"Enforced iron man in a non-combat game" is a weird stretch goal/feature, but they already made it, so okay.

Some people stated, that they'd love a mode, where frying someone's brain would be irreparable. Once you make a decision there will be no going back. We thought it might be a cool feature.

We've reached over 85k, which means you've unlocked Additional character customization. Now your Gamedec will have five more skins to choose from! Many of you wanted a bigger skin pool with classic additions to your character style. What skins would you like to see? Write it down in the comments, maybe it'll inspire us to craft something unexpected!

And now it's time for one of the most significant stretch goals we have prepared for all of you.
8f6929f52835ba6c711b0d75ddd97c9a_original.png

If you reach the mark of 100k, which means double the amount of our initial goal, you will unlock a whole new virtual world in Gamedec, inspired by the game Seven: The Days Long Gone.

4da0f66d086076d1d082a13383b38dd2_original.png

Reaching this goal will give you a chance to solve a case related to this game world and be able to see some locations from it as a part of the Gamedec Virtualia!

For those who already played Seven: The Days Long Gone it’ll be a chance to re-visit some of the familiar locations once more and have a unique feeling of Gamedec gameplay in the world of Seven: The Days Long Gone!

If you are not familiar with the Seven: The Days Long Gone game you can check it out on Steam! https://store.steampowered.com/app/471010/Seven_Enhanced_Edition/

It's an open-world, isometric stealth, and action role-playing game, in which you play as Teriel, a master thief sent on a mission that will shake the foundations of the Vetrall Empire. Developed by Fool's Theory and IMGN.PRO - our dear friends from Poland!

2563071c491e700679c0cfe6f8954cc6_original.jpg

Fool's Theory is a collective of AAA veterans who share a simple philosophy - unbridled passion and flexible process is the perfect combo for crafting great games.

IMGN.PRO is an independent team of game specialists with over 10 years of industry experience: their main mission is to develop and to help publish great indie games.

We thought a lot about expanding the number of possible Virtual Worlds you can visit.

You asked many times about it and because of your constant support of our Kickstarter Campaign – we sat down with "Seven's" Team and asked them if they want to collaborate, and they said yes! We hope you’ll like this idea as much as we do!

So without further ado, help us bring Seven to Gamedec!

Codex Update (9): Official Gamedec Coloring Book and an update about Reward Tiers!

e487e53b8d229fcee6fc14f0dfdb0819_original.png

Hi There, we're not stopping, and now we are rolling out another update!

Our first announcement is the release of the OFFICIAL GAMEDEC COLORING BOOK!

Since some of us are currently sitting at home (because of the quarantines all over the world), we present to you something special we've made to cheer you up and give you something to relax and get creative!

Behold! The official Gamedec Coloring book!

Click on the image to download the colourbook!

You can print the content and color it the way you like it! Some of those designs are the locations from the game or pieces of concept arts. Paint them in a way that suits your style best.

Also, It's time to present to you the first Gamedec Community Contest!

The rules are simple – download and print the coloring book, and paint one of the pictures the best you can, then post them in the -community-creations channel on our Discord server. If you don’t have a printer or prefer to do it digitally – we are still interested in what the outcome will be. Like our game – we won’t judge, every art is worthy enough to be submitted to the contest. Every technique is allowed.

Our judges will select five best arts, and the winners will be included in the "Hall of Fame" section in our OFFICIAL ARTBOOK! That’s right! We’re giving our community a space to boast. That’s not an April Fool’s joke. If you’re a backer and your pledge does not include the physical artbook – we will provide one for you so that you can put it on a shelf in the honorable place [or post it on social media ;)]

PLEDGES UPDATE: Two Physical and one Digital reward added:

Because of huge interest and your many comments about the physical pledges being too limited, we decided to do something about it.

For those who weren't able to reach the first batch, we've prepared a second one – as you can see, they are 10$ more expensive than previous versions – to honor the initial backers, what we think is a fair thing to do.

