So I've sunk a few hours into this past few days (still in Seyda Neen)
I understand taking things slowly, immersing in gameworld etc, but what the fuck can anyone do in Seyda Neen for few hours? : |

People don't want to admit it, but Skyrim is the best Elder Scrolls game by a mile. Morrowind and Oblivion is trash compared to it and there is not much reason to experience those 2 games after experiencing Skyrim. Yes, Skyrim dumbed down a lot of things, but who the freak plays Elder Scrolls games for the RPG?

Of course you don't, you play TES for the lorefaggotry, which incidentally is weaksauce bland shit in Oblivion and Skyrim.

Tax Collector, Ring, Vodunius, Hiding Spot, Addamasartus, Samarys. Each of these have potential to eat up about an hour of game time, especially if you don't rest while waiting on hiding spot. As they said they'd played a few hours. I'd guess they've done a few of these. Maybe even all of them. Yeah you can rush through some if you know exactly what you are doing, but for a fresh player.

Morrowind as a whole is PACKED with content. Seyda Need isn't even the densest it's packed. Even small nowhere towns have extensive questlines. *cough ahnasi cough*

Also now I really want to play Morrowind. Fuck.

EDIT: Downloading at around 10MB per second. Fucking hell, can download Morrowind in literally a minute.

I know, but dude made it clear that it's not his first playthrough, hence I'm wondering what can eat up so many hours in Seyda, assuming you're not doing some demented LARP.

Ah durr, I didn't read the thread honestly, because it's 4 AM, I just kinda stared at it, and then wrote that post. Dunno then, maybe he's doing the crappy Morrowind Dungun gameplay loop. That's about the only thing better in Vanilla Skyrim compared to Morrowind.

Two hours flew by. Did a little bit of chatting, looting & immersing as you say, did the little wood-elf quest, fought through that nearby dungeon (took a while, playing as a stealth-mage & died a fair few times) and then spent a bit more time leveling up speechcraft & theiving after that.

Got this bad Morrowind nostalgia and decided to try my GOG version, other than the various tweaks like the unofficial patches and a few mods I plan to keep this as vanilla as possible... I am still on the fence over some texture packs and even Better Heads
Normally I have a very good pack of older mods on a hard drive at home bit I am not there right now so older mods are a bit hard to find
Dont mind dealing with the leveling tango but I wanted to get a mod that required 15 points instead or 10 for level ups and find some of Connary’s textures

Morrowwind holds the record with me for the most times I started to play an RPG with the intention of completing it and I just can't muster up the interest to get past the first 10 minutes. I think 5 times... 5 attempts.

When modding Morrowind I give up fairly easily... and yet, here I am, modding New Vegas, and I'm not tired at all. When I mod Morrowind, my brain already makes up a playthrough in my head and I know everything that is going to happen. Ironically, even though New Vegas is the RPG I know the most like the back of my head, my brain is able to reset itself so that I don't think about what's going to happen during a playthrough, letting me enjoy it as if it was the first time.

Bethesda, Obsidian and the modding community are a match made in heaven.

Modding FONV was a blast. I don't think I ever enjoyed anything in RPGs more than playing mad scientist adventurer collecting body parts and electronics and creating my little entourage of cyborg frankenhumans & monster mashes that followed behind me obediently as I went adventuring. That huge group of gargantuan poisonous spiders and other insect baddies up ahead (courtesy of Marten's Monster Mods)? No problem. My cyber-deathclaws will soon be lubing their parts with your blood! And my cyber-pitbull? Sic 'em, boy! SIC 'em! And afterwards, my walking cyber-safes to store your dead body parts in to make MORE cyber-buddies. Muhahahaha!

Got this bad Morrowind nostalgia
so uh, what exactly are you nostalgic for?

ugly graphics?

wikipedia npcs?

boredom?

disappointment?

the awkward window into bethesda employees' sexual fantasies?

do tell.

it's just the one employee, actually
which one? I mean, who was the guy that decided to make that one mage a pervert who fucked his own female clone "daughters"? who put the "kiss" quest in the mages guild? who was the guy who wrote the original "barbed penis" story in daggerfall (and then included it in an expansion pack for morrowind)? the rapey stories about Dagoth Ur? that one daedra that threatens to rape the player's corpse? who is the guy behind shoehorning cannibalism into every bethesda IP?

I mean, I guess there are some obvious answers, but I am genuinely curious.

I'm going to take a guess and say that 90% of the weird/sexual shit is Michael Kirkbride. A lot of it is inspired by eastern mythology. Marilyn Wasserman, a beta tester for Daggerfall, wrote The Real Barenziah.

Just read a wikipedia plot summary and pretend you played it like everyone else here does.
