Before this site starts reviewing Zelda, Bioshock, and other nextgen cutting edge rpgs I feel I should reiterate how desperately this sub forum is needed. People who actually like rpgs come here because we like rpgs. People who like console games with some lite rpg elements are the vast majority of this site's userbase (and retarded racists who I don't even think are even into any genre of video games but want to express their anger at being such failures in life by regurgitating old and tired shticks over and over and over).
We do not want to have them be part of our discussions. They have nothing worthwhile to say. And even those willing to try some good non-console games just do it to either love the game because it is hipster approved, or trash it because it isn't. We don't want or need people that can't think for themselves as much as we don't want or need console monkey savages.

Actually you should, at least when it comes to saying whether a videogame is an RPG or not.
A game is an RPG if the developer intends it to be. There's nothing unique or defining in this genre besides a (now more or less subconscious) attempt to approximate a variety of tabletop game.
So if the developers of icecream say its an rpg its an rpg? This makes no sense. You would agree a square is a thing, right? No matter who developers a square it is a square. If I intend to develop a square but it is a rectangle or a circle it is not a square.
No one has to play the game of stupid with anyone else. An rpg is a thing, just like a square. It has defining elements that make it an rpg or not. regardless of intent, desire, like, or the dumbing down of definitions or language. I was told it is okay to use the word inference when you should use imply now. Who decided? Who gave them the right? An inference can only be made from an implication. Period. This was established long before the definition dumdums decided to do their dumdumery. Racist now means pretty much anything and anyone. It used to have a real definition. The socialist worker's party of Germany were racists. It required believing your race is superior to at least another race, and another race was inferior. Now it means anything and is usually used to mean slightly bigoted or does not agree with my political agenda.
Does that make sense to you? You agree with definitions having no meaning? If so you are a pure anarchist and you and your ilk may just create stupid worm-hole contradiction vortex since definitions define the meaning of a word, so if definitions do not have meaning the universe will implode. Is that what you want?

The problem with the Codex isn't that people are open-minded enough to play (and enjoy) games like Dark Souls. The problem is that while you can find mega threads about games like No Man's Sky, Oblivion, Diablo 3, and other casual fag fluff, you find barely anything, barely anything at all on magnificent indie projects like Sword of Ahkranox. You know, games that would actually benefit from some attention AND are eminently worth playing and supporting. I don't know how it happened, but the Codex has become like a bad joke. This is the problem, the problem isn't that some people have good enough taste to enjoy Dark Souls.
