Didn't see anyone talking about it.

Not surprised by this, he seems to have taken a more business-oriented role at Platinum over the past couple years and I wouldn't be surprised if he rejoins Capcom or starts up his own studio with NetEase/Tencent money to start making his own games again.

I'm surprised. Sounds like some kind of internal disagreement based on how he's worded his tweet.

platinum got kinda poopy last couple of years, smart of him to jump the sinking ship
Will be interesting to see what he can do. Although he hasn't made a great game in 20 years. (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney − Trials and Tribulations (2004))

he could probably run some kickstarter like igarashi did, the question is if he even wants to make games anymore or has any good ideas

This on came out of left field
But it shouldn't be surprising as he hasn't made a game in almost 14 years (Bayo 1 came out in 28 October 2009)

If that's the case then it something that goes back to Scalebound's shitcanning
But imo what most likely is that he has tired of being a corpo suit, the man is a game dev at heart and he's been out of the game too long

Don't let Matthewmatosis hear you say that, or he'll join the Codex just so he can write a 10000 word reply post on how the Wonderful 101 is the best game of the 2010's
Also no love for Okami?
I haven´t played Okami, although the art seems very nice. For some reason I find hard to play games with animal or monster controllable characters.

In party RPGs I have to force myself to put non human races team members, and just for gameplay reasons.

Prob cause all he can do at Platinum is make more Bayonetta games.
Ironic, because Kamiya is the only one who didn't want to make more Bayonetta games (in fact, he has never been very involved on sequels to his games). His only role in Bayo 2 & 3 was writing the shitty story and handing it off to someone else to implement.

Also I'm glad about this news. Platinum has been a dead studio for 10 years. Their games since Kamiya stopped directing have had really shitty and boring gameplay, with the only stand out titles getting the spotlight for other reasons (Nier the external director, and MGR the cutscene/character design and writing, both of which weren't done by platinum).

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
What have they been working on lately? Babylon Falls and Bayo 3? Not exactly the most thrilling place to work.

Phil Spencer recently said that Xbox gamers should look forward to more Japanese triple-A exclusives. Today we hear Kamiya is leaving Platinum. I do wonder if there's a connection.
It'll be interesting to see where he goes. Back to Capcom, perhaps? Nintendo? Or maybe he'll do something similar to what Toshihiro Nagoshi has done.

Hopefully goes back to Capcom which is going through a new golden-ish era, or sets up his own studio. Microsoft is too much of a wildcard and would mean a non-zero risk of losing him forever to GaaS crap like with Rare.

He's too addicted to xitter to even make games anymore. Twitter and its consequences have been a disaster for the game developer race.
