Fallout 2 problem: Bishop

I've opened two of the safes in Bishop's place, New Reno, but haven't disarmed the trap and unlocked the third. I have the briefcase but haven't delivered it to Bishop yet, who's now near the billiards table with his guards. I'm unable to deliver it to BIshop now (after sleeping with his wife) and am attacked on sight.

Is there a way to get from the third floor to the second, and can you get out of the Bishop place without having to take him on at this point? I made the mistake of saving each time I opened a safe, and don't have a save slot before the Bishop place -- stupid, I know. Thanks.

If you're really good, you may be able to sneak out. Otherwise, I remember Bishop forcing you to take a job if you sleep with his wife, although this may only work if you've brought the briefcase.

In my case he always attacked.

Fortunately my @can remember the word@ was high and i was able to attact first.

So i went down fired a gunshot then up before round end .

That way i managed to kill him.

Sequence, chris. But Killing him might not help. If you kill Bishop, it'll set off all the guards on the two lower floors, which leads to a huge ugly battle that (I'm guessing) our dear John Syron can't survive.

I got past the problem yesterday. It turns out that if you go into combat mode, you can sneak past the guards as well as Bishop to the second floor, then show the briefcase to a guard and be allowed to go back up to Bishop, accept the contract hit, etc.

Kind of odd that you can't sneak past without combat mode, but it works. (I found it while checking a walkthrough.)

The weird thing is that my three NPCs were gone when I got to the ground floor of the casino. (My car had also been stolen, but I got it back from the chop shop with cash.) I'm going to continue the game without them (Sulik, Cassidy, and Vic) since I can get others (like the mutant mayor).

Anyway, thanks for the replies.

That's a nasty little bug. If you sleep with a Bishop lady without telling you party to 'wait here until I come back' first, they disappear with all you stuff. Yeah, it sucks.

I have some vague memories that I did it that way: had the 'always run' option on, stood outside the room with a pool table and clicked while the mouse pointer changed into a hand over the stairs leading down. I mean that you have to run through the whole room with a pool table without stopping! I think that I got 1 hex of Bishop and he didn't see me. The "run from a long distance and they won't see ya" technique worked in some other places too, IIRC.

I'll assume they got bored and wandered off. The NPCs are "out there, travelling on a shoeshine and a smile." :)

To get your buddies back, go to the Cat's Paw in New Reno and hook them up. They'll come back with a big grin on their faces.

Uhm.. I've slept with both Bishops women and my party disappeared. I look back to the Cat's Paw, but no finding them. What do you mean with "hook them up"?
