Summoning cheesy spirits and spamming dumb arts? Not fun.

Yeah, but I doubt a SL1 run could be called fun even for the most challenge seeking person coming to the haligtree area with the same mooks you fought during the whole game now having 10x the HP. It's.. bearable with the truly powerful builds, I would catch cancer with a normal build, doing the game until reaching that point as a SL1 is something I would call autistic.

The early game isn't without issues, but if Toro is going to press on, what awaits is cock and balls torture.

Wolf summons are bad against armored enemies. Malenia Knights are almost certain death. My Zweihander is +12.

I don't think I will make any more progress because everything has started to out-damage me. We will see.

So maybe somebody can answer this because I can't find any answer on any site that I've seen.

Why do you sometimes get more runes when summoned? MOST of the time you get exactly the same amount when summoned for the same boss.

But a small amount of the time, suddenly I get 2x or I think 3x of the normal amount (65k from Rykard instead of 32.5k, for instance).

I haven't been able to figure out WHY I got more runes seemingly at random.
Likely NG+1/+2.

I respect his determination, but Miyazaki has stabbed us in the back with the nusouls combat design and the game doesn´t deserve to be mastered. All the cool exploration and masterful art destroyed by stupid combat and enemies.

It's not my fault that the nusouls combat sucks.

The summons are needed especially in that particular fight because you need to kill Misbegotten Warrior as fast as possible. I didn't have Mimic Tear and all my summons were +5. They are irrelevant against Crucible Knight.

This is a gate boss fight where Misbegotten has 2k hp and Crucible Knight has 4k! and indecent damage absorptions/resistances. Considering that I was doing ~100 dmg per hit to Crucible it means that I still needed to hit him 20+ for his remaining 50% hp. Without getting hit. That I could not do because he never stops attacking/running/flying.

I did try to spam Hoarfrost Stump but I could not make it because I think the game is cheating: there are moments in the boss fight when you can see that he has perfect tracking and attack delays to hit you at least once. At lvl 1 one hit is actual death. I only used that ash of war because it allowed me to change the Zweihander affinity to Cold. Other than this fight I did not spam the weapon art.

Anyway, I wish more people would experience this bullshit fight at low level because your assertions are true. The nusouls combat design is retarded. I think the combat mechanics in this game are worse than even Dark Souls 3.

Rennala’s runback is telling a story
I was so frustrated with running back to Rennala every time that I only thought of it long after she was defeated; there are no stakes of marika in Raya Lucaria! Makes sense cause why would you keep statues of the woman your husband left you for. Neat bit of environmental storytelling that I thought I’d share, sorry if it’s old news. Cheers

bonus:
I AM MELANIA, BLADE OF SLOVENIA, AND I HAVE NEVER KNOWN POVERTY!

You don't have to fight the misbegotten and crucible knigght necessarily, if all you want is Radahn. I progressed Ranni's quest first and when I first entered Redmane, it was completely deserted because the Festival was triggered by then.

As for bad stuttering, I followed this guide early on and had very good performance for the remainder of my playthrough, even when running a mobile game on an emulator and a Chaturbate stream on the 2nd monitor: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2772105284

Consider also disabling the EAC: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2763986548

Consider also not downloading so much of the gay porn, while playing.

110 hours now, I'm really on the fence about this game.

To be honest with you, it just makes me nostalgic for DS1 -- I miss the darkness, I miss the atmosphere, I miss the "oh shieeeeeet" I miss the feeling of elation when you'd finally get that next bonfire. ER on the other hand is reminiscent of DS2 and not in a good way - lots of areas, lots of bosses most of them forgettable. ER's world is way more finely realized than DSs... but somehow this hurts it. It's even more surreal, but has less of an otherworldly dream like quality.

I'm at least somewhat aware that my ambivalence about this game is a product of jadedness -- this is my friend's first souls dive since DS1 and he loves it. Me on the other hand, I played DS1, DS2 and DS3 almost back to back, definitely an element of having seen the magic show before and knowing how the tricks work.

Sekiro was the last time I felt like Miyazaki was truly inspired, and I don't think I'll rate this higher than Sekiro when I'm done, especially considering how badly they fucked up the MP in this, which is a cardinal sin for what is effectively DS4. Whatever, it's still better than literally anything else out there currently and for the forseeable future.

On a different note, I genuinely hope this inspires a whole slew of "soulslikes" in the industry. Yes most of them will be trash and copying all of the wrong things, but if there is at least one fresh take that gets it, it will be worthwhile. That's what I keep thinking about: a souls game made by souls fans, by programmers who don't have coin slot eyes and don't recycle spaghetti code.