The Physical Pledges are:

Low City Dweller 2.0 - $129 - 100 pieces
9854b108231eeab26c80f3d06ac30868_original.png

Out-Ranger 2.0 - $209 - 60 pieces
d1620a70d6ccc35bc68ae2cf8c0503a9_original.png

The new Digital Pledge is:

JOURNALIST - Only 35 Available

d2bb4208e91b244ebc0ee04e6fb7e1a4_original.png

What does the „Your name in Codex as a News Editor” means?
0fa931e4d3280191303a5067766308b2_original.gif

In our game, there are a couple of media-outlets that are making reports about the current events in the gamedecverse. The name of the backer who chooses this pledge will replace the name of the News Editor who wrote such an article! That means when players unlock the news in the codex – everyone will see who was responsible for that article - YOU!

We will write those Reports by ourselves to be 100% sure they're correct lore-wise.

If you don’t want to miss anything, watch our Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube channel. Let's make more things happen! If you’d like to talk with our team members, or want to ask a question to the Author of the Gamedecverse (Marcin S. Przybyłek) or chat with enthusiasts like you - join our Discord channel.

Codex Update (10): Game Mechanics: ASPECTS

bbd91b1e41f06112ad4a1f3b5ff2ccfc_original.png

Hi there, everyone!

A few days ago, we mentioned that we are preparing an update revealing some more info about mechanics in the game. This time we want to say something more about Aspects!

When we started working on Gamedec, the idea of transferring pen & paper roleplaying experience onto the computer screen was one of our most important goals. What we aimed for was simulating the fact that your character, during p&p sessions, is a work in progress, defined by choices, with character traits emerging in most unexpected situations. That's why we decided to go with the Aspects.

Aspects are elements of Gamedec's characterization that cover many different sides of a character – some of them are typical traits, some describe assets in possession of your character, Aspects can also tell you about Gamedec's background or skills. Think of them as tags, if you like.

0aa451498e93712d995dc1f312387ec7_original.gif

Few of them we gain during character creation. After answering a set of questions, you are presented with a bunch of Aspects that seem to define your character best. You will gain most of them during your playthrough. Choosing a vicious answer during dialogue, or showing MacGyverish level of problem solutions will give you certain Aspects. Beware, because you may also lose an Aspect. For example: if you have the "Rich" Aspect, people from higher reaches of society will be more willing to talk with you. If you spend too much money, you will lose the "Rich" tag, and dialogue options available before will be greyed out.

dae1abd0a3fd9e3100983d746975ad16_original.gif

This is where it gets interesting. Aspects, while describing your character further, are here for a different reason. They are used as a currency for unlocking different branches of the Profession tree. And Professions are – next to the Deduction system – your primary way of leading your investigations. Think of them as skills you obtain to unlock specific dialogue options or environmental actions. Want to manipulate your suspect? Professions are your answer – unlock a profession to be master in people skills. Locked door? Bypass the lock if you chose to go with a "Hacker" profession. There is still more to tell, but that's a topic for another update.

How did you like our description? Would you like to know more?

If you don’t want to miss anything, watch our Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube channel. Let's make more things happen! If you’d like to talk with our team members, or want to ask a question to the Author of the Gamedecverse (Marcin S. Przybyłek) or chat with enthusiasts like you - join our Discord channel.

Codex Update (11): 200% Funded! Two new Stretch Goals Unlocked!

48ba10f41792a4d85013697daef8ad9d_original.png

Thanks to you we're at 200% of our initial goal!

That means that the world inspired by the game Seven: The Days Long Gone is now a part of Gamedecverse, as a Virtualium in which you'll be able to solve another case!

There are no words to express our gratitude towards everyone who already backed and supported us during this time. Our campaign is growing, and it's reaching more people along the way. We are happy that all of you are a part of it!

So, as a token of our gratitude, we are presenting today TWO NEW STRETCH GOALS, with a little twist added to it.

54c8b6a63301b2ffcd4df241d1796153_original.png

The first one is at 115k - Additional Languages - French and Spanish!
For those who asked us many times and for the communities alongside the rest of the languages already announced - we are listening! So if you want those two languages to be added - help us reach this goal, and we will make it happen!

