So where the fuck is our 3ds version?

who the hell got a 3ds?

About 72 million people worldwide? And there is already a 3ds version out in japan, so its not like they would have to put actual work into it.
The 3DS version also supposedly is the best version of the game as it also includes a classic 2d graphics mode which alters the gameplay quite a bit. So you basically get 2 games in 1.

there will be 3 games basically:

- PS4 version
- 3DS polygonal version (graphically just google footage of DQ7 and DQ8 3DS versions thats how it will look)
- 3DS 8-bit sprite version

***there are rumors of the 8-bit sprite version getting released stand-alone on mobile.

Content-wise it is all the same game the only difference will be the graphics though the 8-bit version supposedly will feature random encounters and the polygonal versions (ps4 and 3ds) feature on-screen enemies.

Thats kind of a big difference.

DRAGON QUEST XI ARRIVES IN THE WEST SEPTEMBER 4
The Epic Beginning to a New Adventure for PlayStation®4 and STEAM®
LOS ANGELES (March 28, 2018) – One of the most revered role-playing game franchises of all time returns to the West with DRAGON QUEST® XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age™ coming to the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and STEAM® on September 4.

DRAGON QUEST XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age tells a captivating tale of a hunted hero and is the long-awaited role-playing game from series creator Yuji Horii, character designer Akira Toriyama, and series composer Koichi Sugiyama. As the eleventh mainline entry in the critically acclaimed series, DRAGON QUEST XI is a completely standalone experience that features entirely new characters, a beautifully detailed world, finely tuned turn-based combat, and an immersive story that will appeal to longtime fans and franchise newcomers alike. After its release in Japan, DRAGON QUEST XI won multiple gaming awards and received critical praise, including PlayStation’s Platinum Prize and a perfect 40/40 score from Famitsu (Japanese publication).

In addition to delivering over 100 hours of content, the Western release of DRAGON QUEST XI will also feature several upgrades and enhancements that were not included in the Japanese release, including:
  • English Voiceover
  • Draconian Quest, a hard mode that offers additional challenges for more experienced players.
  • Overhauled Menus & UI, with graphical enhancements and more intuitive navigation.
  • Camera Mode, allowing players to take in views of the beautiful landscape, character renders and ferocious monsters in detail.
  • A New Dash Function and many other system enhancements such as improved character and camera movement
Beginning today, adventurers who pre-order from the PlayStation®Store can treat themselves to the exclusive “The Legend Reborn” Theme as an instant reward, along with in-game DLC items when the game launches – check out the following link for more details.

the 3ds version is still worth playing though because it has exclusive content where you can go and visit the timelines and worlds of past Dragon Quest games and do a quest in them and in each DQ past-world that you visit the game will change its graphics to that of the original version release of said DQ game.

In the PS4 version (and I assume Steam version) this content is not present instead they made a theme-park type mini-game with shooting galleries and other crap.

EDIT: OOOF HARD MODE!

omg omg omg

Strangely enough no mention of Switch. Also, was the 3Ds localization dropped?

Apparently 3DS version is not coming West: http://www.ign.com/articles/2018/03...unced-switch-coming-much-later-no-3ds-version

However, it's a slightly different story on Nintendo platforms. The 3DS version of the game - which was a complete remake of the Japanese PS4 version, played in both pixel art and 3D versions across the console's two screens - will not be localised at any point.

In a statement, Square Enix told IGN: "Our aim with Dragon Quest XI and the Dragon Quest brand is to grow the audience in the West. From a business point of view, it made strategic sense to release the 3DS version in Japan in 2017. For the West in 2018, it made the most sense to focus on the PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam) platforms."

As for the Switch version, things are slightly less clear. "We are also developing the Switch version for Europe and North America," reads Square Enix's statement, "but development is expected to take a long time from a technological standpoint as well, so we still have a long way to go until its release".

At a Dragon Quest event, a Square Enix PR representative told IGN that the Switch version would definitely not be released in 2018, and could end up being released "much later".

I secretly hoped they release both versions on PC. (Yeah, no such coolness in SquEni's book. But I get 3DS emulators are not far from playable?)

To be fair that's how you do it. Keep in mind game will be what, over a year old when they release it for western audience? Adding new content is great incentive.

Wait, no 3DS version? Fuck, was really looking forward to it. The PS4 version better have the option to skip animations then.
