Hey, can we have some better banners?

Free Spongebob Screensaver?
Free celeb desktop?
Free Supermario flash game?

WTF?

I don't appreciate this mockery of my manhood. How about something more indicative of the Codex hive mind, like "Free Spikey Rapestick [TM] Baton Sex Toy"?

Y'know, when I saw the banner for Swapday, I thought it was an ad for some porn site where the pornstars involved would just... Swap stuff.

I agree.

A

"NWN IS THE BEST GAME EVAR!"

and

"BIO RULES ALL!"

banners would be both truthful and awesome.

Personally I would like to hear the Horst Wessel song sung loudly and proudy to the lametations of desperate woman and infants. If that can't be done, I'd like to see some vaseline banners to complement the copious ass fucking and butt licking around here.

You take what you can get. All the gaming advertising goes to GameSpot and IGN and a few huge related sites. There's no way for independent gaming sites to get any worthwhile gaming advertising but through sheer luck here and there. It's a shame, because with some decent relevant advertising we could pay off all the bills and have enough left over for upgrades or whatever else instead of having to ask for donations.

I think my favorites would have to be the Xbox360 one and the Scooter Store.

Can we get rid of these fucking american express flash banners? They keep doing that annoying drop down shit and freezing up the page.

Ha. I was just gonna contemplating saying something. I'm sitting here trying to type, and the floater box keeps jumping all around the screen, and I lose focus in the window I'm typing in.

Its one of the more invasive advert banners I've ever seen. Go to blues or voodooextreme for example, and you get large sidebar banners, that if you hover over them, the banner unfolds...but this shit follows you around the page after undocking.

That and when you switch pages, the undocked banner stays, and when you close it on the preceding page, it gives me a script error.

Tell me about it. It's like it's trying to attack you are something.

I click on the banners to generate hits, and having a banner that folds out when you hover over it is not bad, but this is just insane.

I'll get it removed. Next time some invasive advertising like that shows up, send me a PM so I can tell the advertising provider to remove it ASAP.

Thank goodness. I completely appreciate the need for a revenue channel, but not at the cost of visitor patience.

Smarter marketing people than I probably know otherwise, but you'd think that those pop-up ads would actually annoy consumers away from the products by the sheer audacity of the act. As a user, you're trying to have a particular experience, and then up pops an advert in your face over and over again. You're not thinking "wicked, I should check this out". Rather its the affect this AmEx ad had here, so why do they do it?

Anyway, thanks Taluntain. :)
