Codex Meta Thread: a thread about threads

Dear, good evening;


the discussion (here: <https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads/crpgaddict.54062/page-73>) about must play games gave the idea to propose a thread highlighting Codex’s must read archives.

Since I joined just some months ago, what are important and famous threads that shaped the community? Could be an entire thread, an important interaction (pages of a thread), some interesting or different remark (by prestigious users, developers, critics).

I feel the urge to say that I use Codex for unique takes on role-playing games (sometimes video games as a whole); I’m not that interested in defining threads regarding politics or economy, but the ones which polished what the community come to agree as indispensables to understand the phenomenon role-playing games.

The 41K one has been rescued. There is a thread where madlad Denim Demon compiled pdfs of at a couple of Codexian LPs, including 41K.

Here and here are the complete(?) databases of all the LPs. Might be useful.

Roqua's amazing threads in Retardo land is a must read. Don't forget to read Cleve's threads either. That shit is actually hilarious. This is my favorite post in that "why-did-sir-tech-go-bankrupt" thread:

I'm down in Reedy Creek, sandwiched in the ass crack of the Gold Coast, with a drug dealer to the left of me and a whorehouse to the right. I spent all my military contract and realtime profits proceeds on Pez dispensers and only had enough money to purchase a cheap kit house in a known flood plain, as close as I could get to a malarial swamp where the water table is like an inch beneath the surface. I just wanted to experience the old time charm of drunken yobs screeching at all hours of the night and crapping in my gutters.

I really enjoy it here in Reedy Creek and I want to be buried alongside the pornographers and scat party organizers down here when I die. You can't beat the hot aroma of old beer and farts that passes for air down in Reedy, it brings tears to my eyes. If the family feels like a night out, you just walk out front of this community and Mickey D's is right there across the street if you step over the fetuses and drug syringes. It's Aussie-tastic!! If only the abs had realized what the newcomers were bringing to their shores they would have run down to the shoreline to embrace the gangbang sluts and heroin addicted plumbers as they stepped off the original Gold Coast "First Fleet." It's Gold-A-Licious!
