I'm surprised they paid enough attention to nail the vibe of things like the map screen yet somehow managed to miss that a large part of the appeal of HoMM3 is in its classical painterly aesthetic.

I fail to see the relevancy. HOMM3 tournaments are a whole another ball game (game design wise). No one at NWC thought HOMM3 is gonna become an esport in Poland after 20 years. Just like no one expected Starcraft to be one in Korea. Focus on making a good SP game first (and campaign) - but it's highly doubtful they will.

yeah honestly going for esports is kinda retarded

there are some cheeses that I like to be removed because it's fundamentally unfun in SP (as scenarios will be made with them in mind like "hardcore" Homm3 scenarios) or MP like pinging resource node with 1 monster army, town portal abuse bullshits which are meta gamey even in SP. But trying to focus on balanced MP is not really it

The spooky season has come to an end, and we wanted to take this chance to present our Necropolis faction in its full glory gore'y.
Though the special place in our hearts belongs to a VAMPIRE that we are revealing for the first time, grave diggers, wraith and necro-doggos are also worth noting, as well as their special abilities.

Hope you enjoy our little experiment!

Reaaaally poor art direction unfortunately. I know 2-3's level is completely unattainable, but this series really can't catch a break ever since 4 dropped.

The names of some of the units and abilities remind me of the early stages of Black Geyser (although they obviously have a hard time topping the Crushmaster).

Same here. I have no idea why they go for such a childish art style when most of the people that have some nostalgy left for the series are at least 30+

And those names ... Seems like they are just outright trolling. "Lord Rufus", "Funerella" and "Marl". Jesus. Oh wait, Laura also wants a have a word with you!

In a way franchise resurrection always has the idea of both appealing to oldfags while trying to make newfags also play your game and I guess they choose this modern cartoon fantasy/WoW style to appeal to newer player

From my understanding all of the HoMM-like Ubisoft games since HoMM V has that WoW style look, so it's not something new under the sun.

Looks better than the last few HoMM entries, but worse than the first ones.
So I guess that's .... improvement?
yea i think it's better than homm5+ but 1-3 mog it, 4 is debatable
the fucking city screens are a war crime, though.

the femdev has great tits tho

Feels like a mobile game artstyle, seems like the monkey paw wish you get when you ask for artstyle over graphical fidelity. There's nothing really bad about it, but I do think the artists like the "carrying stuff on back" design way too much. The new death knight design is awful though. Looking at the battle scene, I think the units might be a bit too small to individualize on the battlefield, which could be a problem.
The units seem like they're going to be interesting though. The liches can raise dead now, which sounds like it could make them very useful. Liking the one which has the ability to attack a tile away, like the pikemen in 4. Looks like it might actually be worth playing if Ubisoft doesn't try to be Ubisoft and make it only playable through Uplay or whatever.
