I'm triggered by Lilura's weird tiny avatar so I went digging in JA2's files to see if I could create better ones.

Problem: There are a bunch of portraits in the game (in the faces.slf file) that only seem to exist in small versions.

Yet on the JA wiki, they seem to have larger versions of those portraits.

For example, Deidranna's portrait from faces.slf:

And on the wiki: https://jaggedalliance.fandom.com/wiki/Deidranna_Reitman

latest

Now our current JA2 gallery also uses these wiki versions for some its avatars, so I don't want to replace them with inferior smaller versions. Where are these larger portraits coming from? An older non-Gold version of the game, perhaps?

big ones seem to be cropped from screenshots taken in-game, you can still see remnants of the ui from the not-pixel-perfect crop, no?

Could be, but that means they should be in the game files somewhere.

I think there are also some portraits that I can't find at all, even in smaller versions. For example, the Cleve/Calvin Barkmore portrait. We can't lose that.

not in BIGFACES, bunch of them just sitting in the faces master folder

Great.

I also wanted to get the portraits from JA2: Wildfire, but Dragon Unpacker doesn't seem to recognize the file format of its faces.slf.
