Up way, way past my bedtime.
Project: Eternity
The historical irony of this thread is awesome. Anyway, what made the beta you guys played so much fun, and more importantly, more fun than the Wizardries?

Well, Grimoire was pretty much *the* Wizardry 8 were it (Wiz8) released in 95 as originally intended.

I didn't like the Wiz8 engine at all. Running in FPS-style 3d, spotting and trying to avoid encounters, waiting for hours for enemies to move, bleh. I prefer walking over square grids with enemies popping up from nowhere any day.

Why don't you search this forum for a link and try an old beta for yourself?

Anyway Basilisk Games of Eschalon fame have hinted that they have a Wizardry-style game in pre-production phase, so there is at least something to look forward to.

And I believe its going to be a sci-fi setting. Not a huge fan of sci-fi RPG's but I will still play it im sure.

So, can you link to the place where they announced that game? I'm interested.

mondblut: I prefer wiz 8 becuase you can actually see your opponents and npc's on screen; they don't just pop out of nowhere. I HATE that.
