Looks interesting. I have played my fair share of WoW, and am not really interested at this point. But I'll likely play this just for the "experimental" aspect - I'm curious to see how much the bots act like real players, and how authentic the simulation feels compared to a real MMO.

I think this is a great idea, and worth exploring.

The biggest problem with MMORPGs isn't the trolls, it's the metagaming. Something like this could provide the fresh feeling of virgin EverQuest or WoW without the tryhard metagamers ganking the space up with their 'knowledge'.

Nobody wants to play with this guy:

I don't know if it's the MMO mechanics that make the social interaction so poisonous, but I generally find interacting with players in WoW to be cancer. Guild Wars is definitely a lot less toxic, but people tend to either blob into farming groups to run circuits or run around doing their own thing. At least it's so sandboxy that people tend to be a lot more laid back, even when doing their daily chores. You can't generally chill and interact when strangers when they are literally seething about drop rates, loot allocation, people standing in fire, or having to go to get some progress bar filled before weekly reset in the morning.
Indeed. It all comes down to how well the game itself fosters cooperation. Left 4 Dead and Deep Rock Galactic are great examples of games that make playing together with total strangers feel natural. But in these games cooperation is all there is to it, you don't really farm stuff (expect maybe Deep Dives in Deep Rock Galactic).

Tried the demo some time ago, it was good fun figuring out on my own how to progress, finding secrets and keywords for NPCs.
Played as Arcanist who has access to sleep and charm spells, proved to be very important in the first dungeon. Mobs at the deeper levels are pretty tough and i had a few close calls due to our Druid running out of mana but my party of 'simulated players' proved to be really good at their jobs and thus we managed to avoid complete TPK.
Never played Everquest but my impression of it was that the combat is slow and methodical. In Erenshor the combat felt almost fast paced.
Synty asset pack is not going to scare me but i now low key wish to play another single player MMO in a similar vein. Or have one of the commercially avaliable ones converted into a similar format.

I'm curious to see how much the bots act like real players, and how authentic the simulation feels compared to a real MMO
After you type LFG, wait for someone to arrive and invite them to your party they become your willing slaves. 'Players' will do anything you ask of them, will never go AFK for any reason and as someone already mentioned are way more competent at group combat then your average FF14 player.
So, the answer to both questions is not really. They do offer trades and occasionally shitpost in chat tho.

There was a halloween update for Steam Next Fest by the way.

Good time to try the demo if someone didn't already.

Why play this when I could just play WotLK with Azeroth Core Player Bots?

It has it's own handcrafted world if you can look past the Synty graphics.
Less hussle to setup probably.
While not perfect it does try to emulate the experience of playing MMO with SimPlayers running around doing stuff.

It's impressive you got all this working. I'll get it once it's done. I have always wanted more cross pollination of single player RPGs and MMORPGs. There was another guy on here who made a good game I got. It was inspired by him playing WoW and wanting similar combat in a single player game. Turned into a good blobber. (The Fall of the Dungeon Guardians)

Vaporware.

As the guy making the game for the past 4 years, if it's vaporware I'm going to be flabbergasted.
It's about time to offer a bribe to Infinitron , I told him that the game would be released soon and that it would be worthy of attention and news posts. He replied with nothing but a redirection to his thread. That likely means he's expecting game keys and monetary compensation (in darkunderlord's back without giving a cut to him or anyone's else that goes without saying), I'm afraid...It's also a good idea to send one to GAME GOD FLUENT on Steam for a unique review twist, too. Fluent's reviews are definitely what the Codex deserves.

You must understand wonder why Fluent left the codex....

The Codex needed its true gaming hero.....

He's the gamer and vid-touber the codex deserves but not the one it gets right now....

{just picture this speech with staff talking to Fluent before he left.... to GAME!}

He seemed pretty mellow usually. I think he liked Elin. When I helped fund the KS I had a spare set of keys and Fluent was on my STEAM friend list (well and Tom from myspace). It was on his wish list. So I gifted him the codes & dlc. I dunno if he did a video on it.

I've dabbled with the WoW Single Player Project and I enjoyed it I guess. But that was mainly down to WoW being a glorified single player game to begin with. Removing the already tenuous multiplayer element in WoW doesn't actually change the game a great deal so long as you use the bots that come with SPP. But real MMORPGs thrive based on their social elements and the interactions with other real players that create a dynamic and reactive world that you can't find in a single player game. To the point that that reactivity can make up for mediocre gameplay, which frankily most MMORPGs have. Take that out and you're often left with a mediocre and anemic game.

Will it simulate the experience of logging into the one not full server after school and seeing around 50~ players engaging in furry ERP in the town square?

You know, I think any MMO probably needs some larpy proactive people to begin with. Most MMOs I played were dead or near zombie and if they were alive it was bots. No one wanted to party or anything. It was like everyone have the plague and stayed away from each other if there were anyone. You need a group of pals to plunder a MMO and stir action into it IMHO. How many are just DEAD?

Not bad at all, it really captures the old-school MMO vibe without the hassle of group-finding, like those dead games full of bots and alt accounts.
