how to view alerts properly

So it came to my attention that reason I stop watching some threads is that while alert is generated, I can't view it.
For there is limit of 25 alerts shown on drop down.
If I go to all alerts new ones arent marked. How can one view new stuff properly?

I can see that get request on https://rpgcodex.net/forums/account/alerts-popup returns more, am I to write my own way of grabbing fresh stuff?