Likely NG+1/+2.

Wait, if I'm still in regular, I can get summoned to NG1 or NG2 bosses?

Huh, is THAT why they sometimes do a bit more damage and have more HP? I thought it was just a summoned soul level scaling thing going on.

I remember one boss had a DIFFERENT wepon in a summon.

It had to be NG+.

BTW, this bleed shit is still obscenely powered.

I was fighting the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella and the bleed proc took one third of his health. I mean, fuck me. Also anything that is flesh based gets shredded in a nanosecond by powerstancing my two bleed curved swords.

And this is AFTER the nerf lmao.

I kinda like it though. I have a shield/morning star on slot 1 and the two swords on slot 2 of each other and i can switch to either depending on the situation.

Bleed was never nerfed? It was buffed after they fixed arcane scaling

One thing that surprised me going back to DS3 is how passive the bosses seemed, and how they had massive windows for you to attack them. Even though they're all annoying spammers in my memory they're actually extremely slow and simple next to Elden Ring bosses.

I've found this with every game in the series. It doesn't matter how much I like any particular game in the series, I always find it hard to go backwards because everything seems slow as hell. Bloodborne is the only exception to this.

I was just thinking "ER is a good prep for when I finally play Bloodborne" but I guess the likes of Ludwig or Maria or Kos aren't gonna be any easier anyway.

he needed 3 parries before she would actually get staggered. This is also a new level of bullshit. In the previous games, I don't recall one single enemy doing this - they were either parriable or not, not this kinda, sorta, maybe, sometimes circus.
I tried "git gud"'ing early on against Margit by parrying, but he needs 2 consecutive parries to get staggered, so I thought "huh, this doesn't do anything to him" and assumed that bosses just don't ever enter that prone state after a parry and dismissed the strat for the entirety of my playthrough. IMO that kind of mixed feedback (1 parry instantly breaks the stance of everybody else, but you need multiple for bosses) is only viable, if you have some sort of meter to indicate your progress towards the stance break. I think there was a game that did that. It was called Sikoro or Sakira or something, but I didn't play it and neither did FroSo by the looks of it.

I'm done with the game. I cannot progress without more cheese/parry and the magic is gone.

PvP is still filled with twinks spamming broken weapon arts. Memezaki's greatest work.

I've done most quests and I think Millicent has the best quest line.

Lmao, the big jar challenge, are they fucking serious?

This is the most meme thing From has ever done.

You have to get past those fucking archers only to get one shot by some meme weapon art. I'm SL33 and the invaders are supposed to be scaled to your level according to google but it feels like they are SL150 or some shit judging by the health and gear they have.

I was intrigued by Millicent and her quest at first, but the conclusion left a bitter after taste in my mouth. You do all this shit only for her to die and for what? Some quest item, that is only relevant if you opt into one of the bad endings and want to change your mind later on.

I'd gladly do it the other way round: yeet Melina into the fire to spare Millicent.

Her quest is kinda fucked up story wise, but it's worth it for one of the best talisman of the game, the quest item isn't the only thing you get. The Rotten Winged Sword Insignia is a very, very significant damage buff for any power stanced fast weapon types (dagger, longswords, katanas, rapiers, twinblades) or weapon arts that deal quick multiple hits in succession. Combined with Lord of Blood's Exultation and Shard of Alexander this turns the game into pure cheese.

Betray Millicent in NG+ and enjoy a fourth talisman that stacks with the one you get from helping her too.

A pictorial representation of my journey with Elden Ring, my greatest achievement, and my personal hell. (Pictures look like shit, blame HDR and my technical ineptness.)

King Mediocrites leaves home in order to repel the Persian Empire find the Elden Ring.

6EyDvxJ.png

Weeks on the road turned into months... years!? And life in the Lands Between was not easy, and many long nights subsisting on ramen and Doritos took their toll on our hero!

3iauRvw.png

At the end of his journey, King Mediocrites returned home to find it in ruins! His wife had long since left with a coworker, having grown tired of the 14 year old boy video game addict LARP. In despair, this broken man collapsed next to the body of his favourite dog.

N6zxh8e.jpg

The only thing that kept him going was a memory of better times, when as a young man he was visited by many random ladies.

So you're telling me it's completely useless for a large portion of builds? I'm sure those 20% will really help you, if you're already capable of landing a complete combo on a boss. If that talisman wasn't just a plain boring damage increase, but instead increased the attack speed of power stanced weapons - allowing you to get your full combo out quicker - then I would agree with you. Then that would truly make it something special and not found elsewhere. But you already listed a couple of talismans that do basically the same. It's just another damage increase talisman in a sea of other damage increase talismans.
