Latest patch seems try to buff Kailasa with making their Sacred cheaper and.... making Markatas cheaper? Who the hell uses Markatas? Oh and dunno when but they now start with Guhyakas General

I guess Illwinter push forward to go with awake pretender with these kind of buff

Expanding with Kailasa was always doable but hard. The issue was playing a nation with a massive target painted on its back for everyone to see.

Its a vicious cycle, you play a weak nation get attacked as an easy target and then lose reinforcing the "weak Kailasa" point.

Don't want to necro Dom4 thread so I will post a question here. Is there a reason why the Bane got killed?
d41.jpg

He was full 23 health and then was hit in the head for 14 and killed :o

d42.jpg

In the manual it's written that you can get affliction to lose your head, but that need a slashing weapon and the Chieftain has piercing one
d43.jpg

I'm so confused (and not only for the insane attack and damage rolls lol)

That is the only thing I can think of. The problem is that the manual says this

d44.jpg

450 pages and there is not a single table of afflictions, it's in Dom5 manual, but it doesn't have decapitation as an affliction
d51.jpg
and the Hit location paragraph is just the same- Undead can't die of decapitation. Maybe it's just poorly written or changed later and they never bothered to update the manual.

Dom6 manual mentions decapitation as a special case of limb cutoff for slashing weapons (p.63) : if the head is hit for more than 50% of hp, away with it.
Maybe Dom4 had the same system for piercing.

Golems can survive losing the head but undead? Fairly sure I havent seen any going around without one.

In Dom4 any attack could've decapitated target, irrespectible of damage type. Slashing weapons do 25% more damage after protection is deducted. They had no bonus to dismemberment.
Banes are intelligent undead, headshot is instakill.

Make sense. The manual is so bad though, there are 60 pages of lore background for the nations and zero explanation of Intelligent units. It's kind of impressive how often game mechanics are working intuitively or just mentioned with one sentence in a description and there is actual mechanic that is never documented anywhere.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
That's Dominions, babe

Makes me wonder if the unexpected loss of a Chayot to a vamp count in a recent Codex game could've also been caused by a decapitation. Would be weird if it worked on multiform creatures, but again, Dominions

I only play single player so no online bullshit to be afraid off.

Don't really support pirating this game but there's cs rin ru instructions for it if you are gonna mod it

Thanks bro, I would never have found this bypass by myself, it's working great.

Off I go to modding !

In a move that no one would have expected, we're getting Dominions 1 and Dominions 2 on Steam.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3520220/Dominions__Priests_Prophets__Pretenders

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3533600/Dominions_2__The_Ascension_Wars

I've played Dom1 in SP thanks to some kind Codexer, and its interface is incredibly clunky. I've started playing during the Dom3 era (even if I never bothered to re-buy the game on Steam) but I'm mildly curious if there's any reason to play 2 altogether. I mean, if they throw it for like 3 eurobucks I could get it for curiosity sake.

Maybe we'll get a functional MP system? Who knows.

Ok, yeah, wasn't on my bingo

I'd buy these for a few bucks off of sheer curiosity - I'm one of the 3babbies. I heard that older versions had some interesting stuff going on, like scales effectively modifying your nation (so Pangea with Death scales becomes Asphodel), but this might just be old ladies' tales.

I remember Dom2 getting a very good rap at the time. May be worth checking out if only to see how hilariously unbalanced it must be.

Think it was like a subnation choice not scales related. But yes, you could also do undead Ermor.

I am not getting 1 or 2 tho, probably only historical value.

You don't have to pay for it.
IIRC it had,
- kinda modern GUI, not that Dom 1 mostrosity,
- 12-20 nations in a single age (mostly euros, though I think that Mictlan and Tien'Chi appeared for the first time),
- all the usual spells for common strats (Marignon fireball spam and D2D, Greek magic duels, Caelum bolts, etc.), very few crosspaths and nonlethal utility and nondirect buffs (no sleep, enlargement, etc.),
- predetermined H spells, though blesses themselves were adjustable since Dom1,
- I don't remember the crafting. Frost brand was probably already there, but I think that unlimited gemgens appeared in Dom3,
- late game SC domination (devils, tarts, the usual).

All in all, probably the first Dom game that could be sold to modern audiences, but I remember that Dom3 was a qualitative breakthrough. I switched to it and never went back.

IIRC the changes went approximately like that:
Dom 3 - added ages (because the number of nations expanded from ~12 to 60), tax sliders, gemgens, variable forts, many events and a variety of national spells (previously there were only a few, like for Ermor). It was all about lategame blood domination and gem engines. Mapgen appeared.
Dom 4 - added seasons, thrones, STR, useless fort upgrades, artifacts. Gemgens were removed (made unique or turned into temp gems). It was all about SC-thugs again, though they were toned down somewhat and strong communions became more dominant. Event modding and event chains appeared. I think adjustable taxes were removed and stratmap movement system was redone.
Dom 5 - recruit points, bless redesign (bless menu added). I think it was the first dom with out-of-castle national recruits (or was it 4?). Toned-down scales (previously they were often maxed). It was the first Dom with the focus on armies and mass buffs. Seasonal effects on map view were added and it killed a lot of good old community maps, though.
Dom 6 - glamour magic, assassin locations, unique spells, map planes. Meme nations had appeared for the first time.

Dom1 is indeed borderline unplayable. Immensely early 90ies. I have some resistance to that thanks to our local strategy retrogaming expert, but it was still messy.

I do remember very well how *fun* Dom3 lategame was. Completely and utterly broken, I remember most of the communities almost enforced modded play at least for more lategame variety and stop the gemgens.

If I remember right 4 had already out of castle national recruits.

When's the next game and are you still rage quitting every game Dayyālu

The next game will be hosted soonish, depending on circumstances. Probably a LA one.

Also yes, I still ragequit games but only when I'm comprehensively defeated this time. The Dom6 era has given me so many hellgames to swallow in misery.

2 is pretty much indistinguishable from 3, but instead of "ages" shared by everyone, it has "themes" selected individually for each nation. So, after selecting e.g. Ermor, you get to pick between EA Ermor, MA Ermor, Sceleria and Lemuria (as they are known now).

I was absolutely entranced with DomPPP when it first came out, but yeah, it didn't age well.
