I'm on my 4th book in the Lost Fleet series, I just can't stop reading.
Lost fleet is boring. Soon you will realize it's always the same thing. Ultra stupid far future commanders need to rely on Jack Black whatever to save the day (repeatedly).

Info flash: Demon King is exactly what it says, she (in this case) rules all demons. Xavier is not an exeption.

So Chaos was once a human, do tell.

Look here, if my list was full when Kentarou joined, one of the commanders would die in an accident (no event, just a short note). In this case it would have be Ranmaru, there is an algorithm for who dies but I can’t be assed to check it.

Bro, how come you have so much gold anyway? Is it because it's a later playthrough or cheats? You could really buy tons of troops with all that money

I like having a nice stockpile so asset tech gives more, and then only buying troops when you're getting ready to face someone. Don't know about whiskey wolf.

You know, picking this on hard and hardest difficulty level wouldn't be a mistake at all.

When you have to face armies 3 times as large as your is that pretty often use Assassination or AOE attacks having a turn of respite for your more vulnerable troops (e.g. allowing Natori to "prepare" Miko Storm 2 ) can make all the difference. Plus, if you have a monk able to convert actions in battles you can use this ability over and over again.

A like how racist this game can become on the hardest level

@WW:

Please, include the scene where Rance gets ass-raped by Gigai! :D

Just finished the game the second time, Kill the monkey route, 2nd difficulty (the one with 120 points). Now I have 106 points to spend at the beginning.

What does the "additional character" option do, the one for 20 points?

What is the fastest way to get points?

After my first playthrough in which I fucked up the last boss fight 3 times I was rewarded with a meager 5 points. :|

Kentarou
is so awesome if you get him Demonized

If you're defending a territory, you can just field him on his own and he'll tank everything, while the enemies helplessly waste their turns down.

Clear characters, when they level up get an ability with +2 ending points, try to get 50 satisfaction asap for a fan and generally try to finish game quickly.

If you don't mind save scumming, remember that if you get an item with a bonus to affection from combat, you can reload and fight again until you get +3/+4 item instead of a weaker one.

And don't worry about getting only 5 points. It's not uncommon to score as little and you should get much more in 2nd playthrough.

Ok, I started playing Rance, without consulting any guides and shit. I'm at turn 24 , still have only two fans and the Tenshi sect has declared war on me :

Can I avoid that the Ninja Country declares war on me? Right after I wiped Tenshi off the map they declared war on me, totally screwing with my plans.

Yeah, can do.

Simply declare war on any other country before ninjas declare war on you. Always worked for me.

No, in the true history route (and that's what you're currently playing since it's your first time) Nobunaga always stirs up shit which causes Tenshi to declare war around that turn. Expect a percentage of your troops to desert.

Anyway, the only thing bothersome Tenshi have is Seigan himself. Most of these thousands of troops you see in between turn are peasant units which are large but completely worthless. Have fun with one of the weakest countries in the game :D If you've beaten Tokugawa you'll have absolutely no trouble with Tenshi.

HINT: watch the gourd count. If you break five gourds early in the game (ie. before you control the great majority of JAPAN) you're pretty much screwed and you'll have to start over (unless that's your plan)

Question to others:

does the tenma bridge event (the one where you have to make haste to Morocco or else the forbidden youkai sinks JAPAN) happen at a set turn or do you have to be close enough to Morocco for it to happen?

Regarding the bridge

The event happens either when you attack the province with the bridge in it or have conquered all the other provinces (or just South Africa province, I honestly don't know) belonging to Demon Army

Ah, so basically you can combat the demon army indefinitely?

Playing Kill The Monkey route again, this time on the hardest difficulty. So far no assrape but I cringe when I see the goddamn unit numbers.

Another question: how does the game calculate the score available? Is it the highest achieved end-game score + some bonus for the routes you've completed?

I currently have 106 points available. If I end the game with less than that it won't reset to the lower count, right?

Start at a higher difficulty level. Instant up to 200 points :P.

Basically, yes. Best score achieved ever + 5 bonus points for every story route completed (killing the monkey doesn't count as a route for this purpose).