The second stretch goal we're announcing is a Completely New Virtualium.
Let us explain why we are announcing it early.

When we sat down during this stretch goal discussion, we decided to make good on our promise of what this Kickstarter is all about – it's about YOU helping us to shape the game we all want to play. It's about community-driven development.

We discussed two possible world additions, a classic isometric RPG vibe of a post-apocalyptic reality, and a perfect detective setting of H.P Lovecraft's Cthulu lore. We let you choose which one is the best fit for Gamedecverse!

43de38646a06df4ac534c516524a6fbe_original.png

POST APO
Post-apocalyptic Virtualium is just the place for those who want to test their skill and grit. Never-ending desert scorched by the merciless sun, smell of blood-soaked into the sand. But people come here for something else. An unceasing orchestra of death, created by roaring engines, torn metal and snapped bones.

Welcome to the death race, where the winner is one, and the dead are aplenty. Nothing is against the rules, and everything is on the table. As long as there is no one to doubt your story. Yet… there is one and only one haven here. It shields from the scorching sun and bloodthirsty competitors alike. The Pit Stop, or… The Pits, if you like. No killing, no fighting… and the machines? Holy and untouchable.

If someone were to break this delicate truce and tamper with wheels of another, it would unleash hell on earth (or what's left of it). And people suspect someone did. Wanna check it out, Gamedec?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CTHULHU
"This place has only three exits, sir: Madness, and Death."

- Rene Daumal

They say there is a virtualium that can make one mad. That somewhere in the small port town every shadow hides a whisper and every whisper knows a secret. If you look at a window – there will always be a pair of eyes looking right back at you. If you look at the lighthouse – you're sane mind will be blinded. The Old Ones claimed that town years ago, guarding secrets that might shake the very fabric of time and space. Or at least so they say – no one achieved that while keeping their mind intact. And when you fall into the warm embrace of insanity – you lose. You wake up in the realium, and all that you've seen is like a distant nightmare, fleeting from your memory. Your decisions are yours again. But you go back there, time after time.

Now the best ones – those who get closest to the truth – don't wake up as themselves anymore. They belong to the Abyss. Broken.

Would you try going there, Gamedec, sir? Knowing you'll have only one chance at solving this case and still, it might cost you your mind?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the link below, you'll find an exclusive pool in which you may vote for the virtual world you want to be added - when the campaign reaches the 115k goal, we will post the results and will update this stretch goal with additional info - how about that?

If you want to expand the world of Gamedec further with a virtualium, you want to solve a case in - Vote! Share it, spread the word about the campaign, and this stretch goal!

If you don't want to miss anything, watch our Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube channel. Let's make more things happen! Codex Update (12): Lore Database: Who is Gamedec?

02ce2c3188bb5a7886467aff59ec6383_original.png

Hello detectives!

Because they are living on the border of reality, a gamedec ceases to make arbitrary distinctions of what is real and what is not. As a detective, they solve crimes in both real and virtual worlds – Who are gamedecs? What are the requirements for this profession?

Pour yourself some whiskey, and dig deep into the article below!

30a3858cdc96b4fe5a1909c2d16e3848_original.jpg

The first gamers who solved other people’s problems in-game emerged as far back as the 1920s, but it wasn’t until 120 years later, when online entertainment became as common as a morning walk, that problems became so manifold they called for someone well-prepared to deal with them.

A gamedec.

Until the 2170s, gamedecs were called “solvers”. Following the death of Sam Hawthorne, one of the best of their kind who used to say that “detection ends the case,” detectives for hire who deal with online problems started calling themselves gamedecs.

The labyrinth principle states that whoever is inside the labyrinth cannot conceive its structure. That is why they need someone from the outside with a bird’s-eye view. Such a person must possess three key characteristics:
  1. Be a good gamer,
  2. Know basic coding,
  3. Know human nature.
Gamedecs are called in by gamers who cannot cope with an in-game puzzle or who need help with a particularly difficult part of gameplay, they are hired by clans looking for an extra gun to use in online battles or sought by game developing organizations and corporations who suspect they are being sabotaged by their competition. Gamedecs are hired by celebrities and politicians who got involved in subtle gaming relations and need discreet help in getting out of it.

