Updated donor list. If your name is in [Square Brackets], contact me. 6 people are eligible for MCA trolls.

I'm now taking ideas on what to do with any extra cash raised. Would people prefer we dumped it all in Wasteland 2 or go for a server upgrade (which we are very desperately close to needing).

We should dump as much into W2 as possible -- meaning our presence should be as expansive as it can be. However, I'll try negotiating a deal with Fargo so we can have something left for an upgrade. Hopefully.

Well, if reaching 10k means they manage to somehow work the Codex location (tastefully) into plot relevance instead of a shrine...

Ahem... how much would you need for server upgrade?
Asking Taluntain to work out our options now.

Thing is... that is not what we agreed upon and there is still money coming in.
Yeah. To be honest, I'm more inclined to make it a separate drive but my thought was if we could still get benefits (like a game for everyone, name in the credits, plus awesome statue etc...) and raise enough then everyone wins.

Also i dont have my patron tag.
You and an army of other people I now have to sort through. I'll work that all out over the coming days.

And Sulimo, what Crooked Bee said.

:what: That soon? I thought the site just got a server upgrade?
Forum upgrade. Which reduced PHP load but thanks to everyone having the "watch this thread" e-mail notifier turned on by default, is killing the CPU spamming out e-mails (at least, that's what we think at the moment). And turns out our options to toy with those defaults are limited. Stupid XF. We're getting more people visiting the Codex regularly though so it's still on the cards if we solve that.

PM sent. Not in a particular hurry to get a response, but it'd be nice to know if the money actually reached you and wasn't intercepted by a destitute Nigerian Prince.

I guess if it takes only a few hundreds it wont matter much... maybe.
I can understand the need but it can be seen as a very bad move in this situation, as you realize yourself.

I certainly wish we get as much as possible in the deal with Fargo, and if a shrine is in it somewhere + statue inside it, would be cool if we could do some low "coast" interior ahem...decorations, or even something like i suggested.
Not to mention more digital copies.

Fine by me. No worries.

I always turn all such shit completely off. Its quite enough to get notifications inside the forums themselves.

No need to worry, hiver. By default, everything goes towards the shrine. I wonder if we could snuck an NPC or two into the shrine... It all depends on how nice Brian will be to us. :)

It might be a good idea to at some point make a list of people who (like me) donated both here and on Kickstarter and don't need a copy of the game. It will probably make the negotiations easier if you don't have to ask for 100 extra copies.

I concur with going all in for the drive, I am willing to donate an equal amount if the need arises after the kickstarter period is over. By the way, I am now out of running for receiving a digital copy technically.:x

Yeah, i already said i rescind all rewards from my codex donation for Wasteland2. I also dont need disabling commercial ads on the forums either. (no i disabled my own filters for it here)
Just a patron tag is enough and would be nice, when DU manages, no hurry.

Hopefully you can work your wily charms on Fargo :)

Im for robots instead of live NPCs. Would be hard to choose who the NPCs would be and we could have more robots, all same apart from their nicknames. Either that or graves with lulzy inscriptions.
Im sure there will be robots in the game after all.

-also- it would be cool if there was a Wasteland patron tag if possible.

-ALSO- anyone who receives notifications through email is a complete moron. Turn that shit off!

*small donation towards codex*

I may regret this but what the hell, this is life, I'm not going to be forever unemployed...right? Right???

Location: Greece
Dunno, bro. Looks bad. Fucking Merkozy.

I'd suggest waiting
a) to see how much the drive collects in the end.
b) how much W2 collects in the end.

Then you should tell the donors how much would have to go towards a server upgrade and let them vote.
Personally, I'd see codex content in W2 + a smoother codex experience as a win win situation. Especially since W2 is directly responsible for recent lags in the codex :P
But in the end the donors should decide what's to happen with their money.

Go all in for the drive(minus whatever is needed for paypal fees/taxes), auction the non-digital copies swag to pay for server upgrades.

