Hibernaculum Development Update - March 2025​


Greetings Hibernians!

Welcome once more, one and all, to the horrors of the depths...

Also - the horrors of sitting on these updates for WAY too long hehe! Anyway - pleasantries out of the way let's get into where were at because wow has it been a busy burly bombastic start to the year!

Our Hiber Engine is now complete.

Yeah - could pretty much just stop right there.

We have completed what I - deep down - worried at times may be impossible...

But it turns out it was just highly improbable, or something! So our engine is fully working as we build the levels out now. Quest lines are being constucted. Lore emplaced. Role playing firing on all cylinders and best of all the game manages to surprise and entertains it's creator(s) which I think is something pretty important to the whole project - after all I did start this game way back to satisfy first and foremost my desire for simply playing it myself. I kind of needed this to exist I just never figured you'd all be along with me for the ride. Kinda makes it a lot more fun TBH. Not to mention literally possible with your support and funding.

So. On with the show then perhaps?

What do we have here hmm;

  • Character Generator complete with all adjusters etc & starting item systems
  • Irradiation system fully implemented
  • Multiple "sub modules" fully implemented - Geiger Counter, Tracking Device etc
  • New weapon system type "Particle Beam Spears" implemented

    Now, I have forgotten some of what we updated last time so I'll just rack off what we've been working on alonf the way as well;'
  • All medical items and energy (TECH skill) items and item creation implemented
  • Most "dungeons" implemented - barring full testing and some balancing
  • Multiple BODY & ROLE play throughs/testing currently successfully underway by our dedicated testing team
  • More weapon FX, sound FX and music added
  • New bosses/boss battle system implemented/tested (the Varitron notably)
  • Guide Book & Encyclopaedia Hibernacula graphics underway
  • "Town Hubs" implemented/testing underway
  • New enemy types/behaviour systems implemented/testing
  • Encumbrance system fully implemented
  • Most CHAR GEN portrait generation element asset load complete (we actually want to add more based on feedback too) plus all CHAR GEN visual/UI animations (whooee that took a while!)
  • A lot more stuff - really literally too much to mention if I'm going to get back into the build with our Coder tonight (we have some interesting Deep Deck Realm plans underway hehe) so again without further ado here's a medley of the work/testing in visual form for you to peruse!

A tracking module can help you detect enemy movements before they set upon you... But will you find the module itself? Answer; yes of course probably I mean it's pretty neat we're not going to hide it or anything... Maybe ;)

so, how did the crippled limbs effect you here? i watched half and skipped through the rest and didnt really get a sense of that mechanics relevance

Since you openly admitted you're not here to talk about games, how is the trial going? Or did you discuss this with your wife/lawyer/accountant and decided to not go through with the lawsuit? Did you at least get your car back?

Just some of my first personal thoughts on what appears to be a rather worrying development in the field of Mutoid Creation - which of course ties into the subject matter at hand when it comes to our RPG flagship title Hibernaculum. ;)

Never was about a "lawsuit" nor did I threaten one - I just wanted some transparency/accountability for the Primordia Publishing Contract signed solely by Gilbert & myself.

You yanks only used that word "lawsuit" here. You guys always think in terms of money, and sueing. I find it a bit silly - I was told by Mark many many times Dave was stealing.

Dave never sent details and always paid me late/early or not at all in one case early on it now seems.

I just asked for sales data and dev tags - I was maybe expecting some skimming?

What I got was utter mania. Masses upon masses of vitriol (from Mark) and all Dave's refusals based - I must assume - solely on MRY's pernicious manipulation and vast swathes of lies and "ego stroking" & "exploiting" people - as Mark puts it.

Not my words, again. Like that lawsuit word you all kept using. I might have mentioned that as an option when asked on social media after they all defamed me at length - but I certainly did not threaten that in any way and I'm gonna stop repeating myself now re this minor, erroneous (and dilatory) point. It's tiring.

First of all, I am not a "yank". You also wrote this:

So excuse me that I assumed you "sold your car to help pay for lawyer", because you were thinking about going to court (people usually don't sell their cars in order to get themselves a lawyer), after all this talk about contracts and courts. Well, I guess you aren't getting that car back then.

...Mate - you gotta ask yourself. - why on earth would it be worth it to spend that - if there was nothing REALLY bad to hide?

Yes.

I am a dimwit and barely even a contractor for Primordia.

Mark is the "all-builder" as he likes people to call him in public.

In private - during actual development of the game (the process itself of actually designing and making Primordia that actually mattered) we had a quite a different lingo for our roles on the project, for instance;

I used to be the "artist/coder/boss" for Primordia and WWS.

Or Mark would often call me the visionary too.

Never in public though. I mean - I did design everything Mark used to write his quips & ideas from ie the world and characters before I brought him on board so THESE titles make sense. But dimwit?

Actually - yeah. That too. I was a dimwit for not seeing all that was going on around me after release - the subtle, pernicious yet entirely hostile takeover by MRY of everything I had built from the ground up; the first Wormwood Studios company creed I wrote outlining my vision for the studio I was about to lay the foundations of, & all my original Primordia designs & ideas set out on paper. Not to mention the original prototype build in AGS of Primordia.

I fought Mark HARD to keep my "no arm" design of Crispin - we developed his personality from my design. That I had to FIGHT Mark on...

But noone knows that do they?

Even Mark seems to have conveniently forgotten the entirety of production after it hit shelves - when it comes to my role.

I WROTE a lot of the early dialogue too - before Mark began excising it.

But those original designs and ideas for my games and the future of my work was all made before Mark contacted me to join my game project.

So yeah I was a dimwit - but Mark's sidekick? Well not really.
