I'm pretty well played in the genre and can't remember a single JRPG where you actually kill God in the end (maybe in megaten games, but I never finished a single one). I feel like this is a kind of a meme that got out of control, like that one time when normies decided that when a door doesn't open from this side is a Souls invention.
