Interesting they now call D:OS2 AAA (from that trailer, press release, website, everywhere). Maybe Apple pushed it for marketing purpose, maybe actually they can call it when you think about how many people worked on this.

So, um, I started playing this game for the first time. I finished the first one a couple years back and enjoyed it. Not sure about this one so far.

Also, I feel like I'm playing Baldur's Gate III.

I'd just skip DOS2 and wait for BG3 to avoid feeling burn out on the latter.

So the whole 2nd grade level retard humor about cats and imps every fucking quest didn't deter your enjoyment?

Or the main plotline where they blatantly shoved a co-op 2 chosen ones story over some silly shit?

Imagine going into a Larian game expecting good writing and good jokes and not enjoying it because it had neither.

It's like hiring a shemale hooker and not enjoying it because she didn't have a vagina and her dick was bigger than yours.

Guys so I tried DOS2 on release and got bored quickly for some reason. I think the armor system may have been the reason.
Should I replay it now that its been patched?
Can you recommend some mods? I loved DOS1 but this game is strange.

I liked DOS1 but DOS2 I found unplayable, both on Day 1 and a few months back with some mods suggested here.

The system hasn't been patched. They just removed some bloat. But this is still not enough.

There's multiple mods changing the system/combat dynamics making it better, you can find them on nexus or Steam workshop.
I never made it past Fort Joy but last time i tried, i used epic encounters and that's the one mod you should avoid but there's some decent ones, i remember steam workshop having a page dedicated to compare them, it's easier to chose the best one for you.

I managed to get past Fort Joy and stopped in that camp with the crying face statue. I plan to play it again with a friend of mine and I'll see how far we'll get. The biggest hurdle is the armor system even with mods that reduce its sinfulness.

I found the balance mods comparison:

Now, i only played with Epic encounters (the first one) and it was a shitshow.
In my opinion, Unleashed seems like the way to go.

I'm actually starting to enjoy it. The armor system is meh, but not too bad.

The skill system is quite dumbed down though.

Fort Joy actually got pretty great once you start exploring the palace and the other side of the island. But I see quite a big motivation slump once you reach the mainland.

Before that you had a clear motivation: get off the prison island. After that it is just "lol, you need to get bigger and better because your god needs you or something".

Also, did anyone else get a Level 15 sword and staff while on the High Seas? I was Level 7 and have no idea how these got into my inventory.

The Blackpits fight on the oil rig was awesome. You and a prisoner fight against Magister forces and waves of Voidwoken - and the latter two also fight each other.

DOS2 had a bit of a slump for me for much of Driftwood but now at Level 12 it is starting to get more interesting again. Equipped all my chars with fast relocation spells and two have teleport spells which do wonders in many fights. Just teleport an enemy far away while you are dealing with another.

Glad you're enjoying it. DOS2 really shines when you get to mess around with its systems, create nearly infinite turns, can't-get-hit builds, rangers that absolutely oneshot large bosses if they have a bit of prep, etc.

If you end up liking it enough for a replay, I really recommend downloading some of the mods that put in new classes. Odinblade's are excellent.

If you mean making a good itemization out of this pile of shit, probably none if you mean slightly improving it, some mods try to do it, you can find the descriptions of all these mods on the steam workshop or nexus mods for further details, i'm certainly not going to play them all, maybe unleash soon-ish, like november/december but that's as far as i'm willing to go and i'll probably not complete the game.

I kind of lost interest again on the Nameless Isle. How much of the game is still left after that in percent? I know there is the whole Arx map still to go.

    30 ish

Arx is a lot better though, Namess Isle is easily the worst part of the game.
