Similar to the eXoDOS project, this is a pre-configured collection of Apple II GS titles with manuals and extras included. It's only about 8 gigs in total.

This might be of interest to some of you because the Apple II GS ports of the Bard's Tale I and II are the best bug-free versions (more or less on par with the Amiga versions, but the Amiga versions are horribly buggy, therefore not recommended at all), and the early Sierra AGI games are probably best played on this platform too (Tandy would be a close second with the 3-channel music). Moreover, the collection includes the 1992 remake of Ultima I with better graphics and somewhat different gameplay.

I'm not really a torrenting guy, so I'll wait for someone to upload this to the Internet Archive or whatever. Does it have some of the diskmag games included? I remember it was a complete pain tracking some of those down.

Aw, damn, its missing some of the Catacomb series. I suppose it can't be helped considering how much of a pain it is to track those later titles down.

You can send the guys a message, or maybe even provide the games if you have them. Why not torrent, btw? Just use a VPN, man :)

Frankly, considering the rarity of them, I'm not even sure they could find them, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to ask.
I mean, I can find most stuff I actually want to get through various direct downloads or filesharing sites, so I haven't had reason to install one in a long time, outside of rare situations like this. Not like I'm terribly concerned about whether or not I need a VPN for some old games for a system nobody makes anymore.

Ah okay. I torrent everything — I refuse to pay for subscription services out of principle, or for anything that has DRM (except when there's no other way, and I really want it).

I just found out about this while looking at the eXoDOS website for fun... holy shit am I excited! And they made a ScummVM version?! I had no idea.. I only knew about the DOS and Win3X versions.
I already have nearly 100 Apple IIGS games setup in LaunchBox, along with over 300 Atari ST games and I don't even know how many for Apple ][ but this is certainly going to surpass my own setup judging from how excellent eXoDOS is.

Man, I'm glad I'm not the guy who had to scan in the manuals and extras for the Star Saga games. You could use those things to beat a moose to death.

Posting again just to say that it is awesome, just as good as I'd hoped and expected. I seriously love the eXo packages, and now have eXoDOS, eXoScummVM and eXoAppleIIGS setup in my copy of LaunchBox. With these, the C64 Dreams package for the Commodore 64 and the Amiga package I'm overloaded with amazing games ready to go. Each of these ended up replacing libraries I put together myself, both because they are much more comprehensive and because they are preconfigured with a much greater knowledge of emulation than I possess. Mine all worked well enough and it was fun to go through the process of searching for rare games and metadata and all that stuff, but these come all kinds of extra stuff if you want it, like diskmags, demoscenes, magazine collections, etc. so for me it really isn't a difficult decision despite removing many hours of work as the end result far surpasses anything I could ever put together.
