I uninstalled Sanitarium; each and every time I launched the game, it BSOD'd my system.

Have you tried using compatibility mode?I remember that helped with the crashes years ago when I played it,mayby it will help with this problem too
Yes I did; BSOD even as an emulated XP system. I have not yet tried SCumVM as suggested above.

Sanitarium came out in 97 or 98 so it's older than xp,win95/98 compatibility mode would be a better choice

Even so... Gog sells it (granted they just had it on giveaway last week).
It shouldn't BSOD a recent Windows OS, much less do it repeatably—or they shouldn't be offering it [yet]; no?

I do plan to try it out on my Win10 tablet.

Dude what are you even doing? You're wasting your time. Play it on ScummVM. It is a platform that is specifically coded for each individual title. You won't get a better performance anywhere else outside of an old Windows 98 PC from 20+ years ago.

PS: Win 10 is junk for playing old games.

I have Windows 98 PCs from 20+ years ago; with CRTs... but I doubt GoG's version will run on Win98. I plan to use scummVM. I have used it before with other titles.

*I still plan to test it on my win10 tablet though; to see if it works as advertised.

GOG states:
Works on:
Windows (7, 8, 10, 11)

Kind of hard to answer as it's most likely a specific issue with your specific setup, if it was BSODing everyones computer it would be a different story. Making some ideological stand to avoid using scummvm because "it's supposed to work" is a strange austistic hill to die on.

I agree, their version seems to be buggy, like I said I faced a problem with crashes years ago when I played it,they should have patched it but it seems they haven't

For what it's worth, I didn't really have any issues playing GOG Sanitarium on Windows 7 about a year ago. Had a single crash during the Aztec section towards the end and that was about it.

I'm happy to see some of the comments that appreciate our collab with Gayming, and truly hope we won't have to lock this thread. I believe that even those of you that are not overly excited about this editorial still agree with me on the fact that gaming is for everyone.

You may not agree with this selection of games. You may not agree with why someone likes them (for example, for their LGBTQIA+ representation), and that is absolutely fine, but some people do and want to express that. It all really comes down to respect. A kind request to stay civil, everyone.