Every gamedec has a different past, a different story. It’s a profession performed by former doctors, journalists, businessmen, professional gamers, artists, and soldiers. What they all have in common is a similar change in their professional life – they lost interest in what they had previously done, or in all traditional ways of life for that matter. They experienced disappointment, disillusion, they felt deluded, they opened their eyes – each of them describes it in their own way. In Marcin Przybyłek’s books the main protagonist - Torkil Aymore - couldn’t force himself to keep working as a doctor, and the job of a toy seller exposed him to the grime of late 22nd-century business. Major Duncan Powers lost his body on the training ground and started using a military mobrium, which his wife could not handle and left him, taking their daughter with her. Vivien Lacroix, as a journalist dealing with upper-class gossip, ruined several people’s lives. Max Romanov rejected the superficiality of show business, took up cage fighting, and started working as a gamedec.

69a99e43fb68e4b531b25e4e22b602ce_original.png

We could go on and on.

Living on the border of reality, a gamedec ceases to make arbitrary distinctions of what is real and what is not.

“Everything I experience is real, so it doesn’t make any difference if some of the stimuli reaching my brain come from a computer,” Sam Hawthorne would say.

That’s what most gamedecs think. And they add Sam’s famous credo: “The past is a memory; the future is imagination. All that exists is the present, an infinitely thin line between one and the other. What if that line has no thickness at all? Then we just don’t exist! All that’s left is pure, crystalline thought.”

To be a gamedec, you need a high communication intelligence, a knack for seeing and hearing subtle signals in the interlocutor’s communication, especially those that reveal what the speaker consciously doesn’t want to express. A gamedec must be able to reject presumptions, to think creatively, askew, sometimes in a crazy way, because they are needed where standard reasoning fails.

Surprisingly, hackers or developers do not often become gamedecs as they usually lack the aforementioned communications intelligence. Still, gamedecs do need help from someone who knows how to code. These helpers do not have a name of their own but ask any gamedec, and they will admit knowing a person that supports them when they need to delve into the world of Chi-Tong ideograms.

Like with any freelancing profession that doesn’t require robust verification (as to become a gamedec, you only need to pay for the license, pass psychological tests, and buy the necessary equipment), a lot of people calling themselves gamedecs cannot deal with even the simplest of puzzles.

765f9beda76af6bbb41ed88260b61b6e_original.png

This undermines the prestige of the profession.

Gamedecs (the real ones) are valued by gamers, clans, and corporations in the game development business. Other professional groups only have a vague idea of what a gamedec does, and many think it’s one of the worst jobs there are as it brings neither pension nor esteem. “It’s a job for misfits, people who lost their way, for castaways like me” Hawthorne would say.

If you decide to become a gamedec, don’t be surprised if someone scoffs or sneers at what you do.

Well, not everyone can understand your logic, and life is not a puzzle, is it?

Codex Update (13): Game Mechanics: PROFESSIONS

e429f45d5a64191b25a679db0e506039_original.png

Hi There, everyone!

Last week we started a series of articles about the game mechanics. The first one describing Aspects (which you can read HERE!) ended with a sort of cliff-hanger on the Professions. So, without further ado, take a quick look at professions and how you can evolve the character during your playthrough.

Every gamedec has a story to tell about a life they once had. Every one of them has a background that shifts the way they see the world and defines their approach to problem-solving. It’s like second nature - sometimes long forgotten, other times locked away like a bad dream.

This is how professions work in our game – on the mechanical level they define character progress, on a narrative one – they help you flesh-out details about your gamedec’s past.

edba78239a81d5c1990434f3f28f4db1_original.gif

When navigating the profession tree – you can as usually, choose whether you are a focused expert, brilliant in one chose field or rather a jack of all trades, master of none. The latter gives you specific freedom of approach when dealing with day-to-day challenges of medium difficulty. Still, it might be impossible to tackle complicated situations – you won't be in control anymore, left with a need to improvise and hope for the best.

