The power of awesome graphics.

This game is getting so much attention in press (and see the comments on every post they make) compared to Frayed Knights. This pretty much answers the big question about graphics being important to most gamers or not.

And this a the source of part of my grumpyness. Any extra exposure and sales the graphix wins for this game will result in moar FPP RT games.....which we really don't lack these days.

Where's the reason to be grumpy here? Presentation is an important part of everything man-made. Including the man himself.

When it comes to music good pieces can be ignored if recorded on crap quality equipment and purely technical qualities are lacking - even a poorly chosen project's name or a poor album cover can lead to a failure. When it comes to movies a shit movie recorded on pro equipment and directed by pro craftsmen will gather more interest than a conceptually excellent film made with a shaky amateur cam and piss poor montage. Damn, you can give people some food that tastes absolutely delicious yet almost no one will eat it if it looks like shit on a platter.

Craftsmanship (PR included) decides what your first impressions of any product or work of art will be. The more subtle qualities are important later, when someone actually becomes interested and dedicates time and effort to consume something. This is even more important when you're a newcomer as the group that could give you the benefit of doubt is extremely limited and hard to reach.

To me it's the quality in artwork that is most dramatic. Frayed Knight looks almost as stupid as the average anime JRPG.
And that webcomic humor.

Also, remember that this game is being developed for Ipad which of course greatly increases media attention.

Luckily you know about both, and can buy both, or either, or neither. As you see fit.

I don't get the idiotic moaning about it being turn based or about it getting more attention than a turn based game. There are one button browser games that will get far more publicity than both this game and FK put together. Who cares? As long as enough sales are made for indies to continue to make games like this, all is well and good.
