I'd rather we had VD back, along with a couple other active admins to balance out his recent tendencies to knee jerk ban people.
Tendencies?

You left out option D, hauling Rosh back from the deep Internet Abyss and giving him joint admin powers with VD. The arguments that will ensue between VD, DU and Rosh should there be a further falling out of this magnitude will so warm my heart.
Actually, Rosh and I have always seen eye-to-eye. I really liked that son of a bitch.

I voted A. VD tends to go off the handle (two warnings = flying off the handle, lulz) at posters who have a history of being lame rather than just anyone who makes a single unacceptable comment once upon a time.
Wrong.

Subject A: Me
Subject B: You
Did I ban you? I banned KC for a day once for posting some porn openly. As far as I know, he didn't do that again.

Voted 'C' on the assumption all parties are prepared to compromise, i.e A slight clamp down on the lulz (in a democratic manner), with a lesser purge (but purge nevertheless).

If the others aren't prepared to compromise, 'A' wouldn't happen anyway (DU would need to find an epic "I Lose" image), nor would 'B' given VD's attitude.

@VD

He has the worst post history of anyone at the Codex and still continued to have after his ban. Then he became a moderator despite that while still continuing to expand his record lame post history. That was my point.

No you didn't ban me. You flew off the handle, in the context of the Spacemoose event and what happened in the complaint thread. Apparently you also planned to ban me, despite my post history being nowhere near that of certain offenders (moderators).

Not trying to say you suck or that KC is a bad moderator (I don't think he is, but he does suck as a poster). Just saying lame post history means shit (despite KC's claims), it's all random knee-jerking recently. That's why I went with C.

Proof? Or do you expect us to take your word for it?

We've discussed that before. You and many other see being a mod or admin as some kind of promotion and/or recognition of one's awesomeness. It's not.

No you didn't ban me. You flew off the handle. Apparently you also planned to ban me, despite my post history being nowhere near that of certain offenders (moderators).
Flew off the handle? We didn't even have a discussion. You made some dumb posts, pardon my bluntness, and I rewarded your efforts to be different with a tag. Nothing personal. As for planning to ban you, either DU posted half of what I said or Calis didn't give him everything. I would have warned you, thus giving you a chance to either tell me to fuck off (and then be banned) or start a constructive dialogue.

Just saying lame post history means shit (despite KC's claims), it's all random knee-jerking recently.
Well, if I missed something, please let me know, but I don't recall KC making remarks similar to what Spacemoose said or posting pictures of the same caliber.

There was that thread I made where I complained about congoids at my high school hip hopifying the national anthem. I still have the PMs from Blahblah calling me a racist to prove it.
edit-
Its not even Thanksgiving yet and I've already heard a Christmas exploitation song. God, I hate these. I don't want to listen to some black chick going "Mayayayaya aw yo Krissmusses be whyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyioooowoooooooooahwahwhawhaooooooooohwwa-ite!!!" Or how about angry shouting shitheads with electric guitars? "CHESTNUTS!!! ROASTING!!! ON AN OPEN FIRE!!! YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!!" I'm really looking forward to those. At least rappers leave it alone.
Yeah, Saint Nick!
Slappin dat fat ass!
Dat sleigh go fass!
Like a (random car)!
BITCHES!

I remember back in high school, I went to the "black" high school in town. Every time they forced me to go to a pep rally (before I had a car and could escape unnoticed), some black chick would try to hip-hopify the national anthem. I can't stand that.

So, I'm not turning on my radio anymore.
kingcomrade said:
Look, I don't care if these people translate the Anthem into Spanish incorrectly (as they've been doing). But you don't Remix the fucking national anthem.
haha, I was so cute back then!! ^_^

edit 2, oh fuck, I made that post exactly 2 years ago plus one day

Proof? He's the king of lame meaningless one-liners. Do you really need proof for this? Check his response to my post. And no I don't think it's a medal, I think he became moderator to fight himself (gain incentive to stop being a dumbass), which is stupid considering he still posted stupid shit given any standard of stupidity, despite if you think posting stupidly is right or wrong.

You're trying to pick apart my post, but it's already too late I'm afraid. KC's post has already gone through the shredder. If you want to have an argument, that's fine, I don't. I was merely dispatching a post ridden with inaccuracies and you tried to defend it. It's over.

Let's discuss something worth discussing instead.

The noun form of 'stupid' is stupidity.
KC's post has already gone through the shredder.
Things we pretend part what? I've never really posted the same sort of shit that Spacemoose and company post, the time I did I got tempbanned for it.

Never said it was the same sort of shit (they're more fun, no offense). Just said it was shit, which it is. And you've posted it a hell of a lot more than Spacemoose.

Fair enough.

Good content is important for a site. DU has done some good stuff but it seems very rarely, VD is the main content driver for the site. There are infinite forums online, good content is worth much more.

Weekly bans for bipolar posters being more lame then usual that are bargained down anyways... I've never seen a problem with it, bans can keep a forum lively and active (that is what SA owner has said and members pay for that forum). Weekly bans are nothing, admins can throw them around like candy and shorten them as they see fit, I don't think VD abused it.

Maybe VD should post his hit-list and we can have Survivor Island challenges to see how gets kicked off.