For example, let's say you have a pack of three bottom tier professions, like Influencer, Medic, and Technician. That would allow you to work your natural charisma to manipulate people around, find hidden data caches that belong to virtualia designers, and give someone a CPR. But if you were to invest fully in the News-related branch (that is: go from Influencer to Journalist, Reporter and finally a Swapper), you would become a real information-broker. You have a press pass, own informants, ability to install and disable micro-cameras, and an inhuman ability to find your way into any database.

On the other hand – being an expert in a specific path lets you thrive in some environments but leaves you somewhat awkward in others. Not every case can be solved only by your vast knowledge of Chi-Tong - a programming language based on ideograms, allowing you to hack the hell out of everything, sometimes you might need to be able to perform a field operation or use the strength of your muscles.

2d90a5e7d2145fce27dbba91ee5735b6_original.gif

What you might find difficult, as a player, is to resist temptations – since you are retro-actively defining your background, we allow you to unlock professions mid-interactions. During a dialogue with a character, you will see profession-specific choices, even those you did not choose, and – if you have aspects needed – you can unlock at that very moment.

Will you resist the urge to gain the upper hand and stay true to your original plan for gamedec’s background, or will you allow circumstances to form your past?

The choice is yours, and you are a sum of your choices.

What do you think about professions? Would you like to know more about them?

Codex Update (14): Another Stretch Goal Unlocked! Results of the New Virtualium Poll!

91924b1215c08f2b604e323bc87b9ed1_original.png

We are now over 230% of our initial goal – Another milestone for our Kickstarter campaign. There are also over 3200+ backers already! That's a massive number of people who believe in our project!

Reaching this mark means that the French and Spanish (text-wise translation) will be available during Launch! If you are speaking one of those languages – you will be able to choose your native one at the release of the game; hence you will be able to play text-wise in English, Polish, Russian, Chinese (simplified), German, French, and Spanish!

b735a0f092f2759fb4ac269244bdf4be_original.png

We are in the middle of the campaign – there are still 14 days left to the finish line, and we are not stopping! Thank you for your unceasing support, many comments, retweets, and shares.

In the last update about Stretch Goals, we gave you a chance to decide which virtualium should be added next via an exclusive survey – that one came with the "time limit" of reaching out to the current funded stretch goal. It's time for the results of the poll!

CTHULHU

"This place has only three exits, sir: Madness and Death."

- Rene Daumal

They say there is a virtualium that can make one mad. That somewhere in the small port town, every shadow hides a whisper, and every whisper knows a secret. If you look at a window – there will always be a pair of eyes looking right back at you. If you look at the lighthouse – you're sane mind will be blinded. The Old Ones claimed that town years ago, guarding secrets that might shake the very fabric of time and space. Or at least, so they say – no one achieved that while keeping their mind intact.

80e1b844472a0c186386d994f9814856_original.jpg

Over 70% of the people who voted decided that they are interested in the virtualium inspired by the H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Lore. We've also seen tons of comments around all our social media channels, and on the Kickstarter campaign as well about YOU wanting this particular Virtualium to solve a case in. What do you expect for this virtualium to offer in form of a case? Leave a comment! Of course, the result of the survey doesn't mean that this Virtualium will be added – To do that, we need to reach the stretch goal of 140k. Share the news about the upcoming virtual world, which may be available by you supporting our campaign and help us bring it to the Gamedecverse.

Hi There, everyone!

“...thousands and thousands of games, and hundreds of millions of players...” - In this short video, Marcin Przybyłek (The Author of the Gamedec Saga) will tell you a bit more about the constant battle between developers, players, and cheaters. He will also focus lightly on the story of Bruno - the most potent player in "Dream Space".

From now on, our social media and updates on Kickstarter will reveal some more information about the game, and the whole gamedec universe. Codex Update (16): Game Mechanics: Character Creation

5cf3aaf486aa0892c4af149618864147_original.png

Hi There, everyone!

