Fallout Fallout 3 isn’t as bad as you think...

Graphic is dated

Forget dated, the game looked terrible at the time.
Leaving aside the lowres look of 2008, Fallout 3 has its own innate visual theme of apocalyptic urban look (enb). From Big Town to DC ruins... It does not look vibrant and colorful for sure~

Dirty, full of trash... no, a lot of us doesnt like that visual theme.

Even back in '08 people on BGSF (including me) were complaining about the disgusting green filter and abundance of rubble. That green filter man, it gives Deus Ex: Human Revolution a run for its money.

That all said, F3 has a charm to it. It's not a Fallout charm, but it is charming. I had fun with F3 back when it came out. Some of my favorite gaming moments are from F3.

Weird, I did play F3 for the 1st time just last year. I dont remember being bother about green filter or anything ( I dont install any mod that mess with ENB aspect).

The trashy ruins though... Oh well, nothing a porno poster and billboards mod cant fix~ it's still trash but I dont be bother so much whenever I take a close look at the surroundings.

Morrowind's environments do look unconventionally pretty. It's a very alien looking landscape which helps to set it further apart from attempts at photo-realistic landscapes (or in Oblivion's case, standard cartoony high fantasy landscapes shrouded in bloom).

Fallout New Vegas only getting one year of dev time is the biggest tragedy in video gaming history.

Oblivion looked good at release except for the potato characters, it just aged horribly like most games from the overbloom era. Sort of has a quaint fantasy charm to it though.

I prefer orange filter over green filter so New Vegas obviously is the better game.

With enough mods, any Bethesda game can be tweaked to your liking, more or less. As a stand-alone post-apocalpyptic sandbox game, it's pretty neat (with the right mods). But if you play the Fallout games sequentially Fallout 3 (and the rest) have a totally different feel than the prior games in the series. I think if they went with their own IP they would not have pissed off the fans of the original series (not that they care, but anyway).

I also use the mods to remove the filters on both games and lo and behold, it's no longer nauseating to look at. Lmao at the inflated graph for the Khan alliance quest, it's true that everything is linked story/lorewise but only a few of these steps are necessary for the completion of Oh My Papa. As for Fallout 3, it's alright and the physics engine with ragdolls and the dismemberments was a funny experience back in the days. Who didn't enjoy dropping 50 frag mines at the feet of an npc just to send him tickling the clouds?

Well hot-dog, it's a small internet after all! I remember you as well. Though it does makes semse I'd encounter another BGSF goer on a forum for cantankerous old RPG fans.

I still remember game journos trying to argue why a sadistic middle aged man pretending being a little girl while running a simulation and demanding you to kill random NPCs in it for LoLs was a good quest or why Camp Little Light existing wasnt a good reason to not let Bethesda's design team get closer to a computer ever again.
