What software would you recommend for video recording games?

OBS, it's free and has the least overhead for a software driven recorder. Keep in mind that you're always going to lose part of your CPU's power to a software based recorder so if you don't have a beefy system you can expect slowdowns, stutters, and sometimes outright crashes. You'll probably need to mess with the settings a lot to get something smooth. I used to use Bandicam and still do occasionally since it hooks into modern games easier, but it doesn't seem to be as fast as it used to be.
