If they do release an english version in europe before releasing it to the us the torrents will be burning, though.

Why? So you can get essentially the same version only one with possibly some silly censorship?

SR2 didn't have any "silly censorship" and I was able to get SR2 from gogamer about 3-4 months before a NA release was available. So if one wants Gothic 3 in october and is not willing to obtain it through not-so-legal means, gogamer imports are a decent choice

I don't understand what you mean. If I wanted silly censorship, I'd have bought Indigo Prophecy instead of Fahrenheit.

Since Gothic is a German game, I don't see what censorship you'd expect in the uk version that wouldn't be present in the NA version.

I thought there were indications early on that the "European" version would have both English and German voiceover, with English subtitles available for the German. Anyone remember this?

And please tell me they got the original Diego back.

I'm glad they pushed back the release date from their previous ETA in September. It still sounds like they have a lot of stuff that needs to be done b/c recent estimates placed them at about 85% complete.

Censorship cuts both ways. Europe is far more prudish when it comes to violence and certain "free speech" type stuff (for example, no Nazi symbols). In America, we are far more prudish about nudity and sexuality. The European version is probably the better bet in terms of censorship, as its being made for that market first. Later markets will have "quick and crude" fixes if they need to censor anything out.

If God of War got away with titties and a threesome mini-game, I don't see how bad the sexual content in 3 will be considering that cutscene where the hero does the nasty with that dock hooker. Or was that scene clothed?

Jack Thompson is actually waiting for these naughty sexual content-filled games to start racking up so he can use them as an excuse that video games are the work of the devil.

Gothic censorship : what was censored

In fact censorship for Gothic 1 & 2 were :

Gothic 1:
- No band group song in US/UK releases, only in german (not really censored but licence for german market only)
- Gomez' wife was wearing a bikini in the US release when taking her bath, and in UK/german release she was COMPLETELY naked

Gothic 2:
- bitch sequence was deleted in US release (I think), but was there in the UK/german release

I might be wrong, but I think that's it.

don't forget to get the UK release instead of the US release of Gothic 3, or you'll miss the ORC GANGBANG !

LOL

Gothic 3 does not exist. Gothic 3 does not exist. Gothic 3 does not exist. Gothic 3 does not exist. Gothic 3 does not exist. Gothic 3 does not exist.

Waaah! I give up. Maybe I'll give it a try if someone mods the main character to look like Orlando Bloom or Michael Shanks.