It's time for another article about game mechanics. In this update, we will tell you something more about the Character Creation process.

There will be few moments more important in Gamedec than the one when the character creation window pops up. After all, this is the beginning of the journey, the moment when you decide on your backstory, and your appearance. Remember that your gamedec is a tabula rasa for you to draw upon. And it's your choice how you want to start this adventure.

62b88c877454b76a5a9631c567bff2bd_original.gif

In most games, character creation is a long and involved process. Players wanting to make the best choice about their stats needs to pore over pages and pages of options. It can take a lot of time and effort, so we wanted to address it differently.

The process of determining your background will begin with just a series of questions about you. A kind of a Voight-Kampff test, though the consequences of your answers might be a bit easier to predict, and the results of it will be your starting aspects. They're mostly focused on your past experiences, approaches in dealing with problems, and various preferences. After the assessment of your test, you will be given a set of aspects needed to unlock the professions we deemed fit for your playstyle.

15cfdb8b580f2cf367734bfca10c5c60_original.gif

In addition to being accessible, character creation in Gamedec is simple and straightforward. There are no equations for figuring out derived stats or dividing points on different statistics – Your choices are reflected by your aspects during the first part of the Character Creation.

The third step of the process is deciding on an avatar. In essence, you will be able to choose from few archetypes (e.g., noir detective), each having variants depicting different ethnicities and genders.

After selecting the ethnicity, gender, and avatar of your gamedec, the world is yours to explore, secret's yours to crack and character yours to further define with actions and words.

As you know, we've reached out to the Stretch goal of Additional Character Customization, which means that you will have five more skins to choose from. Some of them will be a classic addition to your character style; some of them will be something different.

e183e7bcd3caa5e2f154bbaf28d7b682_original.gif

What skins would you like to see? Write it down in the comments, maybe it'll inspire us to craft something unexpected!

You can also read previous updates about Aspects (HERE!) and Professions(HERE!)

We also have something special coming on Friday!

LESS THAN 7 DAYS TO GO!
We are in the final week of the campaign, but still have some time left, and we expect to reach the next stretch goal in no-time. Almost one month with you gave us the possibility to widely expand our project and create an amazing community that'll help us make Gamedec a better game.

Codex Update (18): Cthulhu Virtualium joins the Gamedecverse. Next Step: Partial Voice Overs!

bffae6f195721b650bb42b909f79bbef_original.png

Hi there, everyone!

We are shocked! With your help, we've reached the next stretch goal! Now we can confirm that the Cthulhu Virtualium (selected via poll by our community and backers) will join the roster of gamedecverse virtual worlds with Low City, Harvest Time, Twisted & Perverted, virtualium based on Seven: The Days Long Gone and others! That's over 4000 backers and 280% of the goal we've wanted to fund in this campaign initially.

80e1b844472a0c186386d994f9814856_original.jpg

Cthulhu Virtualium Unlocked – you will solve a case in the world filled with darkness, madness, and tentacles (maybe!). Who knows what are you going to see? Set your imagination free with this one, and try to guess in the comments. Remember - those who get closest to the truth – don't wake up as themselves anymore. They belong to the Abyss. Broken.

We are only six days before the campaign ends, and we are still getting a lot of love, support, and passion from all of you! Thank you for your unceasing support, many comments, retweets, and shares – we appreciate every one of them!

The next Stretch Goal is something many of you have asked for a long time - Partial Voice Overs!

070055042372a935013a5cd539666f45_original.png

Each NPC will have a set of vocalized lines to understand their personality and attitude better. Not all dialogues will be recorded, but this will give you an insight into the nature of the NPC with which you interact. Like in old school RPGs - sometimes it will take a few sentences or just one specific word to know what kind of the person you are going to interact with.

Intrigued? We need your help to reach the next stretch goal of 170k to make it happen. Share the link to the campaign with your friends – let people know about our game!

Watch our Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube channel for more. If you'd like to talk with our team members, or want to ask a question to the Author of the Gamedecverse (Marcin S. Przybyłek) or chat with other backers - join our Discord channel.
