I made this post 10 minutes ago, and it's been quickly deleted:

Hey Summer,

I know it's the wrong forum, but it's the best way to get your attention. And no, I don't want to handle it via PM, let it be in the open. Feel free to move the thread though.

Summer said:
One only need look throught the topics and select one to find complaints about the game on this forum. So obviously, dissatisfaction with the game is allowed to be posted here.

That said, I don't know whether to close this thread because it has direction to a site we do not allow to be linked here due to swearing, porn ads, and smut or to close it because it seems to be advertising a fansite or to close it because it speaks of a banned member which is not allowed to post about. Either way, (take your pick) I am closing it. That site is filled with smut and not appropriate to lead young folks to. smile.gif (btw and this is a personal note, it is also a pop up nightmare, thank goodness when I have gone there my pop up blocker worked for me.)
Talking about banned accounts is against the rules.
Advertising is against the rules.
Linking (or direction) to smut is against the rules.

Got it?
Porn ads? Filled with smut? Advertising a fansite? What are you smoking, sweetness?

We don't filter language, that's true, but the rest is a figment of your overly vivid imagination. We are a discussion site, and as such we neither advertise, nor tolerate porn. In fact, we have a strick policy on not safe for work pictures. Calling RPG Codex a fansite is ridiculous, to say the least. So, I believe that an explanation is in order, otherwise I shall assume that our only sin is openly criticising Oblivion.

The floor is yours.

Err, with what? Just sharing my futile attempt to communicate and the latest excuse for link banning / thread closing.

She PM'ed me:

...
So go tell someone else that will believe you that there is no porn. Even a third of the ads are to porn sites. I have gotten spyware from simply clicking the enter button there.
So, what the heck are you smoking dear?
If I had found that, I would have slapped you with a warning. I can only hope that whoever did find it does so.

It's mostly for people to see what posting pictures for shit and giggles does to the site's reputation. No, I don't care what Summer and the likes think of the Codex, but I do care that they are using it as an excuse to remove links and close threads.

The way the ad thing works I think is that it takes stuff from your stored cookies and location and gives you ads based on your internet useage habit. When I've been to gamespot or ign recently I get those hey win a psp! ads. Usually I keep my history and temp files clean so I'm only getting ads for credit cards, cell phones, and passports. Also, a system tray weather program and occasionally it tells me to shoot a duck.

If you catch my drift.

man, what do I have to do to get spyware trojan porn?

I just get a goofy looking chick with glasses trying to lend me $10,000 at interest rates I assume are in quadruple digits. However, when I touch myself I like to think she has greate tits, and a perfectly shaped scrotum.

I don't think there's any way you'll be able to get this site clean enough for the ESF mods to accept it. Besides, it's sort of a "closing the gates after the horses have already left" situation. Unless you purged the archives and put in replacers for all the swear words - (maybe using something like the old ESF spotted owl system) and beat all the posters with a large mallet . . . then maybe . . . but then the site would lose so much charm . . . and that's no fun

Probably stuck posting just the text of anything that needs to be said over there . . . rather than links . . . bummer, but they're ban crazy . . . .

If we were going to bend over backwards to please TES people to get their traffic, wouldn't it have been easier to just post a hugely positive review with a big "97!" at the end? That's what other sites do, isn't it?

I'm sorry but when did we care about what other people think of the Codex?

Whats the difference between written or graphic smut?

My father and I got in this argument. He let me read Godfather at 12, but he would steal all my porno and yell at me. Even my midget porn. I don't collect midget pron to masterbate to, I collect it for amusement. Mighets are funny. Midgets sitting are funning, midgets walking are funny, midgets talking are funny. They were placed on this world to amuse us. What could be more funny than midget sex? Nothing. So I can read serious smut, but I can't watch amusing smut? Thats silly. And so is this policy. Work is for working, not looking at gay rpg sites.

I have highlighted the key point for you. You have to ask yourself "why does this site exist?" If its purpose is to be offensive in a retarded way, posting idiotic pictures for one reason only - because you fucking can, then it's one thing. If its purpose is to provide information other sites can't or won't, then it's unwise to give other people reasons to kill that information. I highly doubt that Bethesda would have given the order to remove all the "links, directions, and references" (that's a quote of one of the Bethesda's developers, btw) without having a convinient excuse provided by some retards here.

Of course people care what the TES fanboys think. Not in the sense that the rpgcodex is going to tag along and think like them, but in the sense that those fanboys are the audience Bethsheba is aiming for. Change the way the ESF fanboys think, influence their expectations, and you would alter to some extent the way Bethsheba thinks.

Edit:
Amusing choice of avatar, Roqua. :D

Then why allow naughty words? People only use vulgar language because they can. Any idea can be communicated in a less offensive manner, and usually more effectively and intelligently, with out the use of profanity.

Or at least explain your long-term goals so I can understand the policies and smut rankings. Is it to be respected by major sites? Or just tone down the amount of smut enough to not be instantly discredited? Will I ever have to stop talking about my cockasaurus or raping and urinating on members of protected groups? And lastly, I would like to this: I like boobies.

Because, quite frankly, they are an acceptable communication element in the adult society, business or casual. Porn isn't.

No arguing here.

World domination.

What are we going to do tonight, Brain?
Same thing we do every night, Pinky, try and take over the world!

Is it to be respected by major sites?
Yeah, right.

Or just tone down the amount of smut enough to not be instantly discredited?
Something like that.

Will I ever have to stop talking about my cockasaurus or raping and urinating on members of protected groups?
Would be nice.

And lastly, I would like to this: I like boobies.
Who doesn't?

The reason we disapprove of embedded naughty images (and really nothing else) is because that makes it difficult for people to read the site at work or at school. You can write whatever the hell you want because to a casual passer-by, text is text is text. Unless you're Blackheart and you're posting 14-step instructions on kidnapping and raping pre-teens, you can put whatever the hell you want in words. That other boards like TESF refuse to link to us because of that is unfortunate because let's face it, what others think of you DOES matter. Do not believe the lies of the after school specials of your youth. It's doubly annoying because even with the TESF mods apparently deleting any reference to us from history, we still get the odd moron from over there showing up here.

The only "bad thing" I can see here are those shock pics. And oblivion topics which of course are very sexual. Is it really that hard to regulate them?

"we still get the odd moron from over there showing up here."

We get ESF morons showing up here because:

1. We talk about Oblivion all the time so people think this is the Alternate ESF.

2. We seem to have a vendetta against Beth so they come here to prove us wrong or teach us a lesson or join us in the bashing.

3. Codex members go to the ESF, post links to the Codex, and pick fights with teenagers.

I doubt the original topic would be an issue if it wasn't for these things (especially #3). DAC is so much worse than the Codex, but it's not an issue because DAC members don't go off to ESF to tell them how wrong they all are.

And keep in mind part of Summer's argument was about our smutty ads and popups, which has nothing to do with tubgirl. That's an issue that should be discussed with Taluntain if we're really concerned.

I have my browsers internal pop-up blocker on and I don't have a problem.

Ad-killers = BAD

Pop-Uo Blockers = Okay.

All I get are the banner ads and stuff.