This is actually a good idea. Since no one was technically allocated the physical 'swag' there's less of an issue of people paying for something they didn't intend to pay for -- not that server upgrades are a bad thing, but... you understand. The stuff would probably auction off for quite a bit of money: medal, figurine, signed collector's edition, the concept art, etc. etc. I could see that stuff getting $1,000 easily.

As far as 'negotiating' with Brian, honestly, I would probably just limit it to seeing if you can secure a digital copy for everyone who needs one. Maybe even ask for beta access for all, too (which honestly makes sense giving beta access to such a monocled user base). I wouldn't go overboard with the npcs or location or fill it with a bajillion in-jokes. I'm sure Brian is willing to entertain some leeway but I imagine there's a limit.

YOU SIR ARE A GENIUS. Beta access is a wonderful, wonderful idea. I'll drop a $50 at the end of the month if you guys can get that going. :)

Of course there is a limit. Thats why its better to invest as much money as we can.
No hurt in asking and talking to the guy.

Beta access is a good idea too, i guess. But very much less permanent.
And there will be a codexian "lets play W2 beta" available anyway.

Beta access would be worthy fapping material.

I don't agree on credits. Our individual X dollars are not more worth and the X dollars of a non codexer, if they all goes to the kickstarter.

Reading "The Codex" on credits would be nice, reading a list of codexer not so.
Or hell, they may list all 20k backers and prove me wrong!

Second update on the kickstarter, they basically thanks for the so fast goal reaching.
It's worth a manly tear.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2/posts

Sorry we are late. We honestly thought we had another week to write this update…

YOU DID IT! We are funded and Wasteland 2 is a reality. A dream that began more than 20 years ago has actually come true. After years of attempting to get Wasteland 2 kicked off and countless pitch meetings to every major publisher out there, we had almost given up. Even six months ago we didn’t see any way that Wasteland 2 was ever going to happen. Then the world suddenly changed.

This is a paradigm shift that is way bigger than Wasteland 2. This is the beginning of a new era in gaming where the developer gets to work directly with the fans to build the type of product that the fans want. No focus groups, no pitches to the marketing team, no trying to get an executive committee to group-think their way to a project green-light. Now we just have a developer with a creative idea that resonates and a group of dedicated fans who are willing to lay down their money to buy it.

We knew we were taking a risk by asking for the most money anyone had ever asked for on Kickstarter, but we did it because every time we have interacted with the gaming community for the last decade they have asked about getting this sequel done. Even while we have been on press tours for other products, doing press interviews and presentations all over the planet, it always comes up. When are we getting Wasteland? Well, I finally have an answer for everyone. You all get a Wasteland Sequel in October of next year! Not only did we meet the highest funding goal ever on Kickstarter, we did it in 2 days! I know… we can’t believe it either.

So thank you all for making this happen, and please don’t stop spreading the word. If the entire community continues to help spread this through social media, there is no telling how much money we can raise. Every time you get someone else to participate, you are working to make the game bigger and better. We will be making some announcements very soon about what we will be adding to the development if we hit even higher levels.

Right now we want to be clear on a few things people are asking about:

Through the support of our amazing fan community we will be localizing the game into French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, and Polish. For anyone in those territories that want to help with this, please look for information on our Forums.

At the $1.5 Million level we will be adding a Linux version along with the Mac OS X version. We know that the Linux community is a very dedicated and internet-active group, so we hope their support will help us make that goal.

For those of you in Europe who want to support us but don't have a credit card, please check out our FAQ for some help.

Check out the Wasteland 2 Facebook page for Wasteland updates and links to a lot of the great press we have been getting in the last few days. There are some really neat articles to read. www.facebook.com/Ranger.HQ

Somehow, I have this feeling that this is going to end badly...

Yeah, vocal internet-fans are nearly as bad as marketing dudes making up focus groups. BUT, in one of the recent interviews he made clear, that they'd "listen" to the fans's input but mostly just choose what they like.

Imagine what could Bio and Bethesda accomplish with such gimmick.

Anyway, I've just spent my eating budget to aid this effort. I hope this won't turn Vapourware.
