since vincke doesn't actually answer the question "why kickstarter?" that leaves me to conclude that he is just in it to milk some fanbois off their money.

Isn't that what fanboys are for?

Swen Vincke seems like a cool and composed guy. I say we send Prosper and watch Vincke break down like a little girl in the dark.

Yeah, but that's not too unusual, is it? FTL was done and needed money to expand a bit. Akaneiro too is basically done and going to come out anyway, still went to Kickstarter. "Kickfinisher", I think Biscuit calls it.

It's dodgy in Akaneiro's case since that's a free-to-play (and I'm surprised it even made it), but I don't know if I would object to it in principle. People get a cheap preorder and they get to add stuff. Win-win. But if it's not needed, it is a decision that shouldn't be taken lightly, and obviously he isn't, it just got a bit misreported.

Your ignore list.
Or perhaps we should send Chefe.

Swen:And over here, Bryce, you can see our PR team working hard to make our next game known to a wilder target audience. We also have a lot of our guys scouring the internet, trying to identify what people want on their games so that we can improve our own.
Chefe:Who is Bryce?
Swen:Erhmm.... your name, it's Bryce, is it not?
Chefe:No. I'm Chefe.
Swen:Oh, ok "Chefe". I'm sorry for that. Anyway, what do you think of our PR team.
Chefe:Looks like they don't have a clue on what your game is about. Why not fire them all and hire some proper talented RPG developers?
Swen:*surprised*... but... we have a lot of talented developer working on our game already. Maybe this will sound strange to a hardcore RPG gamer as yourself, Chefe, but to develop a game we need to invest a considerable amount of effort in making it known to others, as well as understanding what our player base wants to experience in them.
KnightRider:Who is Chefe?
Swen:What?! You're Chefe, you've just said it yourself.
KnightRider:No. I'm KnightRider.
Swen:But... you just said it your name is Chefe...
KnightRider:*expressionless look*
Swen:...ok... So, like I was saying, we cannot channel all of our resources to the development team alone. Building games is a complex process that needs a lot of diversification into several areas, like public relations.
KnightRider:It just sounds like a load of bullshit to me. If you want to make a good game, you give the jewgold to the hard working guys that waste their whole weekends programming pages upon pages of source code, which they actually had to expend a considerable amount of their lives studying, instead of sending some bozos to gaming conventions where they can't say anything else other than how awesome their new game (which they know nothing about) is compared to all the other crap being shown.
Swen:NO! KnightRider, you don't have any clue on how gaming is done these days!
FretRiderWho is KnightRider?
Swen:WHAT THE FU****.?! DUDE, YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING ME! YOU are KnightRider! You said it when I called you Chefe, which you said was your name after I called you as Bryce! Stop with this nonsense or this tour over our company is over.
FretRiderAre you a Christian, Swen?
Swen:What sort of question is that?! And what is your fucking name?
FretRiderI'm FretRider, but this is besides the point. Are you a God fearing man, Swen? Answer me truthfully.
Swen:Ok, this is it. I'm signing you out of this building for good now, mr. FretRider.
Bryce:My name is Bryce, you imbecile.
Swen:o_O

If someone does actually go, a codex fundraiser for their KS will follow. Nothing is free.

Last gameplay video of Original Sin I watched looked pretty good though. I'm actually looking forward to it a fair bit.

I guess this will teach RPGWatch not to give awards to game studios.

Specifically, the RpgCodex forums, your daily antidote to thinking you’re getting anywhere in the world of CRPGs, unless your name happens to be Chris Avellone.

Codex 2013: Prestigiousness rising

How is he milking money if he's selling the game at a lower price? Methinks it's mostly just to sell the game at a cheaper price to people who are on the fence with the game or who normally wouldn't buy it at the normal price. Normally Steam sales are for that, but I guess going with KS will give Larian a bigger cut.

I envy whoever is chosen to be our champion. Belgians make good beer, and Larian has a history of using it in their best interests acccording to the documentary included with Divinity Anthology.

Weirdly enough, I've never been to Larian, and they're right around the corner.
Spreek je vlaams?

Nou ja. Vlaams... Nederlands! Geboren en getogen.
I see, the difference between Dutch and Flemish is indeed very little :)

Hey, watt iss med Plautdietsch? Det hebben wi ooch.

My grandmother spoke Plattdütsch with me, which is very similar to Dutch (that I can understand to a certain degree).
But we shouldn't drive this thread too far off-topic with those linguistical excursions.

Also it's true. The RPGCodex is basically a free focus testing group. :salute: Helps save money in what is no doubt a scant budget!

Fun update. Swen's ranting ways are always fun.
Hmm...somehow I had you pegged as a brotato...
Anyway: Brother None'd be the most qualified choice, but he's kinda a double agent, is he not.
Gragt, Trash (or Grunker) would also be suitable choices IMO, who might be convinced to take this quest upon them.

Scheiße, das Platt verstehe ohne weiteres. Das Flämisch auch, aber wahrscheinlich nur weil die Frage so kurz ist und beim Holländisch schon nur noch die Hälfte.../derail *choochoooo*
