Dragon Age: Inquisition Pre-Release Thread

Discussion in 'BioWare' started by Morgoth, Aug 20, 2012.

  1. And this is without even considering you spend virtually the entire game just killing humans in different clothes, like the city has all these humans to spare!

    Here's some telling facts:

Dragon Age 2 has a grand total of 16 non-humanoid creatures in it's Monster Manual, and even some of those are variants on a theme (Pride Demon, Desire Demon etc)
Dragon Age Origins has double this, with 32 non-humanoid creatures in it's Monster Manual
Balder's gate has 10 distinct varieties just between Genie and Glabrezu in it's Monster Manual's A-Z...

I think that a simple dumbfuck tag won't do the job, so I present a custom one.

It's kinda small and hard to see tali's head.. Nailed the color palette though.

It's nice and all... but I don't really give a shit about Tali or romance in general so it's kind of misleading... But sure whatever. YOLO!

OK, just because of your invaluable contributions to all Bioware threads here - here's variant without Tali.

Looks just as shitty as DA2. Dunno why I thought it would be more than DA:O, I guess because DA2 got shit feedback from the community?

Anyway, the last chance of me playing and enjoying this vaporised.

EDIT: Did they change anything from DA2? :retarded:

How can you make such a succesful game followed by such a shitty one, and then keep the mechanics from the shitty sequal in no. 3?

Looks more tactically diverse and less tedious to play than Pillars of Eternity.

You just think like that because you didn't play DA2 7 times.

The flashing lights look more intense, to make sure epileptic people will be triggered (trigger warning). Varric's backflips look more fluid and athletic, just as you would expect from a chubby short legged dwarf.

When the dwarf - Varric - started doing back flips like a ninja and jumping 3 meters into the air, I just gave up.

I love the fact the mini-map is completely useless as an actual map because it just shows different colored dots for NPCs and enemies. Also, PC gameplay and he's using a gamepad? :hahano:

Actually, there were a couple of interviews where they said the lesson they took from DA2's negative reception was that people prefer epic stories over small-scale ones.

    Consolefags gonna consolefag.

About the map, I noticed that too. It's like the "radar" from the movie Aliens, more like a "lifeform" detector than anything.

And as far as I remember, the people over at BSN did like DA2's combat. Their only non-romance related complaint was the shameless copy 'n' paste of dungeon maps.

Considering that just about the only thing that was praised about DA2 was that its story was pretty cool and innovative in some places (if not its characters), I'd say that's pants-on-head-retarded.

The blood clouds from DA2 have been replaced with smoke clouds and other spell effects? For shame!

An overwhelming majority of BW interviews have had revisionist remarks about DA2, where they deny all responsibility, claim the game did really well and was actually well received, etc.

They pretty much refuse to acknowledge they fucked up. And in the few interviews where they don't take such insultingly untrue stances on the game's quality, they never delve into the true issues with DA2. They make claims that the story wasn't "epic" enough and that the content wasn't "fast paced" enough.

The only thing DA2 did right was try a less epic adventure story (a personal story as outlined in DA2 could work very well, if it were executed correctly).

A recent interview I definitely am trying hard to forget had BioWare making extremely revisionist remarks about DA2, going so far as to say it's a great game. Jesus chris, let DA2 just die already. It is so terrible it deserves to be forgotten, it's so terrible I'm just sick of hearing about it; being forced to remember playing it. BioWare will be done after DA3, we all know this, so dredging up their darkest moment certainly won't make a difference.
