miscommunication. There are no cooldowns.
The Codex: Yeah!!! Increasing my pledge.

That is flip-flopping in my book.

Are you serious? Flip-flopping is reversing your stand on an issue. No one is reversing their stand here - the stand is being against cooldowns. In other words:

Random devs says: There will be cooldowns.
The Codex: I am against cooldowns, so I'm not upping my pledge.
Tim Cain says: There was some miscommunication. There are no cooldowns.
The Codex: Cool, because I am against cooldowns.

Sometimes you are a bit thick, J_C.
The flip-flopping wasn't referring to the cooldowns. I was using it for the "I hate the game - now I love the game - now I hate it again" attitude the Codex feels.

But that's Obsidian flip-flopping.
Sawyer was the one who talked about the game using level scaling? If he was, that it is fliip-flopping. But if just some randon Obsidian dev made a comment, without consulting the lead designer, I wouldn't call it a flip-flopping.

Yep, Sawyer was the one talking about level scalling.

I'm a complete ass, I keep mixing the two up.

Some internal inconsistency there, though, Obs.

Well, it happens with the best political parties. Some guys at Obsidian should have a STFU tag until the lead devs announce something.

By the way, I can't remember the last time debates where this intensive and I wrote this much on the 'dex in a short period of time.

Whatever happens, this fucking Kickstarter-thing has managed to reawaken us, and perhaps the best days have yet to come.

Well at this stage, the player will be meeting a single bloke ($1k, design an NPC) who sells you a saddle ($1k, epic item). That will also give us 10 digital copies and 2 collector's copies (with T-shirts) that we'll work out what to do with.

Exactly. Fargo has to have had a lot of concepts and mechanics pinned down in his head to have tried to pitch the game and get rejected over the years. He communicated very solid points with clarity. Turn-fucking-based. Party-based. . Not this "Real-Time with Pause, JUST LIKE IE GAMES! Except without the rounds and now with cool-downs and fucking-god-knows-what-else-so-it's-not-really-like-IE-games-but-it's-easy-to-namedrop-old-shit. They don't even know the details of the game themselves, they are making it up as they go only now unlike Fargo.
