People who've never administrated a traditional Internet forum that's had years to mature just don't understand the staff ecosystem. The most important factor in any aged Internet forum's operation is staff laziness.
Some may think I'm kidding around, exaggerating, or whatever, but I'm quite serious. Every policy and official act is balanced around minimizing staff workload.
I was the absolute worst offender at the forum that I FOUNDED AND OWNED. Case in point: It's still running as we speak, and I haven't checked it in months (except just now, to check if it was still alive

).
The most important quality any individual poster can have is to be genuinely interesting and entertaining. If you embody those qualities, you'll get away with almost anything barring unforgivable offenses (child porn, hacking, sock puppet account spam, etc.), for one reason: Like all of you, forum staff are here to be entertained (by discussion about some shared hobby in many cases, but not exclusively that). If you're a good jester and don't push the boundaries too much, you can get away with anything.
Anyway, "paranoids weirdo who thinks the staff are conspiring against him/her" is one of my favorite archetypes. It's hilarious because they don't realize that staff aren't thinking about them 99.9% of the time. Occasionally particular users do draw staff interest and discussion, but it's pretty much never the paranoid weirdos. Paranoid weirdos are essentially considered to be homeless people by the average staff member.