Oh, how I love exerting the dark humour of the Codex. Forever an eloquent brew of villany and wit, the offspring of a matrimony of trinities entangled; mind, intelligence and insight; tradition, ability and a heritage molded in a glorious past, carried onward by men never forgotten, never could be, never should be, never ever will be, at times a thunderous call gathering the diminishing few, assembling the brave soldiers of a dying genre under one frightening banner, rousing them into frenzy, guiding good men turned demon with its dark yet glowing light, steering them on and beyond the left hand path, still carrying them onward, through battle, through war, through hell itself, until every son of a bitch that once dared oppose them lie bleeding at their feet, admitting their fault, their weakness, crying for forgivness, for a redemption never come, their fault too grave, their minds too venomous, their hearts too black, their very core infectious, sobbing, whimpering, their pathetic dying breaths a whisper, a recognition, a crowning, a making of kings, the lulzers of the dark of the vast void of digital reality. Gather champions, our journey lies in its infancy, the future is ours. Dark lulz fo'evah!

I voted in favor of our beloved UberSturmFuhrer.

This site is more than one eprson. Codex was fine before SP made him part of staf, m Codex was fine with VD in charge (depsite his recent schoolgirl hissy fits), and it would be fine if he leaves.

I voted VD comes back with a less sissy girl attitude. And, L0L, that means if(when) he regains power he'll be banning/thretaening to ban me striaght away 'cause I dared to mock his sissy girl attitude of recent times.

Still, it's worth a risk as VD does add to the Codex even with his sissy girl attitude of recent times due to his news postings, reviews, and opinions.

The whole lulz thing has been exaggerated to absurd proportions, as if it's either lulz and nothing else or no lulz and everything else. This has never been the case.

Also, the votes of people who actually post(ed) here on a regular basis should have more value than those of lurkers with accounts.

I value the lurkers more than the Morrowind fanboys who came here after they realized Oblivion sucked.

I think the results speak for themselves. The people want their Vault Dweller back with full powers and a nanosuit (of the Crysis type).

Anyway, hopefully since things have calmed down now, there wouldn't be as many people banned if VD came back with full powers? Perhaps, even, nobody would be banned straight away? Everyone (who isn't already banned) could start with a clean slate, and if VD feels the need to purge any infidels from this point on, it's his choice. That is my suggestion, anyway.

Given all this drama lately, even the slightest provocation should be off limits... i.e. anyone who wants to 'test' VD the moment he gets back, should get what they asked for.

Edit: in other words, I voted for Option A.

I voted for A, since VDs newsposts, articles and a high quality board were the main points that set this place apart from other Rpg sites.
There are plenty of rpg pages that offer better coverage of recent news and therefore I doubt that trying to compete with them on this level will prove successful in the long run.

Additionally, the willingness to uncover bullshit in an eloquent way contributed to the reputation of the codex and without VD I don't think that this level can be maintained in any way.
Aside from that, what we need back is a higher standard when it comes to board posts, because there was a time (another lurker) when black humor was paired with wit on a regular basis, something which is nowhere as common today.
Quite recently it sometimes approached the level of common stupidity displayed in other boards, the sole difference being that over here these persons had the opportunity to outlive their behaviour more freely.

I told Calis before that whole thing was blown out of proportion that nobody will be banned, but warned instead, but DU thought that using the first part of the email would be more fun and create a strong image of impeding doom that he managed to stop just in time.

Having said that, I'd like to note that things have gone to far, after DU nuked two attempts to discuss things in a reasonable manner, and I highly doubt that something could be changed at this point. I actually respect DU for acting strongly and decisively. Hopefully, he can improve the forums without spilling the blood of the patriots.

Anyway, let's give the new regime a chance and stop making retarded threads.

Then I guess your 11k post count hasn't taught you how to formulate your thoughts and/or opinions properly yet. Not surprising since it consists of what? 9k lame one-liners? Or is that too forgiving?

You and Spacemoose aren't too different really. He's the shit flinging monkey that occasionally hits people straight in the mouth with a handful, and sometimes has a useful thought. You're the elephant (you seem to prefer godzilla) dumping truckloads of shit everywhere you can, as often as you can. Usually followed up with some more. Anything not shit related you post quickly gets buried in your endless sea of shit.

Some don't mind living in shit, but most people certainly don't want it in their mouth and thus can't appreciate the skill required in placing it there. The smell and quantity varies but shit is still shit though.

My post history certainly isn't shit free, but I think my post count speaks for itself in this matter. I try to contain my shit whenever I can resist the urge to just dump all over a thread or a poster. This time I couldn't.

The End.

P.S. Still not saying being a bad poster makes you a bad moderator, just that someone needs to moderate you besides yourself if the lame shit is supposed to end. Currently, I guess it doesn't have to end.

Gahh, I was trying to ignore this whole drama, but since Volourn suggested that there is a chance of getting him banned I just had to vote for A. Just for the lulz, naturally.

I assume by "new regime" you mean the old regime that steped up again, right?

Because right now, I don't think I can do much to set the site apart from others besides posting slightly more indie-centric content than others, good thing or not. But as far as brilliance goes - damn, get your act together with DU already, have a nice, long talk on IRC or whatever - I for one really want you back.

No. The old regime was Saint and his lieutenants (I was one of them). Calis was always a staff member, but he usually played a passive role and stayed away from "politics". Shagnak and Baby Arms are the TCancer boys. DU showed up after the Rex' demise.
