Fitting name though. I've never seen bestia written as a compliment. Ferus sometimes, but bestia never.

Wonder when it'll release given that Steam gives '2021' as the release date.

Will need to be soon or they'll lose any chance of decent front page exposure once Steam's various winter sales start up, which isn't far off really.

The game is under-exposed and largely unnoticed at the moment. They need to push it off to 2022 and do at least a little bit of marketing if they don't want a total flop on their hands. Sad but true.

Day one purchased from me, of course. These guys have earned my loyalty through and through. I'd just like to see them get a little more success.

Day 1 purchase for me as well. I have yet to play E: Conquistadors (it's on my to play list), but E: Viking was outstanding. Along with Shadowrun: Dragonfall EASILY the 2 best iso RPGs of the modern era.

I'm playing through Conquistador right now, it's pretty good. I actually owned a copy back in the day, but never got into it. It's like King's Bounty but stronger story and more events, resource management, and the units are party characters. Once I'm done, I'll give Vikings another chance.

People who play this kind of game is already aware of it. I doubt delaying the release would do any good in this respect. Especially if you consider it will get media coverage since it has a big publisher behind it now.

It's going to be a major flop unless they draw in a some new audience. Even here hardly anyone is paying attention to it.

Not really, a lot people I know that played WL3, Divinity, Pathfinder, etc, typically has never even heard of Expeditions. I chalk that up to the setting and presentation mostly, I don't really think its easy to sell historical fantasy.

That crafting system sounds stupid as hell. They wanted to contextualize it as a roman, only why the hell are you finding fucking plans all over the place? Why do you have to give your smith shit to learn, is the smith an idiot? Crafting is not really suited for this background at all, lol. Maybe for like, curatives, but they just wanted a similar itemization as their last games.

Funnily enough, this is just "RPG Crafting 101", it's such a bog standard feature that the dev diary was basically not worth reading. Immersion aside, it could fit well in an Expeditions game, I suppose - I still find the "lead a legion" aspect far more stupid.

I am so unimaginably fucking tired of crafting systems because they always mean your inventory will get cluttered with 50 types of materials that you need to scavenge by playing a dungeon janitor that checks every barrel, crate and other type of container
    God fucking damnit

There's exactly 2 rpg's with good crafting system that actually adds something to game.
    NEO Scavenger and Cataclysm: DDA.

Crafting only really works when it's the only way to get equipment.

Yeah, I will give these guys the benefit of the doubt, cause crafting wasnt terrible in E:V, but overall, I am not a fan of crafting in rpgs either. It belongs more in survival type games.

After playing A Legionary's Life where the developer both did their homework and integrated it into the game mechanics I can tell this is gonna be very hard to take seriously. I hate how powerful ranged weapons are in general in this series. Really doesn't suit the time period or small scale of the fights (Expeditions was theoretically the least annoying since crossbows and firearms were quite novel against natives, though somehow the native slingers were far more deadly than your muskets or crossbows). Melee should undeniably be king with ranged weapons situationally useful and supplementary for some hybrid characters at best. Half of the Expeditions battles felt more like a WW1 trench battle than the Viking era due to the accuracy and lethality of ranged weapons.
