So you want to pay more for the same product? Got it, you're stupid, that's all you had to say in the first place.

If you've got internet to post here, there's really no reason you can't use Steam and the RAM consumption should only bother you if you're running a PC with less than 2GB RAM, which nobody who is serious about gaming does nowadays. Steam might be DRM, but it's not near as inconvenient as people make it out to be. If your internet goes down it's still got a fully functional offline mode so you can play the games (just like if you downloaded it from GoG) and even if the Steam service goes down you can keep downloading your games because the Steam servers and the content servers are separate.

I'm not saying anyone is wrong for not wanting to use Steam, that's entirely their choice, but I do find it odd because the reasons given usually date back to a mentality people had pre-2007. This is 2013. Internet and RAM requirements shouldn't be an issue for all but the most backwards countries and/or people. We don't all have dial-up and pentium 4s with 512mb RAM anymore.

Products? Steam doesn't sell products, they sell a service; a license to play a game.
Buying from GOG you get a product; a copy of the game.
The difference may be too subtle for you you notice, though.

You're getting a license in both cases. It's not actually legal to sell somebody a USB thumbdrive with a game you downloaded from GOG on it.

GOG sells the source code to each game you buy?

DRM is just about convenience, it's also about game preservation.

Which part of "a copy of the game" did you fail to comprehend, Mr. Strawman?

Derp. I suppose the same is true for Populous II's Challenge Games expansion, which seems to be very obscure

Ghost Recon too, I think. Not that I care.

Actually for fuck's sake we need the sequels to those games too.

You understand most of the old games from steam can be run directly from the executable without steam even launching, right? Of course you don't, you're an idiot.

Big day for GOG - EA expansions, two releases (both adventures!), and the return of the weekly videos.

JudasIscariot When are you fine folks announcing the winners for the oldest fags contest from yesterday? I noticed a new giveaway started but there wasn't a list of the previous days winners. Pretty sure I had the max age date and was in the top 100 first responders. Where MA MONIES???

    I quote:

"You have time until tomorrow, that's Tuesday, October 1, at 2:59PM GMT to enter the giveaway"

As far as announcing the winners goes, it depends on how long it takes to process everything. Usually a few days after the contest ends.
