Thanks for the reply, in terms of NPC's, I read somewhere that is good to keep an empty slot for a possible NPC recruit, is this legit or it doesn't matter?

I ran with 8 girls in my first party but then later on got to a quest where a king wanted me to rescue his daughter, but couldn't do the quest cause I needed a free party slot to recruit her in the dungeon I freed her from and bring her back.

So leaving a slot free for temporary members is a good idea.

Not really, unless you want more of a challenge with one less party member. There are only a few places where you get a temporary party member and the original can be put into the party again at the Shrine of the Raptor.
