There was nothing in FO3. One town - Megaton - and that was that. I guess there was that tower skyscraper, but it was pretty boring and small. Not a real town.
Skyrim, on the other hand had so many cities that I never even visited all of them. That's content. It also had dungeons that gave you clear and valuable rewards in those dragon points or whatever it was. The FO3 dungeons were boring and lootless.
FO3 was basically a mediocre Fallout-themed shooter with high production values.
Wait what? That starting village you find right outside the vault is only "town" ?
I uninstalled that game after 1 hour but I always thought that was just like small starting villages from Fo1 and Fo2 and you find bigger ones later.

There was also that town build into an old aircraft carrier, which was similar size, iirc. Other than that not much, a couple smaller settlements which were linked to (or contained) a side quest and a few largely pointless NPCs.

Make the Codex Great Again!
That's a lie, nearly every dungeon had a story to tell (frequently without using any words) and/or some unique item to find, collectible stuff like skill books, etc. And what fucking incentive do you need? Exploration is the whole point of playing bethesda games.

I'm afraid not, it's the cold hard truth. Most dungeons had no story at all, some non-sequitur vignette at best and the rest will be your headcanon. Insinuating content is not content and FO3 was about insinuating content. Hey it was a fun enough romp the very first time, but it was a shallow sophomoric effort. Which may or may not have been excusable at the time, but Fallout NV demonstrated so well how sophomoric this effort was, because everything Fallout 3 did passably, Fallout NV did better and then some.

In a vacuum there are redeeming qualities to FO3, but only in a vacuum.

Just a friendly reminder that Mastermind began his 'dex career tirelessly whiteknighting for Oblivion. Just like war, some things never change.

Why do Piper and her sister both repeatedly reference a printing press when Publick Occurrences looks hand-written in game?

Besides Megaton there are Rivet City, Little Lamplight, Underworld, Paradise Falls, Big Town, Brotherhood fortress. All quite small, though.

And there is also Tenpenny Tower, with a quest line that would make Merkel ban the game in Germany if it were out today.

This is Bethesda's Call of Duty. Every clueless retard i meet on the net or in IRL bought Fallout 4. I and some others like me who played F1,F2, F tactics, and even finished that piece of shit F3, didn't even cared of the release. I migth try it in a year or two with some mods, bought at 10$ max. Just like i did with Skyrim... The only game i wait from major studious, is the new XCOM 2, hopefully wont be completely inane. But then again, i am not a popamole consoletard. Even if frustrated people like Metro call me a mobile developer, cause i did 2 prototypes to see how horrible the google/ios market is.

Casual and constoletards have a place in gaming like all gamers, but when all industry evolves around these morons, then we have the problems arised in the last 10 years. Shit developers and games, no gaming culture for devs or gamers, everything is shit TM.

People calling this game bullshit, hating and insulting everyone who likes/bought it. You know. The Codex never changes.

I tell you man, Fallout 3 is a guilty pleasure for me and FO4 just felt way off and boring in just a couple of hours.
It really goes beyond typical Codex edgy rhetoric and Bethesda general suckitude. Maybe it had something to do with playing it along with two idiots and I need to retry it by myself.

But seriously, the dialogue was so tedious and slow and boring. And they give me a lazer weapon and a minigun and a power armor in the first 30 minute. And you fight a deathclaw 5 minutes later. And the crafting shit bored me.

I would have never imagined these words would flow from my fingers: This game would be greatly improved as a Blobber. Wizards n Warriors n Wastelands.....Id play the hell out of that.

If I knew Obsidian was going to be working on F4:Story Mode, then I'd be more enthusiastic about completing it...but knowing any expansion will just be more of the same is a bummer.

XCOM 2 is pretty much the last hope for actual games right now. I'm going to be heartbroken if it ends up a mess.

New Vegas was pretty good imho. It's a different game from the originals, but it's similar in a couple ways too. I liked it. In fact, I think it would have made a great Fallout 3, even with the first-person real-time. I certainly would have preferred a legitimate successor made by the original developers, but I'll take what I can get. I can tell the developers for New Vegas put their creativity and energy to work on that title, and I'm not going to blast them for it.

Maybe it's because I was burnt out after playing FO3, but FO:NV didn't feel all that different to me. The whole "Roman legionnaires in the American south west" thing struck me as quite silly, for instance.

Played few hours today. Since game doesn't seem to scale HP via def. i started on very hard. Just reached Diamond City
Initial impressions:

- They did upgrade gunplay. I liked few guns in FNV and none in F3 but here more or less all of them are fun to use.
- Weapon customization is interesting, though i would be awesome if FNV different ammo types would return
- Armor customization is way to basic. Either way there are normal armor out there aside from parts so you can totally ignore it. Though managed to get unique part which gave me -15% to damage from animals which is kind of neat considering how loot was done in F3 and FNV
- Found unique one hander gun that uses .44 ammor not .45 and kicks like mule (5 ammo and never found new .44 ammo)
- Map size is something like 50% of F3. It is really really small. From starting town you can walk to center of map in like 4 minutes and only because you can't move straight.
- Powerarmor got complete overhaul. First of fuel. Fuel Cells you need to find, so far i found 2 which means that basically after a while it will slow down to crawl (lack of fuel slows down it a lot). Also it is kind of expensive to repair it
- Base Building. This is Wasteland Defence in all of its form. Similar UI, similar design and finishing. Which means that this could provide "fun" for OCD players for long hours. Also "settlements" not "settlement" which means that there are few or more settlements where you can start village or upgrade one already existing. Proper money sink (and time sink)
- So far i die regularly but not because Damage i receive is big but usually i am outnumbered and AI got buff so it tries to hide or pop up from time to time instead of going at your regardless if they are hurt or not
- No skills, basically you can use any armor, gun, malee weapon or whatever from start with 0 problem. DECLINE.
- Perks system is completely changed. So far imo decline. Perks here are all powerful and they are too general. I guess you can still create "builds" but they will be general not specialist.
- A lot of charisma checks that usually only works as continuation of some topic. Decline.
- So far quests are weak.
- Writting is boring as fuck and it is often out of touch or tone. HEY I MINUTE AGO SURVIVED NUCLER BLAST AND NOW YOU WANT ME TO BE SOME KIND OF MINUTETARD ?
- Characters are boring and nonsensical for theme of game. They look more like characters from comic book than actually post apo game
- Surprisingly good performance AND game is almost bug/glitchless for me. I play mostly 30-50fps with almost everything on ultra on my 7970. Game also looks a lot better then i thought. Characters are wonky but their new PBR lighting does wonders sometimes.
- They also use non screen space god rays. They are performance hog but finally some proper god rays (last time i saw them was in STALKER Clear Sky). What does it mean? Proper god rays do not vanish when you don't look at them.
- Finally Keyboard and mouse has proper binding and functionality. Sure it isn't perfect but compared to F3 or FNV KM is leaps and above better (especially barter and stuff like that)
- One stray bullet can completely change faction relation to you from friendly to annihilation.
- Explosives DO hurt in this game (though i don't know if it is because of VH def.. )
- Stimpacs and food works over time now instead of being instant like in F3 and non survival FNV
- good amount of ammo balance so far. I need to be careful about ammo compared to F3 or FNV

So far it is as we predicted. Writing, quest design, characters and dialogs are your bethseda cardboard design, though i am yet to finish game. On other hand gunplay is better so killing those npcs and kid when mods arrive will be better.

Are you saying at least one action in this game has a consequence? That simply cannot be right.
