The only fun to be had in this game is dungeoneering as a party of newbies with weird people. The rest is hamster wheel hell where they nickel and dime you along the way.

After my unfortunate venture into FFXIV I can at least look at every other MMORPG and go, "At least it's not FFXIV." Sometimes you need to dive into shit so you know shit, Randy.

I did quite a few reincarnations before I got bored, the game has a lot of content. If you're looking at the game as trying to get to some imaginary 'end-game' point or something, then the game isn't for you.
Nearly all of the content can be done solo, as most of the content has a difficulty slider with something like 13 difficulties in total.

No reason to play solo though, it has seamless multiplayer where people can jump into your instance and the difficulty scales to party size.

So looks like they will revamp EDs in future. Can't decide if it's worth to do epic reincranations now.

Generally speaking, non-epic reincarnation feats are more powerful. And the game is better at lower levels. Id say save the epic ones for strong characters you REALLY liked and want to see more of.

Apparently this Epic Destiny revamp is going to be a huge change. They are going to make it more like the enhancement trees in heroics, so it's not going to be a huge shock to go from heroics to epics. Going to be a lot more build options apparently.

People are already freaking out about it, as you can see in the like/dislike ratio of the video. Also the forums too. It's still in the early stages and it won't be final until later in the year.

It's a fucking trainwreck in the making. They want to revamp more or less all of epic. Considering that SSG is possibly the most incompetent bunch of devs in the industry this is going to be something else. Also, this isn't early stages, once something is on Lama for preview it's going live like that, minor changes here and there sure, but nothing major. This has been their MO for years.

IS truth that the devs will take out the Magister epic destiny?

In more immediate news, we're going to be retiring the Magister Epic Destiny and replacing it with Magus of the Eclipse, a brand new ED that focuses on Negative, Cold, and Necromancy spells, as well as weaving potent anti-magical defenses. Eventually The Magus of the Eclipse tree preview post will have a lot more information on why this tree specifically was replaced entirely instead of being refactored but that isn't ready for this early preview. For now, suffice it to say that when we went into building out a new cohesive epic ecosystem Magister in it's current broad form did not fit the framework.

The current leveling experience on epic level is trash. You get a lot of powerful stuff, like the ability to create liches from the tin air at lv 21/22 with Magister tree and then, stay without nothing cool till lv 30 and can level up other tree by not using the cool stuff which you unlocked.

Thanks. There is any benefit on having leveled all destines?
Other question. How Sentient Weapon works

------

Because so far my experience as a Pale Master, leveling is very satisfying.

  • Lv 1 - You fell worthless
  • Lv 3 - Necrotic bolt - A amazing and cheap offensive SLA. You can maximize and empower with no cost
  • Lv 7 - You start to get cool stuff like negative energy burst and death aura to have a bit of AoE damage and self heal at the same time
  • Lv 11 - You start to get cool offensive stuff like necrotic ray which dishes a lot of damage and inflict a negative level if the enemy fail his fort save
  • Lv 12 - Necrotic Blast. A AoE version of Necrotic Bolt.
  • Lv 13 - Finger of death. Is where you can call yourself a adept of the dark arts
  • Lv 17 - Is when you get powerful spells like wail of the banshee, rend the soul and meteor swarm for enemies immune to negative energy.
  • Lv 20 - Greater death aura.
  • Lv 21~23 - With the magister destiny, you can easily reach ludicrous high DC and with mere 6 "mana", cast a necrotic blast as a 28th level caster with 15% chance of casting disjunction on enemies and 15% of lowering his fort save by 5 points. Also can summon Liches, create nasty force storms dealing the same damage of disintegrate each 2 seconds and other things like that.
I din't reached lv 24 with any char yet.

out of hundreds of quests, this is the only quest I think I actually hated so far
https://ddowiki.com/page/The_Coalescence_Chamber
I hated tomb of wizard king in the desert. Because i still have no idea what to do there. Was just running samey rooms(lots of samey rooms) with stairs and collapsing floors and then there is final boss and everything ended.
Actually now i really like it. Good exp, lots of undeads to deus vult them, tokens. And main reason - i learned the map.
Tomb, devil assault and jungle are my daily quests for tokens now.

The devs are removing Magister and putting a tree focused on necromancy cuz lets be honest. 99% of Wizard players on DDO play as Pale Master or Eldritch Knight. Often mixing boths. I saw a guy playing as a undead eldritch knight and he was much powerful. He was a tank with self heal and self buff capabilities. The idea of Magister was to be a tree used for any magic school specialist. But is barely used for non pale masters.

Because lets be real, enchantment is worthless vs the strongest bosses which are immune. Transmutation too. Disintegrate is amazing for mid level play but is not worth on epic levels. Mainly when you get shirt like Arcane tempest. Anyway, here is a video showing how pale masters are in mid level - DDO

wizards only play as PM because the other trees suck
arcane wizard is just a really gimp sorc

PM at epic levels has insane survivability with double death aura, damage is just OK. iirc the only enemies I had trouble with were constructs because they're immune to nearly all of your attacks. Which was a PITA, because Sharn had quite a lot of them.

also, PM sucks in reaper content because of the self-heal penalty which IMO is dumb and heavily gimps any build that relies on self-heals, especially PM and warforged builds. Yeah, I get the point is to encourage grouping, but it takes away an edge builds that use self-heals have but does nothing to builds that don't rely on self-heals for staying alive but instead have other forms of damage mitigation.

But on epic level, you can cast maximized/empowered/intensified meteor swarm on constructs. Or let your skeleton kill him. He takes a bit of time, but skeleton + barbarian hireling can kill mobs relative quickly,

What is the problem of epic level on DDO is the bloat. I did ToEE(epic) and the guardian to the temple of air had almost 90k hp on normal. I am very happy that the devs of DDO are attempting to reduce the number creepiness on epic. BTW, I can reliable hit 7.6k damage with my necrotic ray if crits and I can crit a lot. My lv is mere 24.

Oh cool. I really like the sound effects they did for the necromancer spells. Sounds badass. Also, still having problems getting the resolution higher?

Yep. Still can't raise resolution. Honestly, DDO is my favorite mmo, I don't like the number creepiness and cooldowns but nothing is perfect. I also an thinking on purchasing Ravenloft content. Will my lv cap raise from 25 to 30 if I do that?

You should be able to reach max level if you have Menace of the Underdark content, since that gives access to epic levels. Do you have epic destinies? I know the bundles of Menace of the Underdark and Shadowfell expansion content for cheap didn't include epic destinies in them. Those were separate that you had to purchase from the DDO store I believe.

I have epic destinies. Already capped magister.

Other question. Can I do a heroic reincarnation at lv 25?
